Winter skin savior you can’t live without? I received a Sunday Riley set for Christmas that included Good Genes and a few deluxe samples, including the retinol serum. They are annoyingly effective lol. I dread the retinol sample running out.

Lip balm that never fails you? Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm!

Baths or showers? Showers, I need immediate warmth.

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name (blue-green eyes).

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Oh, I have a few! Rose Hip Oil for my face, Aveeno Eczema treatment hand cream, and Suave Cocoa Shea Nourishing Lotion for my body.

Lip balm that never fails you? Jack Black Lip Balm. It’s the best ever, nuff said.

Baths or showers? Because I have trouble getting up out of the bathtub, I absolutely prefer showers. As hot as I can tolerate them, too.

Celesta Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Lately it’s been the SheaMoisture Pressed Serum Moisturizer.

Lip balm that never fails you? Laneige Lip Glowy Balm and Nivea Blackberry Lip Care. The lip balm from Farmacy is great too.

Baths or showers? Showers. I don’t find baths relaxing, lol. Cleaning myself is enough work as it is; I’d rather get in, do my business, and get out as fast as I can.

V Avatar

Hell yessss to the Tatcha Camellia gold spun balm! I’d love to stew in my own filth until I become tea right now. It’s freezing here so getting undressed for a hot shower is brutal.

Wednesday Avatar

It’s freezing here too and baths are the only way I can warm up these bones when I get chilled. I have RA and one of the first recommendations given to me for pain and mobility maintenance is daily baths. I swear by them. The tea comment.. thanks for the laugh! I’ll never look at my bath quite the same.

V Avatar

I’m glad I didn’t gross you out! I also have RA so I’m glad you have a good bathtub. I’ve been attached to my heating pad. Doesn’t work so swell for RA hands so I use Bane Folk’s mandrake ointment (for aches and for maddeningly itchy skin or bites), their belladonna ointment and their datura ointment for RA pain / major pain. I’d definitely call them “winter skin saviors” with what RA does to mine.

Seraphine Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light neutral skin, green eyes, s&p hair.

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Because of where I live, I don’t have the skin issues that happen to people who live in climates that get seriously cold. My current year-round regulars are Kiehl’s Creme de Corps, CeraVé Facial Moisturizing Lotion, and Kiehl’s Avocado Under Eye Treatment.

Lip balm that never fails you? For regular lip balm, I’m currently loving Jack Black Lip Balm. For tinted lip balm, I absolutely adore Dior Addict Lip Glow.

Baths or showers? Definitely showers. I find baths kind of boring and a little icky. (Yes, I do know that I’m probably the only person in the entire world who feels this way!)

Seraphine Avatar

Oh good, I’m not THAT weird! You know how you see images of a woman relaxing in a bubble bath surrounded by candles and reading a novel (usually in a Lifetime movie)? It always looks so nice, but I envision myself accidentally dropping the book in the bath and making a clumsy grab for it, which knocks over the candles and sets the bathroom on fire. So not relaxing.

DVa Avatar

LOL. NO you’re not Seraphine.
I have a Dutch father who used to rant about “sitting in your own filth”. I’m not sure that’s why I don’t bath (although when I have, his words ring in my head), more I find it wasteful (for me) as I get in and five minutes later I’m bored and am thinking about all the other things I could be doing…

Your skin tone/coloring: Light/Neutral
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? I love the Colour Pop face oils (I have Skin Hero which I think was discontinued and the jojoba… prefer the Jojoba when my skin is super dry at night and Skin Hero is great for the day) topped with moisturizer. If my skin gets flaky I like to add FAB Ultra Repair BarriAIR Cream. Not the normal one, that doesn’t do enough for my skin. The BarriAIR cream is what helps so so much.
Lip balm that never fails you? Aquaphor at night! I rotate through different balms depending on how my lips feel that day and what flavor sounds good, but I always use Aquaphor before I go to bed.
Baths or showers? Showers 100%. I think the last time I took a bath was when I was a child – they just don’t appeal to me at all.

Cherie Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Medium, Olive. neutral undertones
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Kiehl’s creme de corp and Weleda skin food
Lip balm that never fails you? I hate to admit it – but its Carmex. I feel like I’ve tried every lip balm under then sun and when I lips are in trouble, I turn to plain ol’ Carmex.
Baths or showers? Showers. 10min max.

