Sneak Peek: MAC Spellbinder Shadows Photos & Swatches

MAC Spellbinder Shadow ($22.00 for 0.02 oz.) is a new, limited edition loose eyeshadow that’s held together with “black, ionized pigments [that] are magnetically charged.” I haven’t had a chance to try these on the lid yet, but I’m hoping to test at least half of them today.

“black, ionized pigments [that] are magnetically charged.”

And that means what exactly?

A couple of the colors seem interesting but probably not enough to overcome my current ambivalence towards MAC. Will have to see your review 🙂

ionized, magnetically charged means it a ion that was adhered to a powder through a form of radiation. Im sure there isnt lead in them since they inspected by the FDA.

Some of the pigment doesn’t look as evenly distributed as it could be, but overall – wow, these look great!! I’m super curious about this formula, eyeing at least 3 of these, think I need to get at least 1 for my collection, as it’s pretty unique

These look lovely and well pigmented. Higher Power intrigues me but curious to see comparisons to recently released EL palettes. Would like to understand the safety issues with ionized pigments magnetic charged.

I can’t help but think these will make their way to the CCO. There’s too much coming out at one time from MAC.

$22.00 for 0.02?!

I don’t normally mind smaller pans, but I like to see smaller price points to go along with it! MAC seems to be the worst offender when it comes to increasing costs while not giving you much to show for it. As much as the colors seem intriguing, I can’t justify that spend!

You don’t need much pigmented shadow, to go a long way! Plus it’s wear is 8+ hours! How much longer do you really need to wear eyeshadow? ?
0.02oz will last a while, if you stay conscious of how much you’re using. And especially if you won’t be wearing it, everyday.

It wouldn’t be so bad if MAC wasn’t developing a reputation for dropping quantity and jacking up prices. Plus this isn’t SO revolutionary that it can justify the price on that aspect either.

I questioned the gimmick previously. Virtually every black based shade looks black and loses its color on me. Maybe bec my eyes are deep set, and the shadows get ‘shadowed?’ These prob would not work for me, but the swatches are decent, on the whole.

I think the price is beacuse of the magnetic properties. They have magnetic nail polish and I think this might be similar by the way the pan looks. If you hold a magnet close, the particles will gather and give it a ‘patten’. I might be wrong though just a thought.

OKay so I saw a few u tube vids with people trying these shadows.. maybe its just me but i wasn’t to impressed. They arent true to color. Its isnt that shiny on .. It looks like the shadows themselves look very pretty but they are ionized, magnetically charged. Its not lead… its a chemical reaction of some-type of Radiation. Some my guess is that if you need to have a CT SCAN in the future I wouldnt wear them.
