Tom Ford Reflection Cream & Powder Eye Color Review & Swatches
Reflection
Tom Ford Beauty Reflection Cream & Powder Eye Color ($62.00 for 0.31 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo that features a rich, sparkling brown powder eyeshadow paired with a coppery, pearlized cream eyeshadow.
When layering the powder eyeshadow over the cream eyeshadow–which honestly felt counterintuitive since it’s normally light over dark for me!–it created a sparkling, warmer golden bronze. The powder eyeshadow definitely added depth, sparkle, and pulled out the yellower tones from the cream eyeshadow. Both shades performed well: pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing, and they were fairly consistent with my past experience with the formulas, generally. The powder eyeshadow seemed richer and creamier compared to past releases (all good things).

Reflection (Eye Color)
Reflection (Eye Color) is a rich, deeper brown with warm, yellow undertones and flecks of gold sparkle throughout. It was one of the least-sparkly shades I’ve seen in this formula, but it was also one of the richest and most pigmented on its own–like this is a real powerhouse duo as a result, since it is more versatile.
The texture was smooth, more firmly-pressed in the pan, and felt almost “wet” to the touch. It had opaque pigmentation that applied well to bare skin and blended out easily with very minimal blowing out of the sparkles along the edges (but no visible fallout). It wore well for nine hours and did not seem to suffer from fallout during wear.

LELimited Edition.
Reflection (Cream Color)
Reflection (Cream Color) is a light-medium, coppery bronze with warm, reddish undertones and warmer, golden pearl that gave it a more metallic finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, and I felt like it was more consistent in coverage and opacity in practice (on the lid as opposed to swatched on my arm).
The texture was creamy, spreadable, and emollient without being too emollient, so I could soften and diffuse the edges but retained the intensity and coverage as desired. It wore well for eleven and a half hours before creasing slightyl.

Formula Overview

The Cream Color for Eyes formula is supposed to be “ultra-pigmented” and “metallic” with a “creamy formula” that doesn’t “crease or smudge.” The majority of the shades I’ve tried in the range live up to those things–good pigmentation but can be applied sheerly (use less and/or apply with a fluffy brush) or kept opaque (a little goes a long way) with eight to twelve hours of wear (no primer). They’re blendable and dry down fast enough not to crease too easily while you’re working on them but not so quickly that they don’t budge. I did find that a couple of the new shades were more emollient than past shades and did have a longer dry down time and were harder to keep out of creases (in this review, that would be Siren Blue).

I think the deeper brown topper (although swatches show it much lighter than I expected) would look better over a deeper true copper. To have a bit of copper peeking through a dark brown shimmer would be really pretty, imo.
I think this is the most stunning and useful combination ever – gorgeous shades, beautiful finish and each one of them can be used alone. Love it.
Beautiful duo of shades. Yet, I feel like yourself, it’s a rather odd pairing having the powder shadow being deeper than the cream. But I really love it anyway!
This looked so promising and so happy it delivers. Gonna try to scoop this up at the VIB sale..
So glad it isn’t a repeat of Spice! I love the cream color formula and wish the shade range was more expansive!
Is the cream a dupe for Spice?

Such a gorgeous duo! I love the that it breaks the concept of dark sparkle over lighter cream. Will be picking it up.
