What is the most you've spent (or would spend) on a lipstick?

The Louboutin lipsticks are $90 a pop, and I have reviewed a few, but the price point is prohibitive enough for many that it’s not a formula I’ve ever felt compelled to buy all the shades of. It’s good for me to try, and I know some look to me to give an honest review of something. Other...

What is the most you've spent (or would spend) on a blush or highlighter?

Anything over $100+ makes me question just how much is going to the packaging and how much to the product, and since I am more into functional packaging vs. luxury packaging, I’d be less likely to buy it. Cle de Peau’s highlighters can be purchased as pan-only products for $55, but if you want...

What is the most you've spent (or would spend) on an eyeshadow palette?

I think palettes priced around $50 or less is a good mark for more budgets than less. That seems to be the sweet spot for getting some value out of buying multiple shades all at once, giving up the ability to customize, etc. I don’t think that palettes at $100+ are “worth it” in the sense...

What is the most you've spent (or would spend) on a foundation?

For me, when they start to be over $80, it’ll make me really scrutinize to see what I’m supposed to be getting for the +$30-50. I’d be willing to spend it if it was the perfect foundation for me (shade, texture, finish, coverage, wear, etc.). I regularly use two shades in a given foundation...

How much should a founder be involved in a brand's social media?

It’d be nice to get interviews or some feel for the founder when it comes to newer brands or ones that have a real story behind them, but too often, founders are incapable of behaving professionally for long. I think that they should consider having personal accounts and sharing some...

What are your weaknesses when it comes to eyeshadows?

What are your weaknesses when it comes to eyeshadows?

Intense pigmentation, satin to pearl finishes (though I’m digging metallic finishes these days), smooth, creamy, moderately dense textures that aren’t too thick or too thin. If it applies pretty well on bare skin, I know it’ll be just that much better over primer.

What are your weaknesses when it comes to lipsticks?

Luminous/pearly finishes — it can be hard to find, particularly at sub-$30 price points. I love shine, creaminess, and a little shimmer in my lip color.

What are your weaknesses when it comes to highlighters?

I kind of dig highlighters of all types–barely-there to glitter–but I tend to like ones that have some color to them!

What are your weaknesses when it comes to blushes?

At least medium coverage, if not mostly opaque coverage, with a cream-powder like feel and a pearl to metallic finish! And if they make it in coral… 😉

What are your must-have affordable lip products?

ColourPop Ultra Satins, Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gels. Jack Black Lip Balm… though I don’t know if that’s truly affordable when it comes to lip balm.
