Dose of Colors Block Party Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a new formula that’s “packed with tons of reflects” for an “ultra-dazzling finish.” It is recommended that they be applied with fingertips for maximum intensity (and the swatches thus use fingertips), but they can be used “using your preferred brush” for softer coverage. I was able to apply them using brushes and build up, but fingertips certainly yielded richer coverage with less work and helped the overall product adhere more strongly to the skin.

Swatches alone and I’m sold, but I can’t justify $20 for a single eyeshadow when I want several of these. Sizzle, Shell We Dance, Nightsky, and Hot Mesh are calling my name. I feel like all of these could pull of a beautifully dramatic but simple look when applied all over the lid with something in the crease to kind of smoke it out. I might have to wait for a sale to pick one up.

Seeing the swatches for these makes me want them less. I was salivating over these, but now I’m like “eh. I can take them or leave them.” Maybe when things cool down outside, I’ll be more interested, but for the summer they aren’t something I’m interested in. Also, am I the only one who feels like Double Take, Caffeine Queen, & Wild and Free are too similar to need each of those shades?

I agree with you that swatches have actually squashed my desire for them. They look glittery and chunky in the swatches. The YouTube videos made them look very metallic and smooth. I am beginning to think that YouTube is able to pull Jedi Mind Tricks, as these look very different. I almost pulled the trigger on these, but now I am glad that I waited. Maybe the reviews will change my mind but for now, I’m good without them.

Agreed – while you CAN see a difference, I think they’re going to end up being functional dupes.

The swatches definitely killed my desired for these too: they’re just too glittery!

Some of these are really appealing to me. I love the looks of sizzle, double take, reflection and olive you. I think I probably have dupes for reflection and oliver you. but I may have to scoop up sizzle and double take.

I thought Dose was more moderately priced than this. I had sticker shock on Ulta. Is this a move like the MUG HL business, where there was an abrupt increase in line price for a specific product? These would be fun to learn to use, but undoubtedly too glittery for this old thang.

$20 may seem expensive for these, until one considers the size of these; they’re twice the size of a MAC Veluxe Pearl eyeshadow single!
That said, I think I like far too many of these! OMG: Sizzle is giving me LIFE! ?And then there’s Teal Me More, Nightsky, Olive You, Hot Mesh, and Shell Me More.?
Can we see the problem with that? $120? ?

What!!!??? I wasn’t counting how many are cute, and you’re right that would be costly…well another one bits the dust. (My wallet is happy. ;))

At first glance I thought someone had finally put together the all-duochrome palette of my dreams! Alas, $20 for one shade is waayyyy beyond my reach.

Ramona Avatar

Is the formula similar or the same to the Dose x Desi and Katy eye shadows?
I want to maybe get one or five but $20, is far too expensive for one.

I told myself that I don’t need them in my life as I already own a drawer of ColorPop Shock Shadows .. but .. I feel weak once I look at them.

Encore
Lock and Key
Double Take
Caffeine Queen

Are my favorite, so I might consider losing 80 $ .. might.

I picked up five of these and actually received them in the mail today. I purchased them awhile ago directly from Dose of Colors before my no-buy (lets be real here, it is going to be a low buy and not a no-buy I fear!!). Anyway, I have not put them on my eyes yet and only swatched on my arm and blended them out with my finger. The shades that I picked were Color Me Teal, Nightsky, Olive You, Reflection and My Jam. I found that on my fair skin they all appeared to have a darker base that was very strong when blended out. Some of the glitter remained and seemed well adhered to the base but some sprinkled all over and I feel will have fall-out through the day if a tacky base is not used. I preferred them patted on and not blended out as the color remained truer for me. They are definitely not as metallic as they appeared in swatches I saw on IG and YT. I will have to see how they perform on the eyes so not saying I am disappointed in them yet but feel like I might be.

There is a lot of cross over between these and the UD Moondust shadows. As long as these have the quality, they’re a better deal by a long shot (WAY more product and for $1 less). I only have one or two that I wanted that I couldn’t satisfactorily dupe from my collection (Double Take and Olive You).

Some really desirable colours here for me, personally, and I’m not too put off by the glitter (I love glitter if it stays where it’s supposed to be) but the reality is that I probably have multiple “pre-dupes” for the 5 or 6 colours I love best. And since I can’t get Dose of Colours in store anywhere, it’s an enforced “skip” for me.

The green palette is trying to call to me! But I am resisting. LOL! They look nice, but I’m really looking for a dark palette with purples, blues and greens with mattes and transition shades too (as well as a silver-blue,winter wonderland one by someone like Natasha Denona that I still haven’t seen.)

Hey all – I ordered Wild and Free, Sky’s the limit and Caffeine Queen and have to say…pretty disappointed for the price. The texture is dry (after hearing reviews that described them as creamy) and if blended at all the reflect sheers out to just a sprinkling of glitter over the matte base color. I think some of the other shades look like they are metallic bases with reflect mixed in, so maybe blending out wouldn’t affect those in the same way (Heart of gold, for example). I tried packing on Caffeine Queen over a Nudestix base and ended up with tiny reflects (aka glitter) scattered around my eye and beneath it by the end of the work day. Also a previous comment about some shades being very similar is pretty spot on…note purchases above. Need to pull together the energy to pack these up and send them back 🙁
