theBalm Toile Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

theBalm Toile Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush
theBalm Toile Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush

theBalm Toile Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush ($22.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “strawberry.” It’s a bright, bold coral-pink with a barely-there satin sheen. MAC Simmer is similar. NARS Amour is slightly more muted, less warm-toned. See comparison swatches.

It’s incredibly pigmented with true-to-pan color, but the coverage is more buildable than over-the-top. I would still recommend using a lighter hand when initially applying so that you can adjust the intensity more readily. The texture is soft, finely-milled, and it wasn’t powdery. As I applied Toile to the skin, it blended out easily initially, but it tends to stick in place once it is sheered out slightly. The blush wore nine and a half hours on me without fading, so it lived up to its long-wearing claim. I wouldn’t describe this so much as a product that stains, as it easily removes with regular makeup remover with no extra elbow grease required.

Kohls.com actually has a set of three of these in Toile, Argyle and Houndstooth for $34 US. They are all full sized, so you definitely get bang for your buck.

You look amazing Christine. That lipstick is perfect on you.
Every Friday, when I see mellan, I try to write something, but my messages never go through. He is the star of Friday’s haul. Always look foward to see his pictures.

Thank you, Fabiola!

On Friday’s post on 7/26, and then I have a couple of commments you left last week on 8/27 and 8/26! I checked Spam but did not turn up any comments with you as the author!

you are such a sweet heart christine love you muahhhhhhhhhh <3 you are looking so fresh like doll in this your lipstick is also complementing with your blush love your look 🙂 and the hand swatch is awesome thanx a lot for reviewing it and making my mind to finally get it love you christine <3 🙂

Hi Christine! I was just wondering if you wore any lip base or primer in this photo? I absolutely love your lip color and I went to see which one it is and it turns out I already had it, lol. It just looks different on me, and while I understand that that’s bound to happen, I was just wondering if you put it over anything else. Many thanks 🙂

I really, really like the look of this blush–its the exact pinky-coral I have been craving lately! And damn if that lipstick isn’t perfect with it–looks like they were made to go together!

I was reading this with no high expectations but when I scrolled down and saw it on you I went ‘wow’! I don’t know if it’s because I’m totally distracted by that gorgeous lipstick you are wearing, or maybe this is just a killer combo but you are looking natural and fresh Christine! 🙂

The Balm has such beautiful products at a very reasonable price! This blush is so beautiful! I will surely have a look when I visit my local store. MaryLoumanizer is one of my favourite highlighters!

Christine, you look so beautiful in this picture. I will try to steal your look. I never matched my blush with my lipstick before. I am curious too see if it will look so good on me too!

Try it and let me know how it goes! I would probably add something more contrasting for eyes – or maybe just darker eyeliner and a lot of mascara 🙂

Not sure about the stain aspect of this product, but it looks really pretty on you, Christine..especially with the lip colour you are also wearing.. very fresh and lovely.

That last pic is SO pretty! The blush with the lipstick and your earrings and top all look so fun and summery!! (Please don’t let summer end! I REALLY don’t want it to!) I just love the whole look!

i love this. I see they have more colours in this range. Could you do a review on “Houndstooth” it’s the mauve colour. I have my eyes on that one but would love to read your comments.

Thanks for your reviews, i love your page and i visit every day 🙂

Gorgeous, gorgeous look! This one is perfect! May I ask, what eye pencil you have on under your eyes? I don’t look good in dark eye makeup but this pencil freshens, defines and adds a finished polish to the eyes without looking made up. Better than natural! You have skin to die for, wish I hadn’t ruined mine in the sun growing up, but it’s too late for regrets.

Omw, this is so pretty! It looks amazing with your entire look. I LOVE theBalm’s blushes. Definitely will add this to my collection sometime.

Wow, I agree with everyone, your makeup colors with the earrings and top makes you look so fresh, summery and extra pretty! 🙂

BTW, When I think of strawberry (as theBalm describes this color), coral does not come to mind because of the orange/peach mixed with pink. Strawberry is more like red mixed with pink.

This looks gorgeous. I have both Down Boy and Hot Mama by theBalm and they are both fantastic quality blushes. If there’s one thing theBalm does really well it’s blush.

I’ve read a few good comments on this type of blush from theBalm.
Actually, the ‘staining’ part of the name scared me into thinking it would either be too pigmented or that it would set too quickly.

But I’m glad you reviewed it! Toile is such a gorgeous color. I love my corals too. Definitely adding this to my wishlist. ^^

And you look so youthful & pretty in your photo, Christine!!! ^^

aisyah, it’s available on Sasa now for RM 65 (promo price). I have this shade from the balm 50% sale, that I haven’t use yet. contact me if you are interested

I just got the blush from Sasa today and I *heart* the color. It was going for 50% off? Dang, should have read this post before I got the blush.

Such a beautiful color. I love theBalm blushes. I might have to pick this one up.

Quick question: what’s your favorite brush to apply blush? Thanks!

Hi Sarah,

It used to be MAC’s 116, but I’m really liking Hakuhodo J5543/Tom Ford Cheek Brush most right now. I also like Hakuhodo G5545 a lot but it gives a softer application.

On the review of theBalm Toile Instain Long-Wearing Staining Powder Blush ( btw you look stunning) ,do you remember what is on your face? NARS Translucent Crystal Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder ? Thank you for your time

This was taken a couple of months ago, so my guess would be Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation with Guerlain Pressed Meteorites to set!
