Sephora Brass, Gold, Copper, Bronze Metallic Ultimate Gel Eyeliners Reviews & Swatches

Brass Metallic
Sephora Brass Metallic Ultimate Gel Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil ($13.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a medium orange-copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had medium pigmentation in one stroke, which I had no trouble building up to full coverage that was even and smooth.
The pencil was lightly emollient without being too slippery, so it adhered evenly and set quickly. It lasted nicely for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

Formula Overview
$13.00/0.01 oz. - $1300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "long-lasting" and "waterproof" with color that "wont smudge, flake, or crack" with "one-stroke application without skipping" that delivers "vibrant color." Well, those are the kind of claims you'd expect for a top tier eyeliner formula, but these are definitely more like two strokes--or overlapping strokes--to get more semi-opaque to opaque color. Some shades layered better than others; the "glitter" finish was the worst-performing--sheerer and less readily built up.
The texture was barely creamy but on the stiffer side, particularly with some of the lighter mattes, which I noticed were more prone to snapping off at the tip. These don't contain much product, which is consistent and typical for twist-up eyeliners, so that's not ideal as there isn't a whole lot of product to waste! They tended not to tug noticeably on my lower lash line, but they didn't have as much as glide as more eyeliners have these days (which some may prefer!).
They wore decently; they were relatively waterproof and lasted between eight and nine hours on average. I didn't have issues with smudging or flaking.

Gold Metallic
Sephora Gold Metallic Ultimate Gel Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil ($13.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a medium-dark gold with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had sheer pigmentation in a single pass, which was buildable to semi-opaque coverage that was fairly even but could have been better. The consistency was slightly thin, barely creamy but wasn’t prone to tugging. It stayed on decently for eight hours on me.

Copper Metallic
Sephora Copper Metallic Ultimate Gel Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil ($13.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark red-copper with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer to medium color coverage, which was buildable to semi-opaque pigmentation.
The texture was slightly stiffer and thinner, which wasn’t the most comfortable to use on my skin. It wore well for eight hours before thinning noticeably.

Bronze Metallic
Sephora Bronze Metallic Ultimate Gel Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil ($13.00 for 0.01 oz.) is a darker, coppery brown with warm undertones and flecks of gold sparkle. It had sheer color payoff that had to be built up and layered (three or four passes) to get to mostly opaque, even coverage.
The fact that it got to even coverage was the more important part as that has been something I’ve struggled with in this formula. The texture was lightly emollient, so it was comfortable enough to work with. It lasted for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

With the line exception of Brass (and even that is just a B), these are lousy! Like; how does a brand that actually has had wonderful pencil eyeliners get a shade like Bronze wrong? These seem fairly weak in formulation.
These are normally my favourite kind of shades, but these look fairly muted – not at all vibrant as they should be. This is disappointing from Sephora – who usually does these pencils well.
What a drag .. would have loved to add both the copper and bronze shades to my stash.
At least the colours were pretty. Pity that was the only good thing though.
Too bad the formula is so bad because I love the colors! And as Genevieve said they look so muted.
