It annoys me when brands put out multiple versions of the virtually the same shade and just a few in the deeper range. Tarte needs 9 versions of pale peach and only 4 options for deeper shades?

I’ve lost count of the many brands that will put out an array of pale shades then add oxblood, plum, brown and burgundy to the range and nothing else.

Rant over.

I tried a boat-load of nudes at Sephora the last time I was in, and yes, they were just slightly different, but that difference made a BIG difference once I had the color actually on. I only found ONE that looked really great on. It’s surprising that just a little more of one tone or another can make the color look strange on my face, but that’s what my experience was. I do have several slightly different nude shades and to me, it’s the undertone that makes them look so different when I put them on.
Ok, my rant over now, too! (not really a rant, but just pointing this out)

That’s not a rant Kelly! As someone who would never wear a nude lipstick (I would look like I was ill) I didn’t appreciate the difference between them all. I understand now that the undertone or a slight variation can make a world of difference depending on your skin tone/colouring.
No worries Kelly.

Hi Kate! I just received a tube in Set Sail and it is amazingly comfortable, not to mention the added bonus of smoothing the look of fine lines…my lips looked amazing in this formula! Probably one of the best formulas I’ve come across in this price range. I am totally regretting not ordering at least 5 more during the 30% off sale!

I swatched boardwalk in the store and almost took it home. I will definitely pick one these up at some point because I don’t have Tarte lip anything anymore.

I’m a sucker for a peachy nude!!! These might be nice because I’m tired of the matte long-wear “butthole” lips, lol. I’ll wait to hear how they perform. Nice swatches!❤??

I recently purchased Salt Lyfe at my local Sephora. I LOVE the texture. It’ll be fantastic come summer! It’s very easy to wear, hydrating almost. Very emollient. Even pigment, good color pay off. No tugging or dragging. It applies very smoothly. Some slight feathering, gathering at the corners of the mouth, are standard issue for classic lipstick. It’s still a great formula and the packing feels luxe and is a huge step up for any Tarte lippie, EVER. The packing feels heavy and smooth, almost like it’s actually marble. (it’s not.) I’ll be excited to hear how the darker/brighter shades perform compared to the more neutral tone I picked up!!! Thanks for all the hard work you go through with this blog!! It’s so much of a help!

Some of these shades look really good although the color range is really heavy on pale to medium nudes. But I’m getting confused by Tarte’s frantic pace of new releases: didn’t they already launch 2 lipstick formulas around the Rainforest of the Sea release? I remember some balms in cardboard tubes and pigmented lipsticks in gold/purple packaging.

So excited that you swatched these! I have Vacay and ordered 5 O’Cloc, Cruisin, and Siesta during the recent Tarte sale. I really like the formula — wears well, no scent, beautiful saturated color that lasts reasonably well.

These all look pretty good, but nothing is really standing out to me as a “have to have.” I have so many lipsticks that I’m sure I have dupes of all the ones I like.

I have a lot of difficulty finding a flattering nude lipstick or MLBB color. I see a few in this collection that could work. Thanks for all the work.

All absolutely gorgeous especially salt life, set sail, 5o’clock, and cruisin’.
I thought all dark berry colours looked very similar and did not have as good coverage as the others. As I dont wear them, it doesnt matter to me.

Apart from the repetitive shades as some people accurately noticed, the quality and coverage look fantastic. They appear comfortable and not drying.
