Sneak Peek: Anastasia Vol. 1 Lip Palette Photos & Swatches
Anastasia Vol. 1 Lip Palette ($48.00 for 0.54 oz.) contains 18 lipsticks with a mix of “primaries and neutrals to bold brights.” The palette comes with a small mixing plate and dual-ended tool (lip brush and spatula). It’s available through Anastasia now, and it’ll be available at Sephora, Ulta, and Macy’s stores on March 15th. It’ll take a me a bit to work through testing the whole palette, but here are swatches for now:
These look fantastic! However, I’m not a lip palette fan as I like to carry my lip color so I can re-apply it… anyone else?
I have never been a fan of lip palettes either. There’s something cleaner/simpler about a tube of lipstick. For that reason (and the fact I don’t want blue or yellow lips) I’m not interested in this, however they do look amazing!
Those shades are for mixing/deepening/lightening lipstick colors!
I agree! There are some cool colours and I could see it being great for make-up artists on a set or wedding or something, but it would be too much effort for me as an everyday item for touch-ups.
I just thought why not get a small empty makeup pot from a beauty supply store, mix your color at home, put it in the jar and take it with you with a retracting lip brush
I agree completely. I snack/drink constantly so I need to re-apply all the time 🙂
I agree. I don’t like lip palettes, just never been drawn to owning one.
I am not a fan of lip palettes either. If I have a lip color in a pan it’s almost guaranteed that I will never use it. Makes sense for an artist to have several colors available at hand, but impractical for carrying around in a handbag.
There seems to be a surge of lip palettes recently, maybe the trend is moving away from liquid formulas. I know I’m ready to pick up more comfortable formulas.
Talk about variety!
I love these colors!! I can’t wait to read your review.
WHOA!!! ?
I would venture to say that if one owns this, they might not have to buy tubes of lipstick for one very lonnnng time! As long as the quality is there, that is!
Wow, ABH never ceases to amaze me!! These look great, just as good (or better) than traditional lipsticks in bullet shape. Great way to get lots of colors, both classic and unique, without spending a fortune. If you don’t want to carry that big kit around, but for touch ups, you can carry a pre-loaded retractable lip brush .
It would be really cool, once you do the full review of the palette, to do some picks mixing one of the main shades with all of the primary shades, so we can see how they can be used to transform.
Seconded!
I really, really want this!!
Hmm, the quality looks great and I could wear almost every color in there. I had a Nars lip palette and used it a lot. In fact, I still use it although it’s a bit past its day. The great advantage is that you can see the colors all laid out. I also have a BH blush palette that I like using for the same reason. You just pick it up and see what goes with your eye look. Wondering how big it is.
There’s definitely something for everyone here; I hope the review’s good!
This looks like it could be tons of fun, especially if the colors actually mix together easily and well, which the primaries in particular seem like they must be designed to do. Really looking forward to your reviews on this one!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
I’m having a really tough time talking myself out of this one.
The collector in me really really wants this, but it’s making me think of the primary colors set from OCC from way back. Never once used it to mix colors because I always just reached for a tube of lipstick.
I want it soooooooooooo much. But the point that it will be difficult to reapply if you mix a colour is a really good point to think about. But anyway I will buy it and find a solution for that problem. The colours look as if the last very good on the lips so maybe it is not nessasary to reapply. And I am going to order some empty lip palettes from camera ready cosmetics. They are on my wishlist for a long time now because I also wanted to Depot some mac lipsticks in which there is not so much product anymore and bring the empty lipsticks to get back to mac
I wish I was the type to use a lip palette and play with my lip color more (I’m more likely to play with eye color or blush and go for a very basic lip) because this palette looks impressive. I wish I had the patience for it because this is very tempting – I just know I would never use it.
Nice swatches Christine. Nice palette too, but I know I would use it for one month never to use it again due to the fact it’s not very convenient for me to find a brush each time when using and I will be tempted to put my gross fingers into the palette to save time.
Sorry, but not a fan. Firstly I don’t like lip palettes because there are too many shades I wouldn’t wear. Secondly, I don’t like the finish in these. And thirdly, it would be awkward to say the least to carry this around for touch ups. I imagine it would get very sticky on a hot day in someone’s handbag.
Christine, was the formula drying? I have to agree with several others that I prefer a normal lipstick as opposed to a palette. It’s twofold for me; palettes seem messy to my germaphobe brain and I just know that I’d create my all time favorite and wouldn’t remember how I did it, lol.
Hi Shari,
I haven’t had a chance to test this – that’s why I posted the sneak peek, as it will take me awhile to try the formula!
Thanks for the reply. They just look a bit dry was why I asked.
I’ve swatched about 100 products in the last 3 days, so I really have no idea at this point, LOL! I’m only testing hydrating stuff for the next day or so to give my lips some love!
Oh wow, that is a crazy number of products! Your lips always look like they are in good condition in the photos – not red or irritated or anything. How do you manage that when swatching so many lipsticks?
I’d say it’s more like there’s literally no lip skin to exfoliate off than anything else (the illusion of smoothness). I normally only take photos a few times a week (spaced out), but this week’s been crazy.
I just feel like ABH never does anything without making sure its top quality. I’m so impressed with this already. Christine, would love to see you do a “mixology” creative color from this palette with your final review!!!
I am really trying to talk myself out of this, but I don’t think I will be able to. It looks delicious, so many possibilities, I could play for days. I almost bought it today, but resisted, don’t know how much longer I can though.
This is not for me — I prefer individual tubes over palettes, for ease of use and carry. But quality looks good, possibly another good ABH project.
I’m really impressed with the pigmentation, but something about the texture (on your lips) looks a little off to me. — like they’d be grainy after a few hours of wear.
I like that they provide blending options (the primaries) for the adventurous types. If I needed any lipstick at all, I’d be interested, as this speaks to my artistic side. As it is, totally can’t justify it.
Hi Christine thanks so much for the sneak peak the formula looks lovely but not sure if i am sold on it as i have a lot of these colors in tubes , but it does inspire me to use what i have more and mix those. Wanted to ask do you know if it is permanent or limited edition because i can’t find that written on the site?
It’s permanent.
It looks really fabulous, but this seems like more of a pro product to me.
I’m totally sold from your swatches. ABH has been on fire this last year or so!!! The only thing that could sway me to pass is if this contained parabens or mineral oil. I don’t think it has them, but it’s hard to read the tiny writing in the photo of the back of the palette! Anyone know for sure?
This looks like something that I would be interested in.
I’m not really a lip palette person but this one does look great!
However, it really, really bugs me that the layout goes 1 – 12, the five primary shades, then 13. I wish they had 1-13 then the primaries, or the primary shades then 1 – 13, or a double pan or two pans of white, or a pan of clear to sheer things out, or really almost any choice that didn’t put the primary shades where they currently are.
I look forward to your review! While it’s definitely cumbersome for everyday makeup use, this looks like it would make a great addition to one’s toolkit.
Wow, they appear to be quite matte and opaque. Very refreshing as most lip palettes I own and have seen are more glossy like in texture.
I know lip palettes are the thing right now and have been for months, but this is the first one I have seen that actually tempts me to buy it. I bet mixing that blue into red and brick shades would make some *~magic~*.
This looks fab. I’m not a lip palette person but this is the prettiest lip palette I’ve seen thus far with what looks like a great quality!
#6 and #13 ….purrrrrrr