Ana Maria Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium yellow warm undertone, dark brown hair and eyes

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? A good oil (or oil mix) that I can use for both face (to seal my evening skincare), body (to soothe any rough dry patches) and hair (to tame my frizzies). Pure squalane oil works great for me, but I also love the Oil Booster from Paula’s Choice.

Lip balm that never fails you? Paula’s Choice lip balm with SPF, treats my lips with moisture while protecting them from the sun.

Baths or showers? Showers, I hate sitting in a bath of water. Showers are more efficient and I find the flow of water more relaxing.

lt-lt med. Winter savior: Cosrx Balancium Comfort or Paula Clinical, both ceramides. Lip balm: Laneige lip sleeping, Catrice Lip Pyjama. Baths, a metric ton of baths now! I got 3 large/20 oz or larger size liquid bath products at the Asian marketplace, and got home to find the YesStyle order that had shut down two cards, and I thought had been cancelled. That had a trio of HUGE DUO O’Naomi bath quarts. The package felt like ~5 #. Oy, vay. I probably have a totally of 10-12 quarts in total, just the old and new Asian ones. I truly never expected to receive that order. A real wait, what???? moment. Good thing I procrastinated on the Purito from Amazon…. And yes, zero color cosmetics from HK/Korea. Thinking I was being virtuous for only s/c and bath, waaaay too much bath.

Mariella Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Ombra Melkfett Cream (no longer being made; I’m glad I have a large tub of it); Embryolisse face cream, and for face AND body, Burt’s Bees baby ointment stuff. For my body, I also love L’Occitane Almond Oil and The Body Shop Japanese Camelia Body Butter.
Lip balm that never fails you? For the moment, it’s Kiehl’s Butterstick, O’Keefe’s lip balm stick and Burt’s Bees tinted lip balm stick. I no longer know anyone who sells Avon, unfortunately, because I have a Care Deeply lip balm with aloe that probably cost 99 cents and is every bit as good as pricier balms
Baths or showers? Both, but mostly showers.

Veronica Avatar

NC15, light auburn hair, hazel eyes.
More like year round to me, but Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic+Retinol Brightening Solution.
We don’t have seasons here, it is mostly heat, more heat, unbearable heat and about 2 weeks of winter.
I only use MAC Lip Conditioner (In the squeeze tube).
Showers! I do wish I had a bathtub every once in a while.

Your skin tone/colouring:
Porcelain, with pink undertones

Winter skin savior you can’t live without?
Facial oils – especially argon and chia seed. They really moisturise my skin and nourish it in the winter months.

Lip balm that never fails you?
I just started using Dermal E’s lip balm and I have found it to be both moisturising on my lips and inexpensive.

Baths or showers?
Showers – I do have a couple of bathtubs in our house (a jolly nuisance to clean), but find showers more convenient.

Erica Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring:light, MAC NC 20
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Face oil

Lip balm that never fails you? Vaseline

Baths or showers?
Both. Baths if I’m relaxing. Showers for cleansing

P Jill Avatar

Coloring/skin tone: Fair/ lighter during the winter for sure.
Winter skin savior: I love the Renee Rouleau Pure Radiance Cream masque every week. ( feels like pure thickened cream and really soothes and quenches my skin)
Lib balm: I still love the Tatcha Camilia Gold Spun Balm!
Showers for sure, instant warmth!

Alice Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Body: SheaMoisture raw shea butter body wash + lotion. Face: Andalou Naturals reservatrol Q10 night repair cream.

Lip balm that never fails you? Burt’s Bees moisturizing lip balms (my fav is cherry).

Baths or showers? After hockey if I’m extra sore a bath with epsom salt and oatmeal is a GIFT but other than that…showers.

Every fall, i find myself with the same problem — dry flakes. It got so bad about five years ago, I wondered if I was ever going to be able to wear foundation again. It looked so terrible. I tried everything under the sun. And, I mean everything — even if only by sample. The Sephora sales ladies would see me and run. I pestered so many people trying to find a solution. Even my beloved Decleor failed me. I haven’t preached this simple solution to terrible flaking on this blog in a couple years, so now’s the time again. Walmart sells it in a 5 oz bottle — pure glycerin — for the sum total of $3.88. A pin head size dot on my cheeks, forehead and chin, right next to my blob of moisturizer — and it’s heaven. I only have to apply it once a day now. So, if you have my problem with your skin, do yourself a favor and try it. It really, really works for me. It’s less than a Starbucks and the bottle lasts a long, long time. Plus, you can put a drop into your body lotion.

