Tom Ford Vapour Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Tom Ford Vapour Nail Lacquer
Tom Ford Vapour Nail Lacquer ($30.00 for 0.41 oz.) is described as a “semi-opaquewhite.” It is a metallic white with neutral to warm undertones. Dior Lady is very comparable. Chanel Pearl Drop is warmer, slightly yellowed in comparison. Nubar Organza is also very similar.
Vapour is very streaky–the first coat is incredibly streaky, and the second coat is almost as bad but it covers up some of what the first coat showed. As a result, the coverage is uneven and semi-sheer to semi-opaque. Obviously, at this price point, you want a metallic white that performs much, much better. Even if you want to go the route of a brushed metal kind of finish, the streaks of this one are plentiful, curved, and not as easily controlled as some of thosed brushed finishes. The consistency was on the tinner side but not watery, so I was able to apply each coat without getting too much polish on the brush. I normally get a week of wear out of Tom Ford’s formula with minor tip wear but no chipping.

40 bucks (more in Canada) for a NAIL POLISH???? And not just that but a nail polish that that looks streaky and sheer and only garners a C+ rating? I got some great polishes last week on sale – 6 bucks Canadian. This Vapour looks like the cheap Cutex polishes I first used when I was in middle school!
I like a metallic white better than a glossy or matte white (typex alert) but yeah, the quality of this one is a bit disappointing,
Definitely not a fan of this one. It’s too bridal.
This is listed as a sheer polish, but the streakiness is ridiculous. I’m loving the general look on your nails though with the shimmery metallic so need to def check out Dior Lady. I usually have good success with Dior formulas. I have a handful of TF nail polishes, but even as a diehard TF fan, this price point keeps me from adding any more.
Yeah, had they not listed “semi-opaque” in the description it would have been a much lower grade (it was then just uneven in pigmentation, in a sense).
The shade itself is lovely, but at this price point, I expect and want something that performs really well.
$30 for a streaky, boring polish? No thankyou
It’s just another white polish.
What a sheer, streaky mess!
Have you tried Zoya Ginessa? It’s a very pretty cool-toned metallic white. And it’s $8, MUCH less than the Tom Ford one!! 🙂
I don’t think I have!
I thought it looked really pretty in your photos. I don’t see the streakiness that you mention on my monitor. I’m going to take your word on it though. Looking more closely I think I really need to clean my computer monitor. 😉
Call me crazy but I love the way it looks, gorgeous. Now the price point is very high still I would happily use something similar, just not so expensive.
I have yet to try and Tom Ford nail polish. As much as I love nail polis, I just haven’t seen any must have colors.
