Sephora Ultra Shine Lip Gels
Sephora Perfect Nude (04) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, peach with a hint of pink and subdued by beige paired with fine beige shimmer. It had semi-opaque color payoff that applied evenly but emphasized all the lines on the natural lip, so it may be better as a layering product if that is a deal-breaker. The texture was lightweight, comfortable to wear, lightly hydrating and wore for three hours on me. Maybelline Nude Illusion (060) (P, $8.99) is darker. MAC Calypso Beat (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery. Chanel Zephyr (377) (LE, $29.50) is more shimmery. MAC Peachstock (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Fashion Whim (P, $20.00) is lighter. MAC Overspiced (LE, $15.00) is darker, warmer. NARS Striptease (P, $26.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is lighter, brighter. Too Faced Naked Dolly (LE, ) is lighter, cooler. MAC Poetic (LE, $22.00) is lighter, cooler. MAC Chic Supremacy (LE, $15.00) is cooler. Charlotte Tilbury Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (L.S.D.) (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter. Revlon HD Smoky Topaz (570) (P, $8.99) is more shimmery. MAC Modest (P, $22.00) is cooler. MAC Lovingly Yours (P, $22.00) is cooler. Sephora Paradise Pink (15) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a medium, cool-toned pink with subtle white sparkle. It had semi-sheer color coverage that went on evenly but did settle into lip lines. It wore well for four hours, was hydrating, and felt comfortable while worn.
MAC Petite Indulgence (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter. Becca Lychee/Topaz (P, $24.00) is less glossy. MAC Kittenish (LE, $20.00) is lighter, brighter. Revlon HD Pink Sapphire (520) (P, $8.99) is lighter, brighter. MAC Modern Romance (P, $22.00) is lighter. MAC Got Style! (P, $22.00) is darker. Maybelline Blush Essence (095) (P, $8.99) is darker. NYX Strawberry Parfait (P, $5.00) is lighter, brighter.

Sephora Coral Confession (24) Ultra Shine Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a brightened, light-medium pink-coral with warm undertones and multi-colored shimmer (primarily gold and pink). It had mostly opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothed out the appearance of the lips. It wore well for almost five hours and was hydrating over time.
Burberry Cameo Pink (P, $29.00) is darker, more muted. NARS New Lover (P, $24.00) is darker, less glossy. Make Up For Ever 205P Pearly Rose (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker. Surratt Beauty Soigne (P, $32.00) is lighter. NARS Stella (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Reflexion (71) (P, $32.00) is darker. MAC Fever Isle (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, brighter. Chanel Friandise (82) (LE, $27.00) is darker, more muted, warmer. MAC Domestic Diva (LE, $15.00) is darker, cooler. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Formula Summary: It is supposed to be “inspired by gel nail polishes” with an “ultra-light” texture and hydrating formula. They’re semi-opaque to mostly opaque with a slight translucency that gives them a squishy, jelly-like look. They’re lightweight, comfortable to wear, and mostly non-sticky. I haven’t noticed a taste, but there is a sweet vanilla, almost caramel-like scent (it is a little on the synthetic side, but I don’t notice the scent when I’m wearing it). Despite having a smoother, mostly non-sticky feel, the formula has decent wear time (three to five hours) and is hydrating. All in all, it’s a nice formula that outdoes a lot of the more recently released new gloss formulas on the market–and at a fraction of the cost–when the shade is more pigmented, but when it is sheerer (especially the lighter shades), there is often settling into lip lines. One thing to note, though, is despite seeming like quite a big tube of gloss, it contains only 0.11 fl. oz. It has an interesting hourglass-shaped applicator, where it is curved inversely and can fit the curve of the lip.

Coral Confession is pretty! I like how pink it is.
That one is nice!
Not that impressed with the first 2, but the Coral has some pretty shimmer, and the color is perfect for summer!
It seems like the more opaque ones are better (more even!).
Coral Confession is very nice. Paradise Pink is too light and sheer for me. It looks good in the tube, but don’t they always?
I can’t say I’ve come across too many ugly glosses (in the tube), lol!
I love Coral Confession! So glad to see this review since I know barely nothing about Sephora’s house brand. And some of them perform so well?! Yeah sign me up please lol
I really like them! 🙂 The ones that are sheerer are more suitable for layering, but the more opaque ones wear nicely on their own.
Coral Confession is lovely. I think I’ll get that. Looks like a great go-to summer lippie.
It’s really nice!
I have a few of these glosses and a few of Mufe,Ud, and MJB and I think these are just as good as the HE or even better in many instances. I know you state that in your review. But,I support that statement, lol! I am pretty bummed about the first two. It seems so hard to get these light shades in a cream gloss without settling. By using them a sa layering product, do you think over a nude or clear lip liner or primer would control the lip lime settling issue? I can see me getting Coral confession for sure!
Happy you feel the same way, Nicole! 🙂 MUFE/MJB all have the same issue with their lighter/sheerer shades!
