The Secret to No Makeup Makeup is Makeup

Too Faced The Secret to No Makeup Makeup Face Palette ($39.00 for 0.65 oz.) includes a bronzer, cream blush, powder blush, concealer, luminizer, and brightener.

Bronzing Veil is a beige-brown with a soft shimmer; it’s definitely not even close to being orange. For very fair complexions, it’ll be well-received. For medium to dark, it will hardly show up (better as a highlighter than anything else). It has a soft, finely-milled feel, but it is a little powdery. On its own, it wore for six and a half hours. MAC Sun Dipped is warmer and browner.

Creme Blush is a cool-toned, blue-based cotton candy pink with a semi-matte finish. There’s very little sheen/shimmer in this, so it looks natural on the cheeks, and it does blend out well. The cream blush only lasted four hours on me, and I have normal-to-dry skin (and I was on the drier side at the time of testing). MAC I’m the One is darker and powder-based. NARS Gaiety is a touch bluer and powder-based. MAC Peony Petal is darker and powder-based.

Blush is a cool-toned, bule-based cotton candy pink with a light dusting of silver shimmer over a matte finish. It is very, very close in color to the cream blush in the palette. The pigmentation was good, and it blended well on the skin. It wore for seven and a half hours. MAC I’m the One is darker. NARS Gaiety is a touch bluer. MAC Peony Petal is darker.

Conceal is a light beige with subtle warm undertones. It’s very creamy and wet, and it’s thin with semi-sheer coverage. The dry down time was a little long, and it tended to get caught in fine lines and settle there. For anyone who regularly uses concealer, I don’t think this will be your go-to; if you rarely use concealer or only in emergencies, it might work. Because of the lighter shade, it will be better for lids and under eyes for more complexions, whereas light-medium complexions may find it works all over.

Luminize is a shimmering beige. It’s very, very sheer and more of a faint, dustnig of sheen/shimmer. I tried wearing it on cheeks as well as on the brow bone–you couldn’t really see the brow bone getting highlighted. It seemed a little better on the cheek.

Brighten is a pink-toned, very pale beige. It has a thin, creamy consistency. I used this lightly on the lid and patted over the concealer (that I used beneath my eye). This had more impact on brightening/covering my under eye area more than the concealer.

This is a palette that would be best suited for lighter complexions; I think darker skin tones will find the bronzer to be better as a highlighter, while the concealer and brightener may not be useful at all. Similarly, if you don’t like cool-toned blushes on you, both are very, very blue-based. As a comment for all, I wasn’t overly impressed by the concealer, luminizer, or brightener–I think there are definitely better standalone products on the market that will do a lot more for your complexion. Sometimes palettes knock it out of the park because you get a ton of fantastic products for the price of just a few, and other times, palettes perform decently, but individual products out-perform them. With staples like concealer, brighteners, and the like–I would spend my money on the right shades for your skin tone in excellent formulas.

I usually love Too Faced palettes, but I have to admit I had a, “What were they thinking?!” moment when I saw the concealer. That just limits the range of the palette so much. It’s up there with foundation in terms of its variability on how and what kind will work for both skin types and tones.

I don’t have this exact palette but I have the two faced natural face which I am pretty is the same except for the blush. I have pale skin and I find that the concealer is great. I don’t use it on pimples or scars as it would be too dark and I like to let any pimples I have “breath” but its great for under the eyes as the colour neutralises my under eye circles and works great in conjunction with the brightener, and although makes a difference, is hardly noticeable. The only problem I have is the drying time as it can often go into and creases, but this can be easily fixed. I feel that I would be able to use this concealer on many of my friends with different skin tones, but sadly not on my darker skinned friends and I wish that too-faced would make a version of one of their face palettes for them. But otherwise, this concealer being kind of sheer and easy to blend is more versatile then I first expected.

I’m surprised by this palette. I want to like it as I think it’s a good idea, but surely concealer, in particular, is not a one-shade-suits-all product! I am fair and I think that this palette would probably work for me, but I think they should release other palettes (perhaps minus the concealer!) for different skin tones.

As someone with darker skin, I’m not even going to bother with this product. Your points ring true for me, and I can find better highlighters an things of that nature which will better suite me. I prefer warm/rich blushes as well…nothing on that palette appeals to me at all.

Adding a concealer to a palette like this is a bit tricky, no? You did make it look really good on yourself! I do love that they added a powder and a cream blush altho this might get a bit messy over time. The colours are really pretty tho! Are you using different lightning in your portraits? It looks really good Christine! 🙂

How does this palette compare to the Natural Face palette from last spring? It seems that they are the same except the blushes in this palette are more pink rather than peach based. TIA for any comparisons you can provide!

The concealer is an odd addition, it really limits who this palette is marketed to. It would be way too dark for my skin tone :/ I think maybe a dark brown powder eyeliner would’ve been a better addition. But this could still be a cute palette for a young teen, provided the concealer is a match.

I like the concept, but considering the price and that I wouldn’t even use the concealer it seems a waste. I have been wanting to try a product from too faced but I will pass on this. Maybe if this goes on sale at the end of the season I will buy it then.

I really wish that palettes like this -ALL palettes that are this skin-dependent, that is- came in a variety of tones and colors. They make foundation for multiple skin tones, so why not face palettes like this? A company could even make a palette for each foundation color to make it simpler! *sigh*

Something about this set looks really cheap to me. Like the concealers would be watery, low pigment and the cream blush sticky. I LOVE Too Faced but this sorta repels me. Plus cream + powder = No no.

This palette is actually amusing. As a whole, it is suited to any one specific skintone. The concealer & bronzer are warmer in tone, yet both blushes are cooler… If it were marketed as a “sampler”, at a lower pricepoint & 2 different blush “tones”, I could see it working, but as it is, I see *very* few who can wear everything, especially together.

I’m confused as to why they would market this for everyone with one shade of concelaer and another single shade of “brightener”. These aren’t shades that can work on everyone–I know for a fact they wouldn’ work on me. I’m honestly not sure anything in this palette would work for me, maybe the blushes, but something about it just looks and feels cheap. I’ll pass.

Looking at the palette without really focusing on the products, it’s such a beautiful mix of shades that I completely love. But when I look at the specifics of each product, there’s really nothing I need in it. It’s also not so great that it doesn’t come in more shades, although I will say, if you really had to create an undereye concealer than could be workable for a large range of skintones, that does seem like a good tone (although of course an even larger range of skintones is excluded)

I have this palette and while the colors all suit me (fair-light skin with neutral undertones) I do find it disappointing. The concealer is exactly as you described it, and the luminizer might as well be invisible ink 🙁

I really wanted to get into contouring with this set, and I do think it’s a good intro set for subtle contouring, but I was looking for something more dramatic and really wish I hadn’t paid $39+tax for it.
