Survey Says... March 30th, 2016
Happy Wednesday! Here's this week's survey, which you can copy and paste and share as a comment.
- Your skin tone/coloring:
- What’s been your favorite lip product this spring?
- What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring?
- What’s been your favorite eye product this spring?
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? UD Manic or Clarins Raspberry Gloss Prodige
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? MAC Sweet Sentiment or IT “Love” CC Blush Stain (it’s part of a 3-pan face palette)
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Hmmm – tough one! Probably the 2 cream to powder shadows I have from Lise Watier – Sortilege and Vert Enchante. They are SO great. And I’m loving the Chocolate Bon Bons palette, especially the lighter shades, which I pair with those Lise Watier shadows.
Skin tone: fair/cool. Nw10
Lips: Lorac Alter Ego lip glosses. My sister got me a 6 pack for my birthday & OMG. THEY ARE SO PIGMENTED. Like almost a liquid lipstick. But they also feel amazing on my lips, and are incredibly moisturizing. I wear a light color at night as a lip balm, and my lips are in so much better condition!! No more chunks of dry skin in the am! They also look great on–smooth, even, and make my lips look full. Have I raved enough? TRY THEM.
Cheeks: nothing as good here. I did buy the Too Faced heart shaped blush in the bright pink color & am enjoying it–gives a lovely, glowy finish. But it’s not life changing.
Eyes: I’ve been using the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons & the L’Oreal mono shadows most days. I like the smell & colors in the Bon Bons–neutrals that are cool enough to work for me, if I’m careful, with some colors. And the matte shades of the L’oreal monos are absolutely divine. So pigmented & creamy.
Your skin tone/coloring: Cool-toned and pale
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? I haven’t gotten anything new, but I’m picking up every Revlon balm stain in Lovesick I can find, since that color has been discontinued.
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? In general I’m getting more into mineral blushes. They’re great for the way I apply blush.
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Ulta’s automatic liner pencil in charcoal. It gives good definition and smudges in a way that works well.
Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair with neutral undertones; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Unicorn Tears. It looks good over everything!
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? Urban Decay Bittersweet; Tarte Exposed; UD x Gwen Stefani Blush Palette; Looxi Beauty highlighters.
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette; Too Faced Peanut Butter & Jelly Palette; UD Urban Spectrum Palette; Wet n Wild Mega Liner in Case of the Blue (LE).
Rachel,
I always enjoy reading your posts! I love how much you interact with everyone. It seems you give great recommendations often. And I love your taste in makeup!
Joyce, thank you! I love interacting with the people here. This is such a nice community.
Oooh, Unicorn Tears!!! I love that one! Tried to nab one on Monday at Ulta, but they were sold out. So I wound up getting Melted Villian instead. But it’s not the same as the tester, it’s oily/watery? Idk? But not as strong of a purple.
The Melteds can separate really quickly. Try kneading the tube, then gently squeeze out the little bit of oil left at the top. Melted Villain is a gorgeous shade, so I hope that helps. If not, you night try exchanging it.
Good news! Rachel, I did exactly that after reading your suggestion and now it works! Thanks for that tip, because my method of shaking it like salad dressing wasn’t doing squat. ?
Yay! I’m glad it worked for you.
Your skin tone/coloring: light medium, warm yellow tone. About an NC20-25 or NARS Fiji.
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring?: Ooh this is a hard one. I’ve been liking my Fresh tinted lip balm in Passion a lot, and have rekindled my love of lipgloss haha. I’ve been obsessing over finding a good dupe of the discontinued NARS gloss in Oasis. I’m also into the KVD studded kiss in Lolita and Tom Ford’s Leonardo.
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring?: I’ve recently purchased Tom Ford Love Lust and it is just gorgeous! I’ve also liked using some of the MUFE shadows–Tea Pink, Raspberry, and another Coral Pink–as blushes too.
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring?: Tom Ford Nude Dip! That glow it gives to the eyes is lovely. I have also been using my UD Naked palette a lot and have picked up the UD Vice 4, which has a lot of really nice springy shades.
Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium with yellow undertones, dark brown eyes, black hair
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring?: Spring has just started, so I don’t think I have one yet! But my recent most-used lip color is still Revlon Peach Parfait.
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring?: TheBalm Hot Mama or Physicians Formula Happy Booster Natural
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring?: Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette or Sephora Love Affair eyeliner
Your skin tone/coloring: NARS Siberia (I got a tan and can finally wear my foundation without putting white toner in it!)
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? I’ve been wearing Colourpop’s Marshmallow every day since I bought it!