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? My the ordinary Marula and Rosehip Seed oils
Lip balm that never fails you? Laneige!!!! Both glossy balm and night mask
Baths or showers I wish I could be a bath person ….showers for me though

Your skin tone/coloring: Light brown/neutral undertones
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? The newest is Tatcha’s Dewey Skin Cream. It’s ridiculously expensive amazingly effective. It has obliterated every other moisturizing cream right off my bathroom counter.
Lip balm that never fails you? EOS Sweet mint.
Baths or showers? Showers. Bath’s take too long during, before and after, lol!

Amy Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light/Fair – Neutral Undertones
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? SKINFIX Remedy+ 911 Ointment. I can’t be without it.
Lip balm that never fails you? SKINFIX Remedy+ 911 Ointment. Works here, too.
Baths or showers? Showers. 100%!

DVa Avatar

Skin tone/coloring: Fair-light neutral

Winter skin savior can’t live without? Farmacy Honey Grail Oil

Lip balm that never fails? Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask

Baths or showers: Showers always. LOL. We’ve removed tubs in our last place and this current home for much larger walk-in glass showers. In the past I’ve maybe taken baths 1x per year (if I’m really cold) and then I stay in it for 5 minutes and I’m bored–seems like such a waste.
In our new home (we reno’d and moved in this summer) I replaced the tub with a 5ft long makeup vanity with loads of pull outs, drawers for my palettes, stand up cabinetry for my brushes and foundations… It’s a dream.
One I use every single day vs. once a year for a bath.

?Winter skin savior? Neutrogena Norwegian formula ?

?Lip balm? Blister Lip Medex for winter chapped lips, using since 1995

?Baths or showers? Tough one.. love both but bath is more of a production, so shower I guess ?‍♀️

Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Winters are relatively mild here in the PNW. I don’t need anything special for winter.

Lip balm that never fails you? Jack Black

Baths or showers? Showers. I don’t like sitting in water that’s turning cold. Plus, I have a back injury from a an old car accident that would make sitting on a hard tub floor really uncomfortable or even painful.

Heather Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Light/medium neutral
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Egyptian Magic and Embryolisse
Lip balm that never fails you? Lansinoh Lanolin Cream and O’Keeffe’s Lip Repair
Baths or showers? Both

V Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: It varies from fair/pink with a little yellow all the way to sheer greyish alien-pale-anemic-winter chic.

Winter skin savior you can’t live without:
Gentle facial soaps from BelaDoce Botanicals all over! They don’t dry out my sensitive dry skin at all. Also solid cleansing balms. I’m loving Ojo De Le Soul Luminous Facial Oil. I believe it’s only available in dispensaries now because laws or something. It’s a heavier oil. I use natural herbal infused oils and creams that are more like heavy butters, none of which have long shelf lives. Sometimes I use Perricone MD Cold Plasma Body aka Fragile Skin Therapy.

Lip balm that never fails you? Tatcha Camellia Gold Spun but always looking.

Baths or showers? Long showers! I call it detail work. I miss baths so much.

Alecto Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: Next to my name!

Winter skin savior you can’t live without? A more emollient oil for mixing in with my lotion.

Lip balm that never fails you? Notoriously Morbid. Can’t remember what they’re called right now — Coffin Kissers?

Baths or showers? Showers because they’re quick, efficient, and less likely to leave my skin dry or stressed. But if I were to be honest, I really like baths; they’re just not practical or good for me.

V Avatar

Had to add another winter skin savior I genuinely couldn’t live without: ewater shower head filter. I’m hoping for the R.O. water filtration system for the whole house. The filters made a dramatic difference for my skin, my hair, fewer reactions to the nasty rough water where I live. I replace ‘em about twice a year but I’ve known ppl who didn’t need to for well over a year.

Jenna Avatar

Your skin tone/coloring: See above
Winter skin savior you can’t live without? Lush Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner and La Roche Posay Lipikar Balm Intense Repair Moisturizing Cream (body). Dermaquest CBD moisturizer (face).
Lip balm that never fails you? First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Intensive Lip Balm. Any lip balm with a shea butter base.
Baths or showers? Showers. My house is not quiet enough for me to enjoy soaking in the tub.
