Sneak Peek: MAC Basic Bitch Palette Photos & Swatches

MAC Basic Bitch Eyeshadow Palette is one of six “Personality Palettes” the brand is releasing for the MAC Girls collection, which officially debuts today online and at select MAC stores. I’ll be sharing sneak peek swatches of all six palettes with one per post to keep everything organized. Each palette has eight eyeshadows and a highlighter, and it seems like the formula is new as the finishes are listed as Satin Shine, Smooth Pearl, Foiled Shadow, and Creamy Matte. This seems like the “smoky” palette with a mix of purple, plum, and gray.

I’m loving Sly Girl! Such a beautiful unique shade. Text Me Later looks a bit disappointing and patchy. I’m not sure how I feel about the overall naming of the palette, given that it’s kind of insulting their customer. The color scheme is nice but I’ll probably pass.
Not feelin the names..but hey these colors would be horrible on me anyway!:)
When do these launch? I thought it was supposed to be today? There is some decimate pretty shades in this one but I still need to see the other 5 ?
They are online now?
Yes I just ordered the mischief minx it appealed to me the most in the shades,so I’m keeping my fingers crossed with this one!! Usually Mac puts new products online at 6 am and still at almost 7 am there was nothing lol, as soon as I left comment I went back on and they were there, thank you Christine ?
I ordered this palette first thing this morning. Looks like a couple of the shadows could use some help. BUT with all the QC issues lately, holding out hope my palette’s better 😉 Thanks for the preview!
Oh gosh I love Sly Girl as much as I hate the name and overall design of this palette. I hope MAC releases it as a single. Or I’ll look for dupes. (It looks pretty special though.)
Sly Girl just totally caught me off guard! Wasn’t expecting this colour to be that spectacular but whoaa! The matte shades seem to be a bit chalky – can’t wait to see your review!
THIS is the palette I want (I would display it pretty loudly, I use the term to describe myself in a joking manner), and so far, the sneak peek doesn’t disappoint. I can’t wait to read your review for it.
I like this concept, a palette for each mood or personality. Creative – I just hope the products are lovely too!
Very much looking forward to a dupe for sly girl, as it’s a fantastic looking shade.
Yay a cool toned palette! And a highlighter that seems light enough for me!
I really like the color scheme. I will just wait for the complete review, because some shades do look a bit disappointing ( Text me later I’m looking at you).
I really like the pop of burgundy!
Idk, may be just me but this doesn’t even look like “basic bitch” concept to me. When I think of what kinda colors and products people refer to as that term, I think of 50 shades of beige and browns, not smoky eye.
Imo say it; I HATE the name, but dang! I need Sly Girl, Hell In Heels and Tattle Tale! This palette looks super green eye friendly! ?
Sly girl is wow! A few fails for sure, but this is the one palette of the release I am interested in and it just jumped into my cart. Thanks for sasqswatching.
I like the design concept of these very Michele Em like on the appearance but I like it. I do not like the name; BASIC BITCH. There are young high school girls shopping at MAC. I don’t want my lil sister or niece parading around in makeup called Basic Bitch with a color called Love This Bitch. UGH I’m so over these over-the-top names. Quit making disrespectful words a trend…..Anyway the palettes themselves are cute…the names is a no sale…reminds me of Too Faced and their many offensive names the most recent being a cute liquid lip color called Granny Pannies no way in heck was I gonna buy it based off the name alone. GROSS. to each their own.
Totally agree with you. So over the insulting and crude naming trend. I just wonder if using these names works out positively for brands or if it turns more consumers off that would’ve bought the products.
Not sure what happened to Text Me Later, even Carbon never looked that bad. Nice to have a cooler toned palette, but this looks like a mixed bag, will be looking at dupes list for a few shades
Mighty tempted by this palette…. I’m not super fond of the name but the first few colors (Shy Girl especially) look AMAZING
Sly girl is so good but the rest looks questionable at best 🙁
These new palettes are really cute in design and concept but the names are kind of stupid and pandering and it seems like the quality might not be there. Le sigh.
I wonder about the logic of the choices of shadow color used for the different sizes.
I went to MAC after work and had them do a look on me with this palette and it’s gorgeous. I was expecting this one to be boring and bland but it’s quite lovely. The artist used Text Me Later in the lid and it was really nice even though it swatches bad. I love the look. I left with this one, Mischievous Minx and the eye brushes
Don’t think the colors are for me but unlike others here I’m tempted to get it just for the name, which I find hilarious.
Sly Girl is so beautiful!!! What a unique shade!
This is the only one I might buy. I don’t care about names, doesn’t bother me.
Sly Girl looks like it needs to be sold separately. Outside of the two palettes that I happen to have a lot of dupes for (Fashion Fanatic, Mischief Minx) this one has the colors I’m most interested in, but the last three in this list have issues (Text Me Later s ridiculous). Still, looks like a really nice fall palette, and would make some very interesting coolish to neutral smoky looks (though TBH, I’m 100% more likely to look for dupes for Sly Girl, and Ms. Personality than buy this palette).
It’s probably the lighting, but I can’t figure out Me Me Me — it looks like a good, solid, cool brown in the pan, but seems almost olive in the swatch.
There are some really pretty shades in this. Text Me Later, though…ugh!
Wow, I saw the name of this palette and I am so ticked off–what’s next, “Colorfully Cunty”? “Happily Whorish”? I find this quite insulting to women and I don’t feel like it’s us ‘owning’ the title because chances are good that this palette was not named by a woman-and if it was, shame on her. I do not like cosmetics companies using derogatory terms as if they are playful and cute and then marketing those products to the very people they are insulting.
