Here are the top five navy blue eyeshadows that I’ve tried and tested–they happen to be more shimmery than not–so perhaps next time around, I’ll start adding finish into the mix 🙂

  2. Make Up For Ever I220 (A)
  3. ColourPop Etiquette (A)
  4. Giorgio Armani Minuit (A)

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Could you do a top 5 champagne eyeshadows? I know it’s a really basic shade and we all think we have one, but there are so many options out there!

I just did a ColourPop order late last night! I wish I’d waited till I saw this post, Etiquette is gorgeous! I did order Coconut, which is slightly more teal, but still a gorgeous rich blue.

My absolute favorite (and I actually have quite a few in my stash!) is L’Oréal Infallible in Midnight Blue. The clolor, finish, and texture/application are all beautiful. Another one I really like, and is budget-friendly (especially for those who want to try the shade without spending a lot, or having to order online), is L’Oréal Wear Infinité in Midnight Sky.

Midnight and Lunar are perfect for me! Both are “warmer” navy’s which are far easier for me to pull off. However, MUFE I-220 I know is super blendable, and therefore it would be easy to incorporate it into a teal-aqua-green mermaid themed eye look to add depth! ( I think you may have actually done a look like that using it?)

Good shade! I had to go dig out CP Etiquette. Thanks for the prompt! I love navy with grey in a smoky eye. I’d love to see a list of satin greys when you get to it.

I love deep, shimmery blues. It’s so hard to find ones that aren’t patchy and have good pigmentation. These are all swoon-worthy. I want MUFE Sapphire really bad. I also want to get ColourPop Etiquette and Rex. Some of my favorites that I own are MUFE ME224, NARS Giove, Sleek Sinbad’s Seas, UD Evidence, Stila Saphhire, and the navy from Stila’s Borealis duo. I know a couple of these are technically metallics, but I’m counting them.

I wish I’d known about Temptalia back in winter 2010 when I was looking for a navy shadow. I picked up MUFE #60 and I was so disappointed with it after I brought it home and swatched it. I wanted a true, dark matte navy to use as a liner and #60 has green in it. That’s had a real impact on how I view MUFE shadows — if they can’t do something as simple as navy right, how can I trust them with other colors? Maybe it’s time I let that go, eh? Especially since I now have a way to look up reviews and swatches before I purchase an eyeshadow.

The ridiculous thing is that, if they’d called it Dark Peacock and not Navy Blue, I would have purchased it, been thrilled with the color, and 100% satisfied. Even more ridiculous is that I’ve been looking for a color EXACTLY like #60 for three years, had it in my possession the entire time, but I’d completely blocked it out because my mind has been viewing it as a “bad navy” instead of an “amazing, dark peacock”. I guess I have expectation issues I need to work on…

Oh no! 🙁 Did MUFE #60 look navy blue in the pan or was it just called “navy blue” at Sephora? I know that with the current range, the descriptions seem provided/written by Sephora and not the actual brand.

But I can totally understand – that’s really what I think reviews are best for: setting expectations. It’s less about “Buy this!!!!!” or “Don’t bother!!!!” and more describing and setting up the pros/cons.

Yes, it looked navy… and perfect in the pan. I’m guessing that’s how MUFE described it as it’s still on the Beautylish site and listed as Navy Blue. I’m going to remind myself that it’s a peacock color from now on and I’m betting I’ll start using it often! (And all because of this post on navy shadows! Thank you! This has been like working through an issue in therapy! LOL)

I completely agree with you about reviews! It’s like, “This is how the product performs, it’s highs and lows. Knowing these things, is this product worth the time/money you invest in it?” And just like in a relationship, there are flaws we’re willing to overlook and then there are deal-breakers! =)

Midnight Sky and Lunar are probably my favourites of the five. But it was hard to chose as all of them looks lovely. If I used blue eyeshadows more I’d buy Lunar tomorrow! 🙂
(I really should try to incooperate blue a bit more.)

These are all totally GORGEOUS shimmery blue eye shadows – the way blue eye shadows should be. Just heavenly. My favourite – for value you cannot go past the Colour Pop Etiquette colour for $5. If I had endless money to spend I would go for the Le Metier Midnight Sky. But really – you cannot tell the difference between them except for the price. Thank you for this Top 5 Favourites.

Holy crap that LMdB is freaking gorgeous and the GA too! Just bought some deep blues recently after whining about the Dior release and saying I couldn’t rock out a navy eye. Well dammit, I can. I picked up a couple of “I’m on a whim and don’t want to blow through the wallet” colour pop shadows including Etiquette.

Love shimmery navy blue. I fall for it no matter what. It’s always just been a question of my sanity state. If I’m completely on it and I have it in my budget, I’ll buy it immediately lol. So glad there are brands like ColourPop out there to save my wallet. Etiquette and Coconut are both so beautiful.
