Rimmel Burgundy Lustre (540) Moisture Renew Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Rimmel Burgundy Lustre (540) Lipstick

The Sultry Season: Rimmel Burgundy Lustre (540) Lipstick

Rimmel Burgundy Lustre (540) Lipstick ($5.99 for 0.14 oz.) is a semi-opaque berry wine with soft raspberry shimmer.  It has a glossy finish and feels lightweight when worn.  It reminds me a bit of MAC’s Odyssey lipstick, though not as shimmery.  The Moisture Renew formula applied smoothly, but the scent reminded me of a synthetic floral that was caught between perfume-y and wax-y–not particularly appealing but doesn’t last beyond the tube.  Wear time is between two and three hours–just a little below average for me.  The color itself is beautiful, and I love that it’s almost opaque without being heavy.

Is this the right berry for you? Would you wear it?

The Sultry Season is a series of posts featuring deep, rich shades of brown, berry, plum, and wine lipsticks and lipglosses — just right for autumn — that runs through October 2010.

I actually own this and it is more plummy on my lips than yours! The formula is very slick but not particularly moisturizing for me in any way. Looks gorgeous on you!

The rimmel moisture extreme lipsticks are pretty awesome though I like the smell of of mac lipsticks much more. I have the shade Vintage pink, and its perfect, if I put it on heavily, its a darkish muted pink. My lips naturally have a purpley undertone, and this shade is exactly my lips but better. The other MLBB shade I love is Faux by mac, even though that one is pinker.(I am paler than NW15)

Yes! I think I will be getting this! Rimmel is one of the few brands in Canada that seems to be the same price as the states (I suppose because it’s from the UK).

Geez, is there a lip color that looks bad on you? I have yet to see one.

I’m looking forward to this new season of lipcolor, I’ve already fallen in love with so many over the last few seasons I can’t wait! 🙂

What a gorgeous and totally afordable colour too. Love it. And it looks beautiful on you. I would buy it as soon as it’s in the shops here.
Thanks Christine. 🙂

So far I’m thinking The Sultry Season suits you the best. These colors totally flatter your skin tone and look wonderful on you! You must love fall!

Isn’t it funny that so often people like different things on us (or find things flattering) that we don’t??? CRAZY. But I agree with Sam, fall tones flatter you so well!