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? MAC’s “Warm Soul”
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? The Tartelette palette!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, black hair, blue eyes
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? Bite Beauty Beetroot (although I’m surprised at how much I like Guerlain’s new La Petite Robe Noire formula)
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? Hourglass Strobing Powders
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Tarte Rainforest of the Sea palette, by a mile
Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.
Lip Product: It has been refreshingly cool & crisp (so far!) lately, so I’ve just been relying on various lip balms, with no particular “favorite”…
Cheek Product: Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Radiant Lights; it just imparts a nice, dewy glow without too much “color”, no glitter/shimmer, and is talc- & petroleum-free. It’s also $6, and is quite similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills highlighters… I also really like the NYX Strobe of Genius palette, because of the nice range of colors, but it does contain talc, so it’s not an “everyday” product…
Eye Product: I recently picked up the MAC Nordstrom Now palette, and have been quite surprised by how much I love, in spite of some of the warmer shades! Even the more “bronzey” shades are quite neutral, and pair well with the cooler shades. That said, it is my newest product, which is why it’s been getting so much attention, but I really should pull out my “newer” UD palettes, which I acquired in such rapid succession, Spectrum hasn’t even been swatched…
Medium Warm (MAC NC 37)
Lip: MAC’s Let’s Be Friends lipstick
Cheek: Chanel’s Coral Ribbon blush
(With honorable mention going to MAC’s Flamingo Park blushes in Life’s a Picnic, This Could be Fun, and Let’s be Friends)
Eyes: I have so many wonderful palettes I’m enjoying, but hands down I am creating my most favorite spring eye looks with my Kat Von D La Vida Loca Remix Palette.
Totally with you on these Tammy! I am loving these same three blushes (it’s honestly a struggle deciding between them each day). And Have Your Cake is also in heavy rotation. I just took out all my fav spring lip colours which include MAC Crosswires, Up the Amp and Craving. I also have been wearing Revlon Lollipop, Flirtatious and Whimsical. I am very fair and cool NC20, so bright and dark lip/blush combos work well on me.
I stick very natural with shadows (no pops of colour) simply because it might all be a little too much for the office if I did.
Your skin tone/coloring: neutral to warm medium skin, brown eyes, brown hair
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? Glosses in general; have really been loving Sephora Ultra Shine in Love Me Pink and finally started using my UD Sesso which is a great color
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? That’s tough with my recent influx of highlighters lol, but probably ABH Glow Kit in Gleam
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? TF Bon Bons palette: neutrals+ pink= great for spring!
Same about the Bon Bons palette! What are your go-to looks?
I love Satin Sheets on the inner lid, Sprinkles + Cotton Candy on the middle lid, and Mocha + Bordeaux on the outer lid & crease. I line with Sephora Love Affair & top that with Black Currant.
I also love Molasses Chip on the lid and Mocha + Malted on the outer lid & crease. I line with Urban Decay Whiskey & top that with Dark Truffle.
I thought I would love Cafe au Lait, but I haven’t really used it. I haven’t even touched Totally Fetch yet. Any ideas?
I now have TWO pans of Totally Fetch. Totally Waste for me….but I can use them on my lips, with a bit of gloss. I just don’t get vibrant pink eyeshadow….it just isn’t a natural or flattering shade on my eyes. But using it on lips or cheeks can help it not be such a waste! Skimming through this thread, it’s interesting to see just how many of us are using the Chocolate Bon Bons palette just now.
Molasses Chip is awesome! If I had to pick a single favorite out of the palette it might be that one. Cafe au Lait is another favorite though, because it’s in the same vein strongly shimmery neutrals- and I actually like to pair it with Totally Fetch! I wear Cafe au Lait all over the lid, Sprinkles as an inner corner highlight, and then take a very soft and fluffy brush (like Wayne Goss 03) and dip lightly in TF. It’s SO pigmented, you barely have to tap. I concentrate some in my outer corner, and then blend into my crease as well. When it mixes with Cafe au Lait, it makes a beautiful, more subtle color and finish. I tightlined with black, but a charcoal or even deep plum would probably look really nice.
My struggle is with Earl Grey. I tried to use it once in the same way that I use Totally Fetch above, but it was so strongly cool and gray it made me look dead! I had to layer a bunch of things on top of it to try to cover, haha. I’ve been too scared to touch it since. Maybe I’ll try it as a liner, but I usually just use pencil. Open to suggestions! 🙂
Skin Tone: Fairest Neutral (Tom Ford Cream, Bobbi Brown Porcelain or Alabaster, KVD L42, Guerlain Beige Pale, Laura Mercier TM Porcelain, etc) with cool eyes/hair/lips.
