A crying woman is a subversive choice for a holiday collection photo. I think it’s bold. “Oh no, I forgot to take the giblet bag out of the turkey, so I will cry beautiful tears”.

I got the email about this – I’m on the fence. I can do black eyeshadow as an accent, but I can’t do a black cream as an all over base. I LOVE the formula and want it for collecting purposes, but that’s silly because I won’t use it. No value there, and I think I’d regret the purchase. Okay, just fell off the fence on the no side.

IDK what’s up with the promo pic, but the model looks like a hot mess. I just got MAC Guo Pei Night Sky quad and Tom Ford comes up with Night Sky duo! And Chanel has the Rhythm Blues blue quad and single Guess blues are in this season, great for blue shadow lovers like me 🙂

Oh Thanks for posting! Tom always sneaks in the surprise collection when your broke form buying everyone else’s stuff! Lol. I like his style though. Small and luxurious collection here. I noticed the Lips and Boys collection back on Saks for pre order too the other day. I’m for sure getting the eye cream. I really like the tips mascara. But, I probably would get no use of it. The liner looks gorgeous too. But, the price tag-you know, I’m sure it’s amazing. But, geez!

Haha! I take it you don’t feel Stavros is “worth it” Wendy? I was thinking about trying to get that one this time around just because it was so popular. But, I’m not sure if it’s wearable for me. I just kinda want it,lol

Nicole: it’s really interesting and unique, but the first time I put it on, I wasn’t sure about it on me either. I find I have to wear it in one of two ways. 1. skim apply over bare lip letting a bit of natural lip colour pulling through or 2. start with a rough base of MAC stone lip pencil all over (it’s a good base because it is a neutral to cool brown) and then just apply Stavros in a sheer layer on top and it works really well, pulls grunge on me, but in a modern good way. I love it~

If I apply it full force from the bullet. It’s just a miserable no go. I can’t explain why exactly, it must pull the grey tone too strongly on me, dunno..but futzed around until I got it to work for me.

I too am waiting for Stavros. I mix that color with Smoked Red. By itself it looks terrible but it is gorgeous as a mixer color with another shade.

It’s kind of weird that the products don’t look anything like the promotional photo, where the shadows look charcoal and the mascara looks like royal purple…

Eileen Avatar

I noticed that, too. I’ve seen some pictures of the products IRL and the eyeshadow is definitely navy and the mascara is definitely blue. In the promo picture it looks like the model is wearing Black Oyster. Odd.

Night Sky *could* wind up being my FIRST TF. This looks so deep and uber smoky. But I’ll probably just wait to see what your thoughts are on it first BEFORE I take the $66 plunge.
I am trying so hard to be good about not overspending, especially with the veritable glut of recent releases!

This entire collection looks GORGEOUS – no surprise really: it is Tom Ford, after all. So intrigued by the gold mascara – might be worth the splurge!

Genevieve Avatar

That’s a strange photo to advertise makeup. The eye makeup looks way too heavy and I don’t think it advertises the products really well and the fact that she is crying……weird.
However, I do like the navy colours with the coloured mascaras – love coloured mascaras in those colours. So it will be interesting to see how the quality is. Hopefully it will be good.

My first reaction to the promo photo was WTF, followed by, “There must be waterproof eye products in the collection because those tears are clear”. LOL.

But still with the wtf. And with the not buying Tom Ford, so. Pretty blues though!

I bought “First time” lipstick from this collection. I was so excited because it was my first TF lipstick and ohhh boy disappointment. This is the worst lipstick I have ever tried. I am light to medium skin tone and it completely washed off my lips. But the worse it accented every line on my lips and set in them. It looked liked my lips cracked badly. Smell is also very disturbing, chemical smell. Sorry for bad review of this lipstick and hope it will work fine for somebody else.
