Tom Ford Boys & Girls Ultra-Rich Lip Color ($36.00 for 0.07 oz.) just released with 25 shades. They are “clutch-sized,” which is code for miniature, though they are actually a better value (from a price per ounce perspective) than the brand’s full-sized offerings. There are also 25 shades Lip Color Sheers, and you can find swatches of them here.

Also, a big thank you to Beautylish for supporting Temptalia’s endeavor to swatch all the things and sending one of each shade for swatching. 🙂

First Impressions

The formula is supposed to have “full-coverage, “high-shine” that is moisturizing. The brand has released this formula before in six shades, and based on that experience and swatching through the new 25 shades, I expect a similar experience. They have a more luminous finish with moderate slip, and while they are more pigmented than the Sheers, they are not always full coverage–more like medium and buildable to semi-opaque for most shades. They seemed comfortable and likely to be hydrating over time. The wear in the past has ranged between three and five hours. They have a vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

I’m not likely to pick anything up here because the Lips and Boys formula was really drying and horrible for me and the price is absurd, but these are stunning. I completely love that they’re offering such slight, nuanced variations on popular colors. It’s excessive, but that’s the appeal. Zelda speaks to me, but Bianca! Oh my gosh, so close yet even better! I might try it on even though I got burned on Lips and Boys and am still totally resentful about it. I understand how the sheer shimmer launch makes sense now, but I still think they should have skipped it and done more of these in only slightly different shades of red, nude, berry-rose, etc.

Huge kudos to you for your Herculean feat of swatching ALL of these, plus the Sheers, Christine! And to Beautylish for their getting these to you so speedily!

Okay, as for the shades, I just don’t know. They seem either very easily duped, or like they would look redick on me, ie; Violet. The Sheers had some more unique looking shades, but I’ll just wait and see.

Meh. I wouldn’t classify any of these as full coverage lipsticks, definitely not “ultra rich.” These are much less impressive looking than the previous releases, and don’t appear to be particularly unique.

Lauren,
I agree with you 100%. And too pricey for my budget, especially for a minature lipstick. TF is expensive in general. Still trying to justify the price of Black Orchid perfume. Love the smell but again, hard to do on a limited budget. If I ever hit the lottery, then it’s on lol.

Oooo I love violet! Dakota, Katherine and Sophia seem good too, but I will struggle to justify Tom ford prices. Hopefully if you get round to listing dupes il realise I own one similar to violet.

Uh oh, I was going to skip this year, but I see some nudes that might work on me, and those are tough to find. Hoping your dupes list will save my wallet!

I’m going to admit right up front that I’m a bit weird, but … I have a really hard time convincing myself to buy a lipstick with a person’s name; male or female, doesn’t matter.

Now that we’re past that, I’d like a lipstick the color of Kyra + your lips. My lips aren’t the same color as yours, so Kyra wouldn’t look like that on me, but an opaque version of the end result on you would be wonderful.

I just picked up one of the girls and I notice the bullet of this years editions seems much skinnier and smaller to me than previous years lips and boys. Has anyone else noticed this? I even noticed when searching in store the lipsticks broke very easily (which I never experienced last year)
