Tom Ford De La Creme Eye Color Quad Review & Swatches
De La Creme
Tom Ford Beauty De La Creme Eye Color Quad ($88.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a new, warm-toned neutral quad that includes two shimmer shades and two matte shades. The shimmers were disappointing–sheer, prone to fading, didn’t sit as well on bare skin–while the two mattes were lovely as they had good pigmentation and blended out well. Obviously, at this price point, you have to love the performance and look of every single shade as it may apply to your own preferences (some might prefer sheerer shimmers, though they’re not marketed as such).

De La Creme #1
De La Creme #1 is a light, peachy gold with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had medium coverage, which didn’t build up well without using a dampened brush (even fingertip application was so-so). The texture was smooth and silky to the touch but too thin and prone to sheering out. It lasted well for seven hours before fading noticeably.

De La Creme #2
De La Creme #2 is a light copper with moderate, warm undertones and a soft, golden sheen. It had more of a satin finish when applied and blended out as the thinner texture prevented it from looking as shimmery applied as it did in the pan. The texture felt finely-milled to the touch but felt like it was missing some binder–it just didn’t sit as smoothly as I would have expected. This shade had good pigmentation, though it appeared lighter than it looked in the pan. There was noticeable fading after seven hours of wear.

De La Creme #3
De La Creme #3 is a light-medium, yellowy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had excellent pigmentation in a single layer, while the texture was silky, smooth, and finely-milled. There was a little bit of powderiness present in the pan, but it applied beautifully to bare skin and blended out well without being prone to sheering out. It stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

De La Creme #4
De La Creme #4 is a deeper brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in one layer, which was buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer more. The consistency was soft, a little powdery in the pan, but it applied evenly and blended out nicely. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Personally, I wouldn’t want a sheer, topper-type shimmer shade in a quad, but I suppose some people would. Again, this is easily duped cheaper.
Personally, I’ll gladly take my CP Yes, Please and UD Naked Honey over this. Similar shades, superior performance to this quad.
Nothing really special here. For this sort of price (over $100 here in Canada), I really want something exciting and that sets my heart racing. And this doesn’t do it!
I does all look a bit wishy washy really, some of the shades are far too sheer – so much so that they wouldn’t be noticeable by lunchtime.
And these are all shades that can be easily purchased a lot cheaper too.
