Formula Overview
$15.00/0.12 oz. - $125.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "vibrant, long-lasting color" with a "satin finish" that "does not crack, bleed, or fade over time." It is also intended to "hydrate lips for up to eight hours while color stays fresh and comfortable all day long." The only issue I really had was that they aren't going to last eight hours as most shades lasted around four hours, while some of the deeper/richer shades (like a red) lasted closer six hours.
The texture was smooth, lightweight, and creamy without being overly heavy, slippery, or prone to feathering, but it had enough slip that some shades had a bit of product settlie into my deeper lip lines--thankfully, it wasn't noticeable from a normal viewing distance in most instances.
The lipsticks were typically opaque in coverage, comfortable to wear, and like a solid, cream/satin finish traditional lipstick. They were easy to apply and reapply throughout the day.
It had a fruity-floral scent, which was mostly noticeable in the tube and had no discernible taste.

Extra Pulse just *feels* like Fall! It totally gives me all the reddened autumn maple leaves from back east, Fireball cider (if you know, you know!), and of toasty fireplaces!
Extra Pulse is a genuine autumn kind of lipstick – and I hope Sephora Aus gets it!
Hi, Christine. Will you be posting full-face photos in your reviews again? I find your lip photos a bit too bright, and there’s a stark shadow, that I can’t quite gauge the overall effect of a lip color. Thank you.
No, sorry, I will not be. I’m sorry that the photos are no longer useful for you!
No, not completely; I still very much appreciate your swatches, and can still see the textures. With years of reading your blog, your descriptions and reviews have been consistent. I was wondering why you’ve stopped because I admired your pairing with eyes-cheeks-lips.
It just became a bar to doing photos. I had a reader point out that it was a bit like my “customer facing” part of a job, so I don’t mind being behind the scenes but “in front of” was not always fun. I’m already struggling mentally, so I made the change, which helped a lot, for lip swatches after discussing with some readers on whether just the lip swatch close-ups would be sufficient. I had to make a change because it was just… a big source of misery for me, and it had the benefit of also significantly reducing the physical pain on my right hand (it’s more than a 30% reduction in photos to take + edit).
That’s awful.. I’m sorry you are going through this. Physically, that’s a lot of photos to go through for your hands and eyes! It must’ve been a difficult decision to change things up for your job. But I’m so grateful to hear you have encouraging readers. Sending light your way!!
