Lancome Auda[city] in London Palette

Lancome Auda[city] in London Palette ($69.00 for 0.58 oz.) includes 16 eyeshadows with four being “high-pigment metallics” that can be used as a “top coat” or all over the lid. I hope to review in full but am not sure of the timing yet.

I wanted to love this, because I’m such an enormous fan of Lisa Eldridge. However, the colours aren’t speaking to me at all, and those initial swatches definitely give me pause. Oh well. Maybe I’ll have better luck with Lancôme’s lipstick expansion.

I had seen an interview where she wanted something very unexpected for holidays and not a typical color scheme, which I get and appreciate. The execution isn’t there but I appreciate trying to do something different to stand out from the typical holiday release.

Yes, very spring like! If this had swatched decently, I would’ve picked it up in a heartbeat. After all the bold and vampy colors for fall/holidays, I love these fresh, muted colors for spring

I think this comment will be a popular one… I’m sad to see a plaette curated by Lisa Eldridge swatch so mediocrely… overall this looks like a miss

Blah, mediocre swatches. That’s not too surprising really. The Audacity in Paris palette had really mixed reviews and swatches poorly but I still love it, so as long as this one performs in a similar way as the last one I’ll be happy. The only thing I don’t get about this palette are the metallic topper colors. Clearly they’re meant to be used like the “pop” shades in Charlotte Tilbury quads, but my understanding is that those kinds of glitter accent shadows can be hard to get right. Personally I would almost always prefer more mattes/satins over glitter anything, just because it seems like a safer bet, quality wise. But if they do perform the way that the Charlotte Tilbury ones do I’ll be happy.

Yikes! Where is the pigment? ? And those last 4 shadows look like glittery messes, Fall Out City. I thought with Lisa Eldridge at the helm, we would see improvements in Lancôme shadows , but apparently not , very disappointing 🙁 Well, I think you should put this one in the bottom of your review pile, sometimes swatches are worth a thousand words, easy skip for me

I love, love Lisa Elridge. No one does makeup like her, she has amazing skills. But this palette looks so boring, even for natural make up! And after using the Master Palette by Mario, not interested in this at all.

Looks as crappy as the last one (that I returned). The Garden of Eden (I think it’s called) palette from Sleek has similar colors and a thousand times better pigmentation and it was $10.

Actually, how much can we blame Lisa? She curates the colors/layout, which do hang together well and are pretty idiot proof. I doubt that she has any influence over the mfg/chemistry aspect, and that’s what’s wrong. She is the concept, not the production. Still, since ingredient lists cannot be proprietary and in the US must be disclosed in a specific order, you’d think Lancome could (and should, and probably do) look at better shadows…like Viseart, UD, kvd, and emulate/approximate the formulas. I imagine Lisa has the final ok on a release, but I doubt she says ‘Well, London Fog needs more microfluorophlogite and talc neeeds to come down to a much lower ratio.’ Those are bs, but you know what I mean. If indies can read up and create great formulas, so can the giants. Think the concept is adequate, like the color families, but the formula and mfg of both the mattes and the high shimmers are big misses. This would have to be fairly steeply discounted at the Lancome version of CCO to consider it. It must be kind of rough for Lisa to stand behind and promote, bec I doubt it came out the way she envisioned.

And yet when Christine was invited by MAC to create her own eyeshadow (Jealousy Wakes – still one of the best names!) she gave us all a peek into the whole process and how she was able to work with the MAC chemists, etc. to go through several trial attempts until they got the shade just as she meant it to be. I actually think that, instead of “Audacity in London”, this palette should be called “Audacity of Lancome”! So many of us were hoping that Lisa E’s involvement would result in something really good and I bet Lancome was counting on that to generate higher sales than this palette deserves.

I totally agree. I saw those swatches and cringed for Lisa. Her hands must be tied as far as quality goes as I don’t believe she’d want to put out such a poor quality product.

I swatched these yesterday because I normally like Lancome shadows and I actually was most interested in the greens and purples. They felt very dry and I really had to rub hard to get decent pigmentation. Sad really and such a shame. The 4 with glitter will definitely require some type of primer…

At first glance I am not impressed but I do have to say, sometimes less pigmentation works better for me. It allows me to build up the color to a level that I am comfortable with given that I have old, crepey eyelids. I also like that it is overall a cool toned palette. I will have to see in person to make a decision. I agree though, don’t worry about reviewing this one quickly. I have a feeling it will be available for awhile.

It’s been a longtime since I bought Lancome makeup (I prefer their skincare) and this palette makes me walk right by the counter.

I saw swatches for a small Lancome holiday palette and it looked quite nice, festive.

I lived in London for many years, and this palette simply does NOT capture its allure at all. Where’s the vibrancy? London is always bustling and on the ‘go’, whereas this palette has just …. gone.
