So would I if I knew when they are lauching in India. The Toledo collection itself is lauching here late April so I am guessing this should be here May or June! πŸ™‚ Any Idea about the rest of the world Christine?

Jade Avatar

Eyeshadows are disappointing as expected (though should we really EXPECT poor quality?). The lipsticks look lovely, though I doubt I’ll pick any up. I was really interested in the lipglass but it really just looks like shimmer without the true peachy colour base I was hoping for! Shame!

Megan Coyle Avatar

The Acai is a gorgeous shade, but looks like it might have some application issues. Does it go on smooth, streak, or bleed?

MavkeupTray Avatar

Is Acai a re launch of Fashion Revival? These eye shadows look like re launches of Romantic Novel palette. The blush , Linda is pretty

gabis Avatar

If any of the shades seem to be re-launches it’s just a coincidence. Julia said she spent over a year working on the collection personally choosing from the colour palette to the finishes as her ultimate goal was to have flattering shades for multiple skin tones. It’s a very sort of “hand-picked” collection so I suppose similarities with other MAC collections are probably due to the fact that, well, MAC’s shade range isn’t endless.

Lilac Avatar

Possible, but also MAC sometimes releases limited edition shades which are just minimally different from existing colours (both regular and previous LE colours), it is not a new occurence. But I agree, the colour palette can’t be endless.
However, also this “Black Plum” shadow looks like I’ve seen it before – many times in fact, in slight variations.

Kat Avatar

The blush looks kind of interesting, almost like a cross between a peachy blush and very fair bronzer. I had a L’oreal True Match blush that was a lot like that, but not matte. I’m excited to see how it performs since I think that kind of color could be good for like a casual/everyday makeup routine.

Aj Avatar

I thought the Acai lipstick would be darker, but I still really like it. Depending on the wear time, I might get it unless there’s a dupe that’s similar enough and permanent.

Ginny Avatar

I thought I would love everything…. I actually don’t like/don’t need any of these! Hoping to grab the lustre drops, though.

Cindy Avatar

I agree with you, my poor wallet. I plan on purchasing everything as I am a MAC hoarder. The lipsticks look like other MAC lipsticks. I am wondering about how the eyeshadow duo Moving Sand will look on me which is darker skin but I guess I will have to figure that out when I start playing with it.

CeeCee Avatar

Hi Christine!

Any idea if/when you’ll be reviewing their new “times nine” palettes? I bought the burgundy one and I’ve used it once thus far and I had maybe one dud (I think it was one of the only limited edition shades in the palette too *shakes fist*) but the rest seemed up to par.

Considering a lot of the eyeshadows are permanent I would understand you’re reluctance to test them and they’re not exactly a steal but an okay value for being able to try that many shades

Christine Avatar

Sorry, I don’t know if or when I will review! I will have swatches, that’s all I can say right now. Sorry πŸ™ There are just so many products to test, so there’s not a lot of necessity to re-test a lot of permanent shades when there are other limited edition things I’m already behind on πŸ™ Sorry again!! I wish I wasn’t so slow!

CeeCee Avatar

Oh no, I totally understand. There’s a lot of new releases on the horizon so I don’t blame you but I’m surprised you’re even doing swatches! That in itself is a lot of work but would be really helpful. I think when products miss the mark it’s easy enough to see in a swatch

*cough Druzy cough*

Lisa Avatar

Excited to read your reviews on the lipsticks. I’m mostly curious to see how Acai and Petite Red compare to Rebel and Red Balloon, respectively.

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

Well, this was disappointing. Those eyeshadow swatches look ominous. That Acai lipstick looks sadly patchy, but Petite Red looks promising.

meganlisa Avatar

I can’t keep up with MAC. A new release every other day…or so it seems.
I almost wish I’d tried the Bao Bao collection (not that I could actually wear those lip colors) but this one is a sure pass. I’m going to guess, based on those eye shadow swatches, that some don’t rate very highly.
I love reading your reviews however!!!

