Be aware VIB Rouge customers..I just found out I was missing out on Rouge promos because Sephora unsubscribed me from their promo emails. I found out this week after I saw Sephora was having this event but I never received the email to RSVP. I messaged Sephora and was told I didn’t get the email because they had unsubscribed me from their promo list due to a “system glitch.” They said they resubscribed me but then when I called the next day I found out that the system had unsubscribed me again! And I couldn’t RSVP for the event because it was too late-even though it was their fault. So I spend all that money with Sephora just to have them unsubscribe me -not to mention their horrible customer service when I was trying to figure this whole thing out. So be aware..I’m sure I’m not the only one…going with Ulta from now on..

I’ve had the same thing happen to me, Cathy! I have been a Rouge member for three years, but stopped receiving promo emails from them about a year ago. I’ve contacted them a couple of times regarding this, but that doesn’t seem to have changed anything. It’s quite frustrating! This along with other reasons (crappy point perks, random cancellation of online orders) have pushed me to take my business elsewhere. I definitely won’t be spending enough to renew my Rouge status for next year! I’m excited to see Ulta expand the brands they carry. They have a far better point system anyways.

Hearing about more and more people saying they have been unsubscribed too makes me really think this whole VIB Rouge is a scam. There really aren’t that many benefits, the rewards stink and they will just randomly cancel you from the promo emails..so what’s the point? I emailed them about it and they responded saying they “would look into it..” I agree with going to Ulta from now on..much better rewards program and definitely more convenient. I’ve never ordered from then online though..I probably need to try it because they have a lot of online offers you don’t get in the store. I hope they are reliable.

That’s the one thing that has always made me a little reluctant to shop at Ulta – their online shopping experience isn’t the best. I do most of my shopping online, so that’s why I haven’t made the switch over to Ulta sooner.

My main issue is their shipping. Shipping is not free (for orders under $50) and not as fast as Sephora’s (unless you pay a substantial additional fee).

I have not placed an online order with them for a long while now ’cause the last two times I tried, my card was denied. I’m sure it’s their system’s problem since I use the same card to make all my other online purchases. I contacted costumer service, but they were of no help and insist that the problem is on my end.

Items that are out of stock are not always indicated when I’m viewing my cart, so I have to find out that it’s out of stock while I’m checking out. And even then, they were showing me the out of stock items one at a time. Each time I tried to check out there was another item that went out of stock. This was during one of their holiday events though, so I’m sure items aren’t quite flying off the shelves as fast usually.

Can’t select samples. Although Sephora rarely sends me the ones I select anymore. So, this one doesn’t bother me that much.

Another set back (not limited to online shopping) is that the prestige brands are excluded from most promos and coupons (unless you’re a platinum member then you get occasional promotional codes that work on prestige items).

I guess I’ll just have to get off my ass and head to an actual Ulta! I’ve been absolutely spoiled by the convenience of online shopping. This is probably a good thing though since the convenience has caused me to spend so much more money on things I don’t really need and otherwise would not have purchased.

Just got back from the event, was Sephora inside JCPenny, not standalone store, so didn’t have much there. I didn’t see the new Tarte Rainforest palette but did swatch the Too Faced Glitter one. Yikes, think this is another one of those over hyped Too Faced products, suggest waiting for reviews/swatches/sale before buying, no way is this worth $45. I only thought 2 of the shades (copper peach and copper) swatched decently, the rest were so-so, meh or yuck -sheer, stiff, very patchy, might only be good as glittery toppers on top on glitter glue, and even then there are much better products out there. And the black base just made the shadows look muddy/dirty. If you like shine and glitter, the UD Moondust palette was so much better and the Jouer Skinny Dip metallic foil one is stunning.

I don’t understand why everything just shows as coming soon if I’m rouge? what is this rsvp nonsense, that’s not really fair considering how much $$ I spend…

Cathy Avatar

Probably because they unsubscribed you from their promo emails like they did to me. You had to RSVP thru their email in order to attend the event. I never got an email and I’ve been a rouge for two years so I messaged them and they said the reason I didn’t get the email is because they unsubscribed me- but they resubscribed me. I called the next day only to find out they had unsubscribed me again! They said it was a “system glitch”.. yeah right..considering it’s happened to other rouge members too. It’s such a scam…their customer service sucks…

I’m not sure Sephora here has any events like this. There are one or two events a year, but I think it’s pre sale, and one might be some % off everything. I’m not even sure we have and grades like you do, if we did I’d be rouge, but as far as I know all members get the same offers. Could be agains the law here, or something. We don’t have Back to MAC either as thers’s some rule or regulation against it.
I found the Tarte palette interesting, but probably not enough to order it, considering the esstra cost of postage and import tax. The Becca Powder sounds interesting and I would like to try the Lancome eye gel.

The BECCA PINK HAZE SOFT LIGHT BLURRING SETTING POWDER seems like a Meteorites dupe, no?
Would be really interested to know how it compares.
