ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadows
ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadows

ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadows officially launch today (January 13th) at 10AM PST. I have two shades that I didn’t see on the brand’s website, and I’m missing one shade that is (You Know the Drill), but hopefully this is helpful! 🙂 I haven’t had a chance to test much (they just arrived!) yet, but here are swatches:

I’ve never tried any CP shadows but that Lo-Key palette speaks to me!!! I already have a zillion colors so I don’t know how I can justify buying it. The colors look similar to the Too Faced Peach palette. Criss Cross looks more red than that yam shade though…

Most of these swatch pretty well; not all but most. Since I’m warm and fair toned, the colors mostly work for me. Am definitely going to check these out today. Thanks!

A lot of these shades are GORGEOUS!!! I’m really taken with Paper Tiger and Stay Golden. The rest, now that I see your swatches, I am up in the air about. I have 4 total to pick for the promotion today and i’m like “ACK, WHICH ONES DO I GET!!!” because I don’t want to overinvest and get 2-3 palettes. I was going to get Wait For It, but I have the Edward Scissorhands Palette from Sugarpill and Suburbia is too close for me to want that shade anymore. I want Making Moves too! I guess I can go with Locked and Loaded — that’ll fill a gap in my little color palette. Paper Tiger and Locked and Loaded are giving me serious Viseart Warm Mattes vibes!!! Gorgeous colors!!! I think those will be my 4: Locked and Loaded, Paper Tiger, Making Moves and Stay Golden. BOOM! My sister is getting Wait for It but she doesn’t have that shade so she’s all good ^.^

These would have been an easy pass for me. . . I love Colourpop primarily for the magic they create with their Super Shock shadows and cheeks. I have enough powder eyeshadows. But that look you created with the Hi Maintenance palette! So gorgeous! I eagerly await your review. Thank you!

Click on the picture of the Hi Maintenance palette, and it will take you to a separate page, where there are 6 pictures on the top. Sooooo pretty!

That’s a valid point about them drying out; the first shimmer shadow I ever bought from them dried out (Rex) but I decided it was because I didn’t screw the lid on. All the others have been just fine. I agree about them competing, although they *seem* to have been doing very well in that department with their cream shadows.

If these are easier to blend (as powder shadows generally are and not patchy), maybe I will grab a few.

DR Avatar

They do get dry, but not for a long ass time if you keep them closed tight, but when they do get dry, they still work pretty amazing. In fact, even easier to work with. These powders, however, many are patchy as hell. Why not stick with the companies that already do these ad nauseam? Coastal scents pans swatch better than some of these. Makeup Geek would be a better choice for price.

This is interesting! I’m hoping the performance on these is good — some of the shades look like they’d work really well for build-your-own palettes of base/highlight/transition/crease/liner shades, which would be really handy to have to go along with the bright, shiny, trendy colors that attract me in their regular shadow line 🙂

Hmm, looks like mixed bag here. Come and Get It looks like a winner, reminds me of Natasha Denona Golden Rose. Thanks so much for swatches!!!

Odd that they would release only warm shades. While I can wear warm colors with a little bit of work, I prefer the way neutrals to cools look on me. Also, the mattes don’t look that great to me, so I’m failing to see how these stand out amongst other brands. I think the appeal of their cream eyeshadows is that the work so well across all finishes and that they last a long time, even on oily lids.

You should get the NYX Ultimate shadow palette in Cool Neutrals. It’s a square small palette with 16 shades. The quality is pretty good. Hopefully they still make it. It’s nice.

Elizabeth Avatar

Thank you Vicki, that’s a good suggestion and I like the colors! However, it’s hard for me to find. Actually I found the Morphe Plum palette (which has plums, browns, pinks). And I guess I’ll get the Elf Mad for Matte for some gray colors. The It Cosmetics Romantics volume 1 was a good mostly-cool palette, but they don’t make it anymore 🙁

There’s a few cool shades here, but I agree that there aren’t enough for me to find this release all that exciting. This is a pretty common frustration for me. It’s not at all unusual for new blush, eye shadow and lipstick releases to be dominated for warm colors, with maybe one or two that will actually work on me.

Carrie Avatar

I was looking forward to them expanding into powders, but these warm neutrals do nothing for little ole porcelain me. 🙁

Aside from that, the formula just looks okay, but that’s a lot more forgivable at $5 especially since I always wear primer anyway.

Beth Avatar

Looks like their formula for blues and purples might need some work. I like that they’re trying out powders since they last longer than creams, but most of these colors are just so…. standard. I look to Colourpop for unique shades, but I have dupes for almost all of these.

I love Colourpop supershock shadows and will definitely gives these a shot. Liar Liar, Made to Last, Making Moves, Stay Golden, Come & Get It look good. I was interested in the Hi- Maintenance quad until I saw the swatches for the mattes, very disappointing.

Alecto Avatar

There are a couple shades I’m interested in to fill out my current stash. At CP prices, why not? (And all the ones I’d be interested in look decent.) I’m starting to feel for the people who like cooler shades of eyeshadow — it’s been a rough last 6 months or so (plus a lifetime) for you all.

Running Late, definitely.

Get Out is a really interesting color — can’t decide how to classify it (rosy brownish-pink?). Stay Golden seems very different from it in the pan, but dupe-like in the swatch (but cooler, I guess).

Trying to decide if I have a color like I Owe You. I don’t think I do.

Come and Get It is a beautiful color, variations of which I have swooned over for years, and I *still* somehow don’t own a color like it.

Making moves is another really interesting color. Coral?

Wait For It — nothing like it, gap-filler.

Note to Self, another gap-filler. (???)

Locked and Loaded — yep!

(in case you’re wondering, I’m making a shopping list.) 🙂

These colors look great for lighter skin tones but there are much fewer options for people with darker skin tones like myself 🙁 I actually appreciate when a brand makes more warm toned eye shadows because they flatter the majority of skin tones