So far this spring:
Fav Lip Product: Definitely been using CP’s Ultra Satins and their matching pencils a lot so far. Marshmallow, Panda, and The Rabbit have probably gotten the most wear from my set. And I’ve been rotating through my Rouge G’s a lot on days where I want to apply straight from the tube but that’s all the time 😛 Some oranges have been sneaking in there, too. Also lots of gray since I’m testing out how I like CP’s charcoal pencil for Petit Four (the pencil is much darker than the corresponding Satin).
Fav Cheek Product: Spring is always a great time to pull out the fun bright colors so lots of NARS Exhibit A, Taj Mahal, and Coeur Battant for fresh looks. Surratt blushes are nice for spring since they build and layer beautifully so been going for those often too. Looxi and ColourPop highlighters have been getting my love yet again. The Looxi kickers are so nice on the skin. And I’ve been trying to play with the few bronzers in my collection.
Eye Product: I got my first UD Vault with XX as a gift so that’s been keeping me super busy! So fun to play with. And lots of loose pigment looks predominantly with Fyrinnae. Lots of interesting duochromes from UD/Fyrinnae combos. If I’m not doing something fun and colorful, it’s just very fresh-faced so things like a touch of highlighter and bronzer on the lids only. Looxi shadows have been great for me so far and the highlighters make for excellent buildable eye shades as well.
Superb Nars blushes!
Your skin tone/coloring: warm light
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? I have re-discovered a long neglected lipstick, Essence All About Cupcake.
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? My Parisian Blush in Corail de Ville from the Lancôme spring collection.
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Nothing is really standing out so far!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fairest neutral. Rediscovering old foundations that never worked for me and trying to use them up by mixing in white foundation and lavender primer. Mixed success! MUFE Mat Velvet + Foundation in #15 Alabaster is a good match at the moment. ?
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? If I had to pick one (and something besides my constantly used lip balm) it would be one of the new La Petite Robe Noire lipsticks that Guerlain brought out. I didn’t think much of them at first but I know that Guerlain knows its stuff when it comes to lipstick so I tried one in the colour 061 Pink Ballerinas. It’s such a pretty, shiny pink, and I personally like the fruity scent but I’m not sure everyone will. It’s a lovely colour for Spring!
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? I’m rediscovering two old cheek colours, one much older than the other! The first is ancient, or seems like it is, it’s my Prescriptives Illuminator. It’s one of those shimmer brick type of products but it only has three colours, a pale, shimmery gold, a warm pink and a sort-of-neutral brown. Swirling your brush in it and applying on your cheeks gives you such a healthy glow! it’s on the warmer side of things so it may not suit everyone but I quite like that look, especially in Summer! The other cheek product is MAC Blonde MSF. I love this to death so I’m relieved that it’s so big! It’s the perfect, intensely shimmery pink cheek colour! Great if you’re into that kind of look. ?
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? I’ve been reaching for my MAC neutral palette that I made up years ago in one of the old 15 pan palettes. It’s got a whole array of my favourite MAC neutrals, from pale skin tone shades and brow bone highlights like Vanilla and Dazzelight to shimmery lid colours like All That Glitters and Naked Lunch and various crease colours such as Wedge and Handwritten. I remember being so excited as I slowly filled the palette and I’m as happy with my choices today as I was back then. Then I pair my neutral eyeshadow with a bright eyeliner for an easy but fun look. I’ve been doing variations on that look for years but I still think it’s a good look on me so I keep doing it! Work days don’t count though, no bright eyeliner there sadly. That’s where my black and brown eyeliners come into play, both liquid and pencil.
I’ve talked enough, I’ll end it there! ?
Oh yes to those lovely MAC neutral shades, Gillian! I forgot to include mine below which I ALWAYS tend to use in conjunction with my super shimmery shades within UD Spectrum an BH Foil Eyes. Handwritten is a CLASSIC. And for me, so are Folie, Kid, Soft Brown, Arena, etc. Getting Haux, Blackberry, ATG or Grain, Coral and likely Expensive Pink next month. Thinking of Copperplate, but that may run too cool on me, Idk?
Skin tone/coloring: light
Favorite lip product: I’ve been wearing Too Faced Melted Chihuahua and KVD Lolita a lot lately. I’ve also been wearing a lot of reds – mainly UD Rocksteady and NYX Alabama (which I got as much for the name as for the shade…Roll Tide!) – because they look good with several work outfits I’ve been wearing lately. There is no right or wrong season for red! ☺
Favorite cheek product: Too Faced Baby Love or Hush from the UD Gwen Stefani blush palette
Favorite eye product: UD Vice LTD 2 palette. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons is a close second.
