What would be your ideal (beauty retailer) rewards program?

What would be your ideal (beauty retailer) rewards program?

I think Ulta’s system is quite good–lots of opportunities for point multiplier events and good conversion rate of points to $X off purchases. I would like to see things like free expedited shipping for higher spending tiers.

What makeup are you planning to wear on New Year's Eve?

What makeup are you planning to wear on New Year's Eve?

I always write the QOTDs in advance (usually a week’s worth!), so it’s not quite close enough to NYE for me to know… My guess is I’ll be working through some of the MUFE eyeshadows–getting closer to the end of testing. I’ll be hanging out at home, so nobody will be surprised at makeup...

Do you enjoy pastel-hued makeup?

Do you enjoy pastel-hued makeup?

If there’s enough saturation and the right texture, I can get down with pastels on myself, but I tend to find them a weaker color category for a lot of products and the stronger white base often doesn’t seem flattering on me.

How do you feel about purchasing backups?

How do you feel about purchasing backups?

Aside from regularly used skincare, I avoid it since it’s rare for me to finish a product, so getting to a backup is infrequent. I try to only purchase backups if I feel confident I’ll get to it, but I won’t buy tons of backups if it isn’t something I go through quickly (lip balm might be...

Do you have any beauty-related resolutions for 2018?

Do you have any beauty-related resolutions for 2018?

I don’t think I’ll have any resolutions for the upcoming 2018, though I’m not usually someone who commits to particular goals by the year. I have long-term, ongoing goals that I’ll continue to work toward but nothing specific in beauty.

Did you discover any new, holy grail products in 2017?

Will your approach to beauty products change in 2018?

Will your approach to beauty products change in 2018?

No, I don’t think so–still blogging full-time, so I don’t expect to really slow down or rev up the reviews. I think I said it last year, but I really don’t think I’ve found any more ways to streamline my process and can’t imagine producing more content than I did in 2017.

Did your makeup style or preferences change this year?

Did your makeup style or preferences change this year?

I don’t think so, though I recently switched the shade on my brow gel, which does look different (well, to me). I think I can safely say I’ve done gold/pink/berry enough times this year that I’m eager for a new trend to tire of next year!

How happy were you with your beauty purchases this year?

How happy were you with your beauty purchases this year?

Fairly happy, actually, since I say that more from the perspective of trying to be better about how much (and what) I purchase for review so that I actually review most of what I buy vs. over-purchasing and not having the time to review everything.

What has been the best beauty tip or trick you embraced this year?

What has been the best beauty tip or trick you embraced this year?

Not all primers are equal with all products–there are a lot of great primers on the market, and even though one might work many products, not all combinations are perfect so sometimes experimenting a bit is worth the end result. It, of course, depends on the combination, whether it’s something...