Oh my gosh ! I got talked into MJB Pink Steam by a SA. I know your review was bad. He told me to layer it. I caved and bought it Thursday. It looks awful. If you layer it, it just dumps into every line! It is such a pretty color in the tube. I wanted to sit on the floor and cry, lol! At that price,it’s unacceptable. I am going to take it back and get 2 of Sephora brand. These and the UD are my faves this summer and some Mac lip glasses! 🙂
Good for you — return it if you don’t like it!!
If you use a lip primer, I think it will help – anything that helps to minimize the lip texture/lines!
Okay,thank you!
I agree but… I’m still in love with MUFE Labshine gloss.. Only one that made my lip color as nude as it can go.. Dang you sephora.. Bring them back! 😀 if you can find them, Nicole, I highly recommend The lightest two! And so hydrating! My lips are a wine color.. I’ve tried everything and nothing can create that look for me, which you described, but the MUFE Labshine gloss! I wish you luck! (I fear MJB gloss after reviews, had GREAT luck with Dior Rouge Brilliant Gloss, the newest one, in Bonheur! It won’t make you cry, I promise!) Sending healing! :*
Thanks Lotus! I think I may have found hope in a good surgeon 2 hours from home finally! On the Labshine..agreed! I have a few left that haven’t gotten too old. One is a nude color but I’m not sure which shade it is and. I won’t be home until tomorrow. It does have some shimmer to it. I actsilly forgot about it. Thank u for the reminder. I’m. Pretty bad about “shopping my stash”,lol. I just looked up that Dior gloss. Very pretty and almost 5 stars on Sephora.com! Must be good stuff. I may have to break down eventually. Thank you for the referral. I was beginning to think it would be impossible to find a nude colored gloss that didn’t settle into lip lines like crazy, Hope you are well. 🙂
Aww.. You’re always welcome, Nicole! 🙂 Wow, that’s GREAT news!!! I pray this surgeon is as knowledgeable as they come and with a staff ready for all other needs as well as being to help you! A two hour drive isn’t bad. I’m really hoping this one works out for you, dear!!! Yes, you’ll want to try the Dior! 😀 Lol! It’s amazing! And I’m pretty sure we’re talking about the same lab shines, they were like beige Pearl or something., 1 or 2.. I forget about my stash! Christine told me, this isn’t verbatim but close, “Anytime you see something sparkly and new you want, go find ten dupes in your stash. Then find ten more.” Lol! I think it was a joke, but I took it seriously and it’s been the best beauty advice ever! 😀 I hope your day is going well! *Hugs* 🙂
Lol..good advice. I don’t know if I have quite that many dupes! I guess that gives me permission to get new pretties!:) I’m trying to scale my buying while my storage cabinet is being built because I literally have no place to put stuff. So annoying! My uncle is working on building a cabinet for storage and organizing for me as we speak. I can’t wait until,it is finished. Gives me an excuse to save a little for fall collections as well.
Oh, I am really liking Coral Confession! It sure is a fairly close dupe of MAC Domestic Diva. This will pretty much fill the gap once my much loved tube of Domestic Diva runs out, although I am going to try and nab a backup anyways!
Yay! So glad you can get something similar for when you run out 🙂
Wow at Coral Confession. I love the pearl in it – so much dimension! <3
The shimmer makes it!
The glosses look great, but what I really wanted to comment on was how I love this eye look on you–I love how it complements the tones in your eye color. Think I’ll try something like it myself!
Thank you, Carrie! xo
Not usually a fan of shimmery lip products but Coral Confession is very pretty!
It is!
I’m glad these are getting (generally) good reviews! It seems over the past few months Sephora has been updating/improving their house collection. I noticed they reformulated their basic blushes, as well as releasing these. I hope they continue to do this, they’ve always had a few products I’ve liked but never enough to make me interested in them as a brand. And I second everyone above, Coral is GORGEOUS.
I really like a lot of their house products!
Coral Confession looks so pretty! My shopping list for Sephora’s brand is getting longer and longer! I want to buy their eyeliners, eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and now their glosses too! I want some of the other shades you previously reviewed as well!
They’re really putting out some great formulas!
I like the nude and the coral one. I would definitely be like to try them. I wonder what makes these different from their other gloss formula?
I’m not sure!
Paradise Pink is really pretty in the tube!
It is!
I bought one of these glosses on a whim, in “Natural Look” and LOVE it! It’s very hydrating and so comfortable to wear. Think I need the coral and pink now!
Woohoo! 🙂
I need to get Coral Confession at some one. My eyes instantly drew to that shade but it’s also my type of colour as well. 😉
It’s so pretty!
Girl, I wish you were into liquid lipsticks as much as you are into lip glosses! 😛
Sorry, Mel.
Coral Confession is really pretty! Glad to see that one performs so well. And the amount of shimmer is subtle enough for me to like it!
It is nice!
What a pretty coral!
It is 😀
