shu uemura P Soft Beige 832 Eyeshadow ($15.00 for 0.049 oz.) is described as a “pearl gold light brown.” The pearl finish is described as “a silky shimmer of light for luminous radiance.” It’s a warm light-medium brown with a golden-beige shimmer and sheen. Tarina Tarantion Agate is a bit darker. Chanel Eclosion is less warm. MAC Summer Haze is frostier, so it appears a bit lighter. MAC Sweet Satisfaction looks identical. MAC Grain is more beige. MAC Jest is pinker. MAC Arena is a smidgen darker.
The color is fully opaque, and it applies smoothly with a soft, blendable texture that feels like silk and requires little effort to soften around the edges. For light to medium complexions, it’s a one-and-done kind of shade for quick mornings, office-appropriate makeup, and the like. On deeper skin tones, it will be beautiful to brighten and wake up eyes with a little luminosity and neutral coloring. It’s a “boring” shade, but it’s incredibly versatile and usable. When I applied over bare lids (no primer), it wore for eight hours without fading or creasing, and when I applied over a primer, I had no problems over the same eight hour period. It’s packaged in a compact metal tin, which is designed to be placed into one of shu uemura’s palettes, though you could insert it into any magnetized palette.

Lovely color, but I received such consistently nasty CS from them when I used to shop in their Boston store (now closed) that it has now turned me off the brand entirely.
I love, love, love Shu Uemura eyeshadows. Incredible quality. I have an old matte one of theirs in a gorgeous dark caramel golden brown that is my go-to for any neutral/professional looks. As you said about this colour, it wakes things up with a brightness. But I don’t like the new casings or packagings much. (Yes, I know what is pictured here is a refill). The old singles were much chic-er and seemed to be as eco-friendly as the new ones. Still, their eyeshadows are worth the boring, ugly packaging. I don’t know why I stopped considering them for other brands but I think I need to rectify that soon. 😉
It reminds me alot of UD Hal Baked, which everyone complains about being in *every* UD pallette. It’s not an exact dupe, but it does seem to be close enough for me to not bother. Besides, I’ve never seen this brand at a retail counter, and it’s not worth it to me to orde online with so many quality brands readily available in a comparable price point.
@xamyx It looks closer to UD Sidecar, though less shimmery. Half-Baked is more gold. I would think if you had a decent amount of neutrals, you probably wouldn’t need it. I hardly wear neutrals myself, so I wouldn’t grab this shade.
I like seeing it got such a good rating–if I came across the brand in a store, I’d probably check out other shades now instead of passing it by!
@Quinctia Maybe it’s just my monitor, LOL. Either way, I have both Naked pallettes (as well as several other UD pallettes), so I’m *definitely* good for shimmery neutrals, but I would check out other shades if I came across them. Another issue I have, though, is the shape of the pan. I like to depot all my singles (except NARS), and arrange them in empty water color pallettes. They have round wells, so MAC, UD, Lancome, etc fit nicely, and I can just arrange everything by color, and I wouldn’t want to buy a special pallette for them. That being said, if a color really “wowed” me, I would definitely consider.
@xamyx Ah, I’ve got a “free” magnetic palette I bought from a seller on etsy that will basically hold anything…I’ve just got to put a magnet on anything that’s got an aluminum pan. Now, I’ve got way too many UD palettes myself, so I don’t buy many singles, but I’m covered for all the single shapes, at least, haha.
I’ve never purchased anything Shu Uemura. I have heard wonders about their eyelash curler ever since I can remember, but I don’t like eyelash curlers. I love great quality, highly pigmented eyeshadows though, so I will have to try them! Just not this color though. I have too many UD shadows similar to this color.
This is a gorgeous color! Christine, I know you said that these will fit in any magnetized palette… Are these the same size as Inglot’s pans? Would they fit in the openings of Inglot’s magnetized palette? Thanks!
I think these are a little smaller!
@Christine (Temptalia) Ooh, perfect! Thank you 🙂
Out of curiosity — is the shu refill the same size as inglot eyeshadows?
@BooBooNinja They seem a little smaller!
@Christine (Temptalia) Thanks, Christine. 🙂
This is really lovely!
I think, though, that for pan shadows, I would do the packaging scoring differently, since this is really a lack of packaging rather than ideal packaging (in my opinion) – instead of giving it a 5/5, I would do n/a, and do the score as out of 45 points total, instead of out of 50 points total. This would get 45/45 (so 100% still) – so it wouldn’t make a difference – but it seems more accurate to me. Just a thought – it really wouldn’t make much of a difference either way.
reminds me of a muted version of one of my favorite eyeshadows – blaze by urban decay. definitely want to check this out!
Oh wow, a perfect score! That’s amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before on Temptalia.
it looks just like all that glitters from mac!!
Oooh, such a pretty colour. I’m def in love with it!
how come packaging got a 5/5 score?
@martaKA25 I am also curious…
It looks really pretty but how would compare it to Mac’s sweet satisfaction in terms of frostiness?. The color seems identical but is there any difference when applied?
Everything is pretty much the same!
