Smith and Cult Universal Peach Flash Flush Cream Blush ($24.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium-dark pink-peach with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied with fingertips (as recommended by the brand), but it applied unevenly in patches with the product clumping up and flaking off my face when I tried to apply it and blend it on my skin. This happened whether applied to my arm, cheek, or over base products (it was actually even worse over base products, as it resulted in a bigger, patchier mess that had to be redone entirely).
The texture felt heavy, thicker, and clay-like–drier and velvety with some movement, like I could press on it and see an imprint left behind–but it turned to an almost drier, gummy texture when applied to my skin that just made it an utter nightmare to work with. I ended up applying with a stippling brush and just dabbing it on, then doing the lightest sweeping motion to “blend.” It wore well for six hours on me before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to be a "lightweight, cream-to-powder blush" that is "pore-smoothing" with a "barely-there feel." The texture has a thicker, more clay-like feel to it, where there's creaminess to it, but there was also a drier, more velvety/powdery feel present as well. It was a tricky formula to work with, as it was dry and prone to crumbling/flaking off my skin when I tried to use it with my fingertips (which is what the brand says to use with the product). I had the best luck working with a stippling brush, but the drier texture made it more difficult to pick up product with a brush. I did not like how they applied on my skin; they were uneven and sometimes caught on any dryness or flakiness.
They seemed semi-opaque to opaque in coverage initially, but I struggled to get that to translate on my cheeks as the product didn't build up well with a brush. If I applied with fingertips, though, the application was uneven, product seemed to sink into my pores, and looked nightmarish. They pick up and move foundation a lot, and when applied on top of powder, the product goes on unevenly and tends to clump up. The only good thing about this formula was it lasted six to seven hours on average for me.

By now, we are not surprised, and are feeling a bit sorry that you had to experience gummy texture, etc. on multiple shades of this product. The epic fail KVD blushes a few years back were nowhere nearly as bad as these. Also feel badly for people who buy these sight unseen. I shudder to think how unpleasant the testers would be within a day. I want to reach for the sanitizer, just reading about these.
This could have been a nice basic blush had the formula not been utter crappola! Smith & Cult is not winning me over here.
Considering all the problems you had in application it looks really pretty and perfectly applied. Too much work for a blush that isn’t particularly unique. Thank you again, Christine for taking one for the team, LOL!
At least they are consistent – haven’t all of these garnered “solid F’s” from you, Christine? Clearly, the formula is a real problem that should have been caught and fixed before these came to the marketplace.

It kind of irritates me on a fundamental level that a brand like Colourpop can out put cream blushes that are much better quality and a fraction of the price (not to mention a decent size as well) and yet, stuff like this hot pile of garbage still expects to attract our hard earned dollars.
I’ve never bought anything from Smith & Cult but this pretty much ensures I never will.

At first when I saw an “F” I couldn’t believe it! Then I realized it was the cream version. I have the powder version and it is my daily go-to blush! When I originally bought it, I almost bought the cream formula. So glad that I chose the powder instead!!?
Your look is fresh and lovely. Too bad you had to endure the misery of this lousy formula. It looks great on you though! If it’s any consolation, I’m sure you’re saving lots of people a great disappointment.
