The Summer Season: Milani Magenta Madness Lipstick

Milani Magenta Madness Lipstick ($5.00) is a darkened magenta-purple with a violet sheen. It’s like a much more purple, almost downplayed version of MAC Show Orchid. It’s as if MAC Violetta and MAC Show Orchid had a baby, actually. Magenta Madness has good color pay off and applies evenly and smoothly. If you’re not sensitive to scents (synthetic ones, in particular), Milani is a great brand for highly pigmented lipsticks at a budget-friendly price.

Is this the right purple lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

This is a good look… but not for summer. I think that summer make up should be natural and soft. Its just too much for summer.

I like Illmasqua’s Underworld better. Their metallic purple undertone is deeper, more pigmented and reflective. This Milani one I am not feeling.

Absolutely gorgeous but wouldn’t work on me because it would accentuate my not-so-white smile that cannot be bleached because of sensitivity.

Thanks, Christine for being our model, you look terrific beautiful with this color!!1

This is pretty! I wish it was just a bit more pink though!

I have been trying to research hot pink and magenta NYX lipsticks and I would love to see some swatches of them for the Summer Season! From what I’ve seen Chloe, Louisiana, and Pandora look really nice!

I actually like this colour very much! Looks totally different in the tube than on your lips. And strangely, blue eyed blondes look very nice with this colour, especially if the eyes are kept to the bare minimum. Much like yours in the picture. Lovely.

I’ve really come to love this brand. I have yet to try their lipsticks, but let me tell you, their lipliners are phenomenal (at least the one that I’ve tried is!)–so much pigmentation and it is smoooooth. I’m so weary of red lips, but lately I’ve been using bonfire as a lipstain like you suggested and the color is amazing. Very bright cherry red. I usually concentrate on the center of my lips instead of filling out my whole lips, and just blend it for a natural just-ate-a-popsicle look. I’d be very interested in seeing some of their lipliner swatches and your opinions on them.

I think the only reason I love this lipstick is because all I can picture is Gaga in the “Let’s Make a Sandwich” scene from her Telephone video. But If I remove Gaga from my mind (which is difficult), then I just see a really ugly shade that like a little girl would get in a plastic ring from one of those quarter machines at a walmart. I’m still going to buy it if I ever find it. I can’t seem to find Milani whenever I go to a Target, CVS, or Walgreens. It’s like my local ones don’t carry Milani. (whoah long comment)

Your skin looks great in these pics – Are you wearing any foundation? I’m trying to make my skin look better and less dry, and I’m trying to wear as little foundation as possible. Thanks!

Do you think this is a dupe for Illamasqua’s Underworld lipstick? Trying to decide if I should spring for the more expensive brand or not.
