Round-up: MAC x Julia Petit Overview & Thoughts

MAC x Julia Petit Collection will launch online on March 12th, 2015 now March 19th (as of 3/12 9AM PST) (North America) and at select MAC locations on March 19th, 2015 (North America); international date is “March 2015” (please call your local counter/store for more information). My favorite product was Linda Blush (A), followed by Boca Lipstick (A). The eyeshadow duos were a major miss for me, even if they were interesting color pairings, because one shade in each duo was troublesome.

I’m all over Boca lipstick & Linda blush. I really wanted Petite Red, but I own Damn Glamorous & I’m not pleased enough with Acai to purchase. Really too bad the eye duos performed so poorly! Why does MAC do this!?

My intense dislike of Limited Editions aside … honestly, if I were just getting into makeup, or ramping up from the most basic of basics, the colors in this entire set would be really intriguing to me. Visually, I think this is a great classic-but-edgier grouping, and would be a real winner if the formulas matched the potential of the colors. Seriously, you could name this “I am Woman..”, make it the only makeup you own (other than foundation, powder, etc.), and look pulled together for every occasion. That is, if you liked warmer colors.

This is a great set up you have now! I think it was long overdue, you know how things seem to change all the time. This set up is wonderful. Love how you blocked the items to consider and ones not so great. They stand out more now. Also love how you show the product with the rating. Now if you can change up the swatching a little bit, everything would be great! Maybe one thing that would be nice is to not show each swatch vertically but maybe horizontially. I myself like to see the swatches by each of the others. Just an idea:) Thanks for all your hard work!

How close to rebel would you say Acai is? Also are there plenty of dupes for petite red? Just curious because it seems Mac is releasing the same colors over and over
