Will your holiday beauty spending stay the same, go up, or be reduced?

Will your holiday beauty spending stay the same, go up, or be reduced?

I think it’ll be about the same, possibly a little down. I used to feel compelled to do a lot of reviewing of mini sets and kits featuring permanent shades, but in the last two years, the interest seems lower or else people feel good about purchasing regardless – I think that’s a testament to...

Have you purchased from a brand collaboration even if you weren't in love with the products?

Have you purchased from a brand collaboration even if you weren't in love with the products?

I purchase a lot of stuff I have no personal interest in, soooo, unfair for me to really answer. Generally, I don’t purchase just to “support” or to obtain particular packaging because I might have an affinity for the theme. Like if I want something from so-and-so franchise, then I’ll buy...

What makes a collaboration product or collection well-done?

What makes a collaboration product or collection well-done?

I like seeing thoughtfulness / tie-ins from packaging to the names to the kind of shades. I don’t need a literal translation of the makeup looks worn in a particular movie, but I want to see the aesthetic or the look and feel of the world it is set in. For individuals/influencers/celebrities, I...

How do you feel when brands collaborate with others (individuals, companies, franchises, etc.)?

How do you feel when brands collaborate with others (individuals, companies, franchises, etc.)?

Do you hesitate to use limited edition products?

Do you hesitate to use limited edition products?

Experience has taught me that I love a LOT of products, so I might as well use when I want to because it’s so, so rare that I’d finish it to begin with!

Do you feel priming is an essential part of your routine?

I’m more used to NOT using primer than using it these days, so it’s definitely not essential to my routine. I do still reach for primer for non-testing days if I expect to be out of the house longer!

What's one product you hold onto even though it doesn't work for you?

I don’t think there are any I hold onto personally; there are plenty that I have in the “archives” for blog-related reasons that I don’t like.

Have you ever had trouble letting products go (or de-stashing them)?

Have you ever had trouble letting products go (or de-stashing them)?

In the first years after getting into makeup, yeah, I had some, especially anything I really loved or was loved by others (but I didn’t LOVE) so I worried I might “learn to love it” later. These days, no, not at all!

What are three eye products you used to use frequently years ago but rarely use now?

Tom Ford Nude Dip (replaced with Natasha Denona Biba), MAC Plushlash Mascara (now I have no loyalty to a mascara), and MAC Espresso Eyeshadow (used to fill in my brows with it).
