Surratt Beauty Grisaille Artistique Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Surratt Beauty Grisaille Artistique Blush
Surratt Beauty Grisaille Artistique Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “contour” shade. It’s a medium, neutral-to-warm-toned taupe that leans brown with a semi-matte finish. MAC Sculpt (P, $16.50) is slightly warmer, lighter, more matte. NARS Paloma Contour (P) is similar. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (P) is warmer. Kevyn Aucoin Natura (P) is rosier, warmer. NYX Taupe (P, $5.00) is cooler-toned. NARS Madly (P, $29.00) is more shimmery, warmer. MAC Taupe Shape ($21.00) is cooler-toned. Burberry Earthy (P, $42.00) is rosier, slightly warmer and lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It had good color payoff that was buildable, but the incredibly soft, silky texture made blending it out a dream, so you could soften or sheer out color if you felt you applied too much. In the pan, the powder feels more like a cream, because of how finely-milled and smooth it is; the texture is the real hallmark of the formula. It’s amazing that there is no powderiness, despite how soft the blush is. Grisaille applied well to the skin and had a natural matte finish; the kind where it doesn’t look flat but isn’t shimmery either. This shade wore well for eight hours before starting to fade on me. As a reminder, the blushes come in thin, lightweight plastic cases, as it is a product designed to live inside a palette (the brand has two sizes available). The packaging is fine for at-home use, but it may be too flimsy for excessive travel as-is.

I especially love the lip, what is it?
Hey Kianna!
It is listed at the end of the post —
THE MAKEUP LOOK
On face: Guerlain Parure de Lumiere, Urban Decay Naked Loose Finishing Powder. On eyes: Troy Surratt Soie, Ingenue, Cuivre Eyeshadows, Marc Jacobs Beauty Ody(sea) and Luna(tic) Eyeliners. On lips: Troy Surratt Perfectionniste.
This is a gorgeous lip colour!
I can definitely see the “effect” of this! makes the cheek look very delicately sculpted! I am actually looking forward to getting the Paloma contour blush.. being a BIG Nars fan and all! 🙂
Enjoy! 🙂
Your skin just looks so amazing. Flawless. Perfect. And I bet it’s not just the blush that’s responsible for that… 🙂 Do you think that you could maybe post a skin care routine post some time? I’d love to learn more about your routine and what products you use.
That’s just foundation 🙂 My routine changes often – I don’t really stick to any products. The only products that really make a difference for me are prescription ones, unfortunately!
Dang… I was hoping to uncover a huge secret here, lol 🙂
Honestly, foundation + powder goes a long way 🙂
It made me sad to see you not smiling in these photos D:
Sorry!
Your face, I like it! Your makeup looks wonderful!
Thanks!
This is quite nice. Looks great on you.
Thank you, Bronwyn!
Your skin looks amazing! I love this look on you!
Thanks a lot, Fancie!
The product pics make me think that Surratt designed these products just for Christine. ;o) The finish/texture on those powders seem pretty remarkable, almost “mattin” or “unpowder,” Round of applause for Surratt’s chemists.
They did a great job on the texture!
Very subtle but pretty!
Thanks!
I love how this look coordinates with your earrings! Can I ask where you got them? Thanks!
Here you go! https://www.etsy.com/shop/BellaAnelaJewelry
Hmm..probably too light for my skintone but looks good on you Christine! I love the Balm’s Bahama Mama bronzer so much that I don’t think I’m ready to switch to any other bronzer anyway lol. I love Parure de Lumiere but it looks amazing with the UD finishing powder on you. Divya….pssh. You don’t need any contouring. What you doing with bronzer ?:p
Thank you, Dee!
Christine you look STUNNING! I love how your earrings mirrors your makeup too. Tres chic! 🙂
Aww, thanks Pami!
Oh, I like this. And I like how it looks on you, Christine. Really lovely. The lipstick is also very nice on you.
I’ll add NARS Paloma on my to look at and swatch list, as we don’t have Surratt here, as far as I know, anyway 🙂
You’re very sweet! Thank you, Helene! 🙂
The texture of these Surratt Beauty blushes sound amazing! I really want to try this out for myself soon!
Let me know if you try!
ooooh, weee! Thinking Troy S has some mighty good stuff, worth the hour schlep to Barney’s. LOVVVVED that Cantaloup. Do you know how many blush pans will fit in various Z-palettes? And is he MAC Taupe one permanent?
MAC Sculpt is permanent, but Taupe Shape is LE!
thanks!
you are killing me with these surratt posts! this blush looks incredible (KA natura is one of my faves-this is different enough to justify both, but similar enough that i know i’ll love it)! of course the eyeshadow and lipstick are both surratt, too! you look gorgeous in these pics-your skin is so flawless! i think i’ll keep looking at this post as incentive to get my house packed up for the move to phoenix-i only have until july 5!!!! i think a trip to barney’s will be happening shortly after!
OMG!!! That is right around the corner! Good luck with your move 😀
And prepare for the HEAT!!!
OK you look stunning here. I have got to get that foundation, like NOW. Just wow! I suppose I should comment on topic – yes the blush is gorgeous but your face – FLAWLESS.
LOL! The foundation is awesome!
I love the texture you described! I’ve been wanting to try some new higher end products so what are some powder products you recommend that have a similar texture? Thank you
Tom Ford, Burberry, Makeup Geek, Edward Bess… are the ones that I could remember off the bat!
I am definitely appreciating how finely milled these powders look on your skin. The texture on all cheek products you have reviewed so far is just lovely, but sadly so far the line isn’t exactly unique to my stash…unless I make the excuse to upgrade. ha!
You look wickedly good in these photos..the whole look..gorgeous!
I hear ya! It’s definitely more of a core range of colors than anything groundbreaking!
Thank you!
That looks like a great score for warm-toned fair skinned ladies.
It should work on that skin tone for sure!
Makeup aside, the photos of you NOT smiling, to me, made me realize just how beautiful you are. You really are stunning Christine. And yes, the blush looks nice too although I have never heard of this brand before.
You’re too kind, Terri! Thank you 🙂
Those eye brows tho! On point! Looks great.
Aw, thanks Brittany!
You look pretty when you smile in pictures.. may be this is the first time I am seeing you not smiling 😛
The blush is working good as a contour.. I am loving your perfectly sculpted face here… 🙂
It’s a nice hue for contouring!
Hmm, I don’t know if I’d be interested in it but it looks nice on you!
Thanks, Rikki!
Oh so beautiful!!!! Absolutely love this look on you, so soft, ethereal. Skin looks absolutely flawless!!!
Thanks so much, Lisa!
I like that it’s cooler tone then the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil but of course there are no stores in Canada. lol
Hopefully they will expand in the next year!
HNGH! Teal eyeliners!!! <3 <3 <3
The contour/blush looks great on you – I wonder if they have a similarly gentle one, but cooler toned?
Unfortunately, just one contour-y shade 🙁
I like that it doesn’t have that crazy orange tint to it! Looks natural on you, Christine! But more importantly, HOW do I get clear and flawless skin like yours?!!! I’m super jel!! ;D
It’s seriously just the foundation!
I love how this has such a cool tone to it!
Me too!
You look amazing in these photos, model quality!!! I really like the look of the contour powder, not too warm either which is rare 🙂
Aw, thanks Mietta!