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium to Dark Tan with Olive undertones

What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? This summer the only thing I’ve been putting on my eyes is mascara and I’m really like the Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara. It’s not waterproof but it stays all day and does not clump and makes my eyes look a lot more open!
Your skin tone/coloring: NC 42-44, Bobbi Brown Warm Honey, NARS Cuzco (velvet matte tint)
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? Chanel Pygmalion & Desinvolte Rouge Coco Shines – pinky coral awesomeness

Favorite eye product this spring: am pulling out MJ Sunset more often; also, am liking Kiehls ‘line reducing, eye brightening’ serum (hydrating, works nicely for daytime in that it doesn’t mess up mascara etc.)
For eyes, I liked Weenie by ColourPop, one of the super shock shadows. The last new lip color I got was Mac’s Nice to Meet You from the Fashion Flock collection but I keep forgetting to wear it. I hope to get one of the new UD blushes soon.

Fave eye product this Spring: Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. I haven’t had time to do any eye looks before work so I slap this on and go. It’s been my go-to for months now.

What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? Mac Warm Soul Blush
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? Urban Decay Primer and Mac Paint Pot. I need to use both with my oily lids in order to not get creasing within an hour. Using those 2 (switching up the primer sometimes when I run out of the UD one) is the only thing that keeps my shadow lasting all day. I’ve tried using each separately but I need both together in order for my shadow to last.
Which MAC Paint Pot do you recommend? I’m looking to get one for my oily lids too.
I think they are mostly all the same formula wise (for the non shimmer ones that is). I’m fair/light complected and I use Soft Ochre and Layin Low mostly. I just got stormy pink for when I want a cooler toned look.

What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring?: ColourPop “Prenup” has been my go-to – so glowy and gorgeous
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring?: I’ve been using my Too Faced Boudoir Eyes and ColourPop shadows a lot lately.
Go,you women in Coeur Battant! It flatters so many skin tones. It came out during my tone it down a notch period, so never got it.
Coloring: prob NW25. Cover Fx P 30 and P lt-med BB.
Lips: liking mauvies, like Nyx perfect, hope. But I tend to use newer acqs. The Nyx order was bec. They are phasing out the old standard Taupe, and it was never at my nearby Ulta. So I snagged some non-Ulta lips, too.
Eyes: MUFE gray brown matte to the crease, Crystalline gray beige, and eggshell? (From the studio case/matte) for the ‘browbone ‘ (’cause I really have no space there.). I feel a surge of Tarte Mattnificence coming on, as well as hits of Vice editions.
Cheeks: was messing around last night, and really liked this one. ‘Course, it was dark, so it mightn’t stand the light of day. MUFE dark purple pink, I think the shade name is. Not a MUFE labeled as blush. Light app, heavy buff. With the pink Fiona Stiles highlighter. The Fiona is an extraordinarily light highlighter for these days of strobing. But it’s pretty good for an ancient one like me. Most folks don’t seem to understand her concept, and some even think it’s contour. Not. Aside from the tiny sparkle from the Fiona, it looked remarkably NOT made up, for such an intense MUFE color.
I’ve not been out that much, although I’ve had a very busy late winter/early spring with family birthdays, at least one or two a month, and special occasions (NYE, then Valentine’s then my fiance’s and my anniversary, then Mothers Day then Easter), so my flat has been having lots of coming and goings. So I’ve not had enough time or energy to enjoy putting on makeup. Just trying to keep up with looking after my toddler, shopping for food and the housework in between! Been mainly just having blusher and lipbalm on – my go-to’s have been BareMinerals The Royal Court and either Maybelline’s Baby Lips or Birchbox Arrow’s colour changing lipbalm.
Oops, forgot to add my skin colour/tone! It’s fair, cool leaning neutral (NARS Terre Neuve/ BareMinerals 01 Opal). Dark auburn hair, green-grey eyes.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with warm undertones, dark brown eyes and medium brown hair.
What’s been your favorite lip product this spring? Wet N’ Wild Bare it All for a nice peachy-nude lip or Mac Mangrove when I want an extra pop of color (or Nyx Indie Flick if I want to save my LE Mac lipstick!)
What’s been your favorite cheek product this spring? City Color Be Matte Blush in Papaya because it gives the perfect matte flush, perfect for layering up with my Physician’s Formula Mineral Glow Pearls in Beige Pearl.
What’s been your favorite eye product this spring? The Elf Baked Shadow Trio in Lavender Love for a pretty, hazy lilac look or the same product in the shade Peach Please because I can create a warm peachy bronze wash on the lid or dampen a brush and dip into the rich brown and put it all over the lid for a sultry warm smokey eye that’s ridiculously easy to do.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with neutral/yellow undertones
