The Colors of Aquamarine: 12 Eyeshadow Color Combos for March

March’s birthstone is aquamarine, which is typically sold in palest blue to mid-tone blue and the translucency of a gem tends to give it an overall lighter-blue appearance. There are also grayish-blue aquamarines and more green-leaning aquamarines. Here are some color combos inspired by aquamarine gems 🙂

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease or lid.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

It’s my daughter’s birthstone too, Nancy (March 19) so it’s always been a special stone to me (the really good aquamarines are beautiful). She has some earrings that she really loves and wears during her birthday month. Hoping you have a wonderful birthday (I was thinking of you today…I was finally able to get in to the hairdresser for cut and colour and it all had to do with the brand of hair brush my hairdresser was using!).

Tarquoise, aquas, mint green, pastel blues… My fav shades! So I am fan of the quads you created this month! Hope to see these shades more frequently in the makeup and across the mainstreams brands (the most beautiful shades come from indie ones, which are not easily available everywhere)

My birthstone, and aquamarine is a colour I just can’t wear. I do have a ring and two pendants and that works, but a lot of the colour close to the face or as makeup is close to a disaster for my skin tone. It’s odd, as some of the greener aquamarine is quite close to my (sometime) eye colour, I wonder if that makes my eyes not suit me… Oh, never mind, at least they work fine, and I’ll just stick to the amethysts for colourful looks. 🙂
Happy Birthday month to all other March Babies!