Nicole Avatar

I think this is gorgeous. I love the blush especially and really I don’t have anything like it and have been looking for something a little more natural looking amongst all the shimmery blushes. The lipsticks and glasses ..beautiful.I could probably dupe them pretty closely, but not exactly because I lean toward those shades seldomly. But, ugh..idk.if they perform well..they are so pretty. I am not sure if I can be that strong! The eyes, I can probably pass on. They are pretty and I like the combos. If they do really well, it may be nice to have one for travel or something..Idk..we shall see!

Nicole Avatar

Me too! I already have been informed that my local Mac counter will not be carrying this collection which means my wishlisht is completely dependent on you! No pressure, lol! Just kidding..Really..at this point it’s narrowed to the lipstick and possibly the blush. That blush may be too light for me. I’ll have to wait and see how it shows on you and of course how it performs. Thank you for getting these items. I know Mac has decided to bombard the beauty world at once for some reason. I am very interested to see how this turns out!

Rachel R. Avatar

I’m loving all three lipstick colors. The rest of the colletion looks great as well, except for Druzy. The swatch speaks for itself.

Katherine T. Avatar

Acai & Petit Red look pretty, but this doesn’t wow me. Most of the lip colors look very dupe-able, the gloss looks like petroleum jelly with chunky glitter, blush is too orange for me. The shadows are your usual neutrals, and some of them look dry or patchy. Skip for me

Lulle Avatar

Boca looks nice. Druzy looks reminiscent of that ridiculous “purple sand” eyeshadow Kat Von D came up with in one of her palettes… Laughable is what comes to mind! I’m not sure I understand how celebrities can be OK associating their name with something like that.

jdm Avatar

Druzy Eyeshadow literally made me recoil. How can that even be real? Such a shame because these duos are really pretty! Especially Moving Sand. πŸ™

Anna Avatar

Hi Christine! I really thought the eye shadows look good but I’ve been reading a lot of opinions regarding Lustre finishes. I haven’t tried one for myself; how do these usually turn out when applied? Thanks!

msD Avatar

I really like those lipsticks especially acai and that lipglass! Finally some nice lipstick colors other than reds πŸ™‚ im more excited about this collection than the bao bao wan.

Kendall Avatar

The Druzy and Sunstone eyeshadow shades look to be of horrible quality! They look so sheer πŸ™
On a positive note, Acai is something I must have in my life immediately.

breyerchic04 Avatar

Wow on Karen Boca looked like a mauve pink but here it’s totally a nude. I’m kind of afraid to try to order this online.

CJ Avatar

These collections sell out so fast lately it’s insane. I like Acai and Boca but I think I’ll pass – I’d rather wait to see what the Giambattista Valli lipsticks look like later this summer.

stephanie Avatar

Wow im actaully impressed with Mumu, that eyeshadow looks lovely! druzy on the other hand….wtf lol! Acai and Boca also seem like a really nice lipstick colours, nothing revolutionary though. honestly i cant get excited about much from collections. there are only so many colours in the rainbow right!?! it’s kind of getting to the point where its just about packaging now lol, especially with the lipsticks i think. eyeshadows and beauty powders still have some life in them for me if the quality is right. overall though, havent been obsessed with a collection for a long time. πŸ™ hopefully that will change! i deff like the look of mumu.

mandduarte Avatar

Love the lipsticks! Although idk if I need AΓ§ai, it seems similir to rebel…i’m anxious about your review! Julia made 2 videos using some products and said she will make others til it launches (you can find on youtube: Petiscos TV and Dia de BeautΓ©). You may not understand what she is saying, but you can see how products work!

Laly Avatar

Love love love Petite Red!! Want it, it a gourgeous summer/spring color! A little disappointed with Acai… it should be a little darker on lips, but it’s still ok… reminds me rebel, possible dupe… Linda Blush it’s a kind of neutral and universal color, reminds me GINA from Nars, not in the pan, but on swatches.

ko Avatar

Christine I am so thankful for your reviews! I was really excited about acai, but its a lot darker than I expected and I already have rebel. Petite red is gorgeous though and just my kind of colour, can’t wait to see the dupes (esp after already splurging this month on bao bao).
