Sephora + Disney Cinderella Midnight Hour Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Cinderella Midnight Hour Eyeshadow Palette
What Will You Be Wearing at the Midnight Hour?
Cinderella Midnight Hour Eyeshadow Palette ($30.00 for 0.196 oz.) consists of four eyeshadows and is part of a limited edition collaboration collection between Sephora and Disney. The shades are described as “pearl shimmer,” “champagne nude,” “grey pearl,” and “charcoal shimmer glitter.”
The first shade is a bright white with a very subtle gray tinge. It has a high-frost finish that’s almost metallic. The texture was soft, buttery, and yielded good color payoff. Maybelline Too Cool is very similar. theBalm Sassy is also close. MAC Forgery is a bit grayer. Inglot #453 is more metallic.
The second shade is a darkened beige-peach with a champagne sheen. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was soft. Chanel Complice is a touch lighter. theBalm Stubborn is pinker. Chanel Emerveille is similar. MAC Darling Coquette is a touch darker. Urban Decay Sellout is lighter.
The third shade is a medium gray with a silver sheen. It had decent color payoff, but it was drier than the other shades, so it was stiffer in texture. Wet ‘n’ Wild Shimmer the Night Away is a soft frost. Guerlain Les Gris is cooler-toned. MAC Evening Grey is darker.
The last shade is a dark gray that turns rather brown when I swatched it. It was dry, a bit stiff, and had the least color payoff of the four–a little sheer and uneven. MAC Moody is darker. Urban Decay Black Market is much darker.
I like the palette, and certainly, it performed better than I anticipated (but I was, admittedly, rather cynical when I approached this collection), but it didn’t knock it out of the park like the larger eyeshadow palette did. This set of shades is interesting, and I will say that the warmer beige/peach shade is an odd choice. I didn’t feel like it complemented the other three cooler-toned shades. Perhaps it could have used a silvery-blue or really inky black. When I wore the shades, they lasted almost eight hours over a primer, and without a primer, there was noticeable fading after eight hours.

I can remember an eyeshadow palette from The Body shop with exact the same colours. Last year it was in their collection!
I have that one. I totally forgot about it, as I never use it…
The color combination looks a bit boring, to be honest… Not very princesse-like.
Really? At a glance, I thought the color combo looked very classic and evening-appropriate–definitely something an actual princess would wear. But after taking a closer look, I agree that the color combo is sort of odd–with that peach against the cool colors.
I must say I LOVE the illustration on the palette.
These shades are nice, but they aren’t wowing me. I am still preferring the larger palette, which surprises me; I thought I would like this smaller grouping better!
Same here! I’m really thinking about picking up the larger palette during the VIB sale.
The larger palette is definitely worth a look. For about double the price, you’re getting 5 times as many colors, albiet in smaller quantities…but let’s be honest…with all the palettes we accumulate do they ever get used up anyway? I work at a SiJCP and every time I walk past the display I have to tell myself “I don’t need that palette…don’t need it.” Sometimes I pretend to be cleaning the display just so I can look at it for longer haha! What’s really cool is that all the colors are taken from the disney film. I don’t want to sound like I’m advertising or anything…I just think the large palette is super cool.
I guess this is mostly for people who are really into disney or cinderella and want the compact itself more than the shadow…? These shades are really common and I can think of plenty of dupes in my own stash already.
I just really, really want this… Although I can’t tell about the quality of the actually casing. I think it’s plastic? In my mind I keep thinking of it as one if those delicate pill boxes.
It is plastic!
I’m really impressed with this collection, I hope they eventually release a collection for each Disney Princess. I’d love to see one for Ariel, Mulan, and Pocahontas.
They still don’t look half bad and I’d be interested in trying it out. I really like the colour combination with the greys and peachy shade.
side note: the peachy shade reminds me of Agatha pink from the Kat Von D Memento Mori palette.
I own this, and pretty much use it everyday. I love the way these shades look together.
Maybe it is a little bit expensive for 4 eyeshadows by Séphora, but a nice quad with delicate shades !
