Do you actually use pre-made palettes?

Do you actually use pre-made palettes?

I do! I think I use them more now than I did when I wasn’t a full-time blogger. This is because I tend to take a palette that I liked and recently reviewed with me for travel, although I have been taking a customized Make Up For Ever palette for longer trips.

Are there occasions where you won't wear any makeup?

Are there occasions where you won't wear any makeup?

If I’m going to be doing an outdoor activity for a prolonged period of time, especially if it is warmer out, like hiking. If I’m really sick, then I would also skip!

Have you ever been so turned off by packaging that you didn't buy a product you wanted?

Have you ever been so turned off by packaging that you didn't buy a product you wanted?

I can’t recall that being true! If the packaging was actually faulty, I might avoid purchasing additional shades if it was going to cause issues (e.g. a cream eyeshadow prone to drying out).

Are there products you only use during the fall?

Are there products you only use during the fall?

Not exclusively, no! I definitely get the urge to wear darker shades on the lips during fall, but I think the seasons have more of an impact on my skin and what products I use there.

What type of lighting do you use for makeup application?

What type of lighting do you use for makeup application?

In my new place, I replaced the recessed light bulbs with daylight bulbs, so it is a whiter light (it was quite yellow before, like 2600K). The room gets some natural light, and I use a simplehuman magnifying mirror, which also gives off what’s supposed to be daylight, so I wanted to get fairly...

How was your makeup routine evolved?

How was your makeup routine evolved?

When I first started wearing makeup, I only wore eye makeup. Then I gradually started to wear blush and lipstick (but I owned one blush and maybe a few lipsticks), which moved into gloss and foundation. I became really dependent on foundation for a couple of years, so I eased back on it. Eventually,...

Do you ever buy makeup and never wear it?

Do you ever buy makeup and never wear it?

I buy everything with the intention of reviewing it (which is my version of wearing it), and generally, I’m not someone who will buy makeup just to look at – like I’ll buy a pretty limited edition compact and use it, even if it destroys an embossing, and I’m okay with that. The way I see it...

What are your must-have brushes for an eye look?

What are your must-have brushes for an eye look?

MAC 239s (or Chikuhodo GSN-09s) for initial application of color (although, I will just as readily use them for all placement, blending, including crease color and brow bone color!). For the crease, if I want something more diffused, I’ll use a larger, rounded crease brush like Wayne Goss #19 or...

How do you justify buying a product that you already have dupes for?

How do you justify buying a product that you already have dupes for?

If I’m unhappy with the version I have, and I think the dupe is better, that would generally be the way to go. There are shades that I just really like, and so I enjoy having different finishes (even when slightly different), undertones, lightness/darkness, but they’re shades I would be more...
