Revlon Pink Truffle Colorburst Lip Butter

Revlon Pink Truffle ColorBurst Lip Butter ($7.49 for 0.09 oz.) is a warm rosy pink with subtle white micro-shimmer and a naturally glossy finish. MAC Venus is pinker. Bobbi Brown Nude Rose is a little rosier. Thierry Mugler Feeling is redder and more frosted. Guerlain Cherry Blossom is similar in color but has a frosted finish, so it appears a smidgen lighter.  It’s a nice everyday-appropriate shade with a little more oomph–still, natural-looking and the finish only adds to how effortless it looks.

The color coverage is mostly opaque, though there is some translucency to the color, as you can still see my lip freckle peeking through. This formula is supposed to have sheer to medium color coverage, so this is a wee bit over but not by much.  Lip Butters have a divine consistency that’s really creamy, slick, and easy to apply, but it often comes at the expense of wear.  Pink Truffle was one of the longer-wearing shades I’ve tested from this range–three hours–which is only a little shy of my more typical four hour average for lipsticks. It contains a little less product than the average lipstick (typically 0.10 to 0.12 oz.) and requires more frequent reapplication, but it is a more moisturizing formula.

It’s the only Lip Butter I own too and it pulls more burnished or browny on me.  Maybe that’s just the office lighting, but it looks divine in these photos, but nothing like how it pulls on me.  For the record I’m an NW 20 (but really more neutral leaning cool skintone).

this pulls more brown on me, too. I love it, and it’s a great MLBB shade, but it’s not quite as pink as I see on Christine. I’m NW15, and definitely cool.

@blueraccoon What I wasn’t loving in the swatches is that it looks too pink (at least on my screen), but reading two comments that say it pulls more brown piqués my interest. I actually want to try this one now. I love the color in the tube, though.

@xamyx  I’d say the color in the tube is more accurate to what I get on my lips, rather than the swatch. I’m not sure–maybe because I’m cool-toned it pulls brown on me rather than pink on Christine, since she’s warm? I haven’t worn it in a while, but I remember it being a pink brown.

This is my favorite of the Revlon Lip Butters!! It’s MLBB. I have other MLBBs but this one just makes my lips look amazing!! I could get away with just wearing this and no other makeup! Love!

I don’t love the Lip Butters like some do, but I have this one, and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s one of my favorite MLBB picks.

Have to agree with everyone who says this is their favourite lip butter (though a close tie with Candy Apple!), such a sophisticated and polished shade with a comfortable feel. Love it.

I’ve never seen this… Didn’t think it had made its way over to the UK but apparently it has. How did I not know about it D: going on the wishlist!

sonephanie Avatar

I have multiple lip butters, and this is my favorite!!! It’s more moisturizing than others that I have, and I like the natural cream finish. And I love that it’s a MLBB color, so it goes with every makeup look.

Rachael Avatar

This was my first lipbutter.  I can’t say I love it, but it’s a good “work” colour for the office.  My favourite lipbutter so far is Candy Apple.

For the price it look amazing. I love how drug store brands have stepped it up recently. It is nice to not have to spend $20 to get great color and quality.

I have this lip butter in Raspberry Pie. I love it. No, it doesn’t have long wear, but I love the hydration. This will be a favorite in colder months.,

How are you only reviewing Revlon Lip Butters NOW? =/ All the new collections coming out right now and you’re doing lip butters???

Celeste Cirinna Avatar

Why not the lip butter? I’m sure she reviews them as they come in. I’m glad she did the review; I have a different color and so far I like the formula.

rwpennell Avatar

I have this one, as well as a few others, and it’s the perfect color for everyday wear. It matches everything. I just love it!

resettti Avatar

how do you manage to get three hours wear out of these? i can’t even get an hour out of regular lipsticks unless i’m wearing lipliner underneath, haha.

Christine-Temptalia Avatar

@resettti Most of them don’t wear that long!! LOL! That’s my biggest issue with the formula overall – the wear is pretty short! Some I get an hour, some a little longer. Occasionally almost average wear!

wenjing Avatar

i have this one, red velvet and raspberry pie and cherry tart   they are the only ones i like even though lipbutter serie is too sheer and light for my taste.

hwendy Avatar

love Guerlain Capri. it looks great on all skin tone.
and I linked to your NARS Pago Pago page… love that look. to me that s probably the best look on you. so natural like you have almost no makeup on but beautiful!

SavannahMarie Avatar

I love the Revlon Lip Butters in the terms of hydration, feel, and colours, but on my it does not last longer than an hour, even without rubbing by lips together, eating, etc. Very sad, really, because the range is beautiful.

NARS Dolce Vita is another pretty close dupe for Pink Truffle. Pink Truffle is slightly darker, but they’re really very similar. I also just picked up the Berry Smoothie shade of the lip butters – it’s gorgeous!
