Surratt Beauty Auréole Artistique Blush ($32.00 for 0.20 oz.) is described as a “highlight” shade. It’s a very light, gold-shimmered ivory with a soft, frosted finish. Divergent Gleaming Pearl (LE) is warmer, more metallic. NARS Albatross (P, $29.00) is more golden, more shimmery–this is like a less intense version of Albatross. Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight (P, $44.00) is more beige. theBalm Mary Lou-manizer (P, $24.00) is warmer, more shimmery. NARS Debbie Harry Highlighter (LE, $29.00) is lighter. MAC In for a Treat (LE, $30.00) is less golden. MAC Too Chic (LE, $24.00) is similar. Illamasqua Aurora (P, $24.00) is a cream product. Giorgio Armani Moonlight Beige #1 (LE) is less shimmery, more beige. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The powder is ridiculously soft, silky, and smooth–so much so that it almost feels like a cream texture, because it is never powdery and seems to bind very well. It had semi-opaque color coverage, though as a highlighter, one is more likely to apply it with a sheer to semi-sheer effect, which is easily done (you won’t feel like you have to use a featherlight touch with it). For medium or deeper skin tones, a sheer application seems to work best or else the lighter base can look a bit ashy when it gets built up. The shimmer translates to a luminous, glowing finish that doesn’t look frosted or metallic, and as a result, it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s imperfections. Instead, the finish makes skin look radiant and illuminated. On me, the highlighter wears well for almost eight hours before starting to show signs of fading.

Tone wise, this would be a fairly good highlight choice for my skin. Again, as in the blushes from this brand, I am admiring the subtle texture of the product. However, always a sucker for this type of product, I have had to make a mental note to firmly resolve myself to not buying powder highlight..not a single one.. anymore. Sigh. While liquid is a bit more finicky for application, I like the results infinitely better and I found my HG with a custom blend.

That sounds so beautiful – I’ll bet that combo would be absolutely perfect for me too. This texture and application of Surratt Beauty’s sounds divine, but is too golden for my complexion.

Looks so pretty on you! I loved my Lou-Manizer so much until it fell off the shelf and broke lol. I picked up the largest piece very quickly and saved it haha, but I think its time I invested in (yet) another one. How does this compare to the BareMinerals Ready Luminizers in texture Christine?

I’ve broken some of my favorite stuff, but did you know you can put the pieces back in the pan and pour in rubbing alcohol and compress it back? It’s not as good as new like before it broke, but at least you don’t have to trash the entire product. Once the alcohol dries, the stuff is back in usable condition again.

I don’t think I will ever need to buy highlighters as I have a good stock of it but I guess this is what a natural “glow” is.. it looks amazing on you Christine! That picture is making me find fault in my current stash and somehow get hold of this! oops! 🙂

So jealous.
Bought the bright pink one n want to use it but now can’t find where I stored it.
That shows how many hiding places I put my makeup.

The texture of his blushes are Devine.

I’m going to seriously think about this especially with the description that it’s like a more subtle version of NARS Albatross. I never reach for highlighter unless it’s for a special occasion or going somewhere at night–and even this is becoming more rare unless I travel–and Christine, you mentioned that it’s not very travel friendly.

Beauuutiful, and it seems to have the perfect texture, as you described it. It looks like the perfect highlighter, but isn’t it a bit too small? (I’m talking like I ever finished a blush, which I didn’t 🙂 )
