Revlon HD Pink Sapphire Ultra HD Lip Lacquer
Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as an richly pigmented, lightweight, “never sticky” gloss with a “high-impact shine.” The best part about the gloss is that it delivers quite well on pigmentation, and they initially feel quite comfortable on with a creamy, almost gel-like quality to them. However, they get very tacky as they wear on, and the gloss itself is thicker. It’s not quite as thick as MAC Lipglass, but it is similarly tacky. I’m not keen on the brush-type applicator and feel like a doe-foot would have been better, as the strands of the brush tend to push the color outside the natural lip line and leave it looking slightly uneven (probably not noticeable from a normal viewing distance). They didn’t seem to have much of a scent, but in the tube, there was a very subtle sweetness. The formula is neither drying nor hydrating on me.
Revlon HD Pink Sapphire (520) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light-medium bubblegum pink with gold sparkle. It is very milky applied, and it was one of the lesser pigmented shades in the range with semi-sheer coverage. It settles into lip lines and is hard to get to look even, due to the milkiness. It lasted for three hours on me. MAC Pure Silliness (LE, $15.00) is less sparkly. Milani Pink Lady (07) (P, $5.49) is less sparkly. L’Oreal Florid Pink (LE, $7.99) is less glossy, darker, less sparkly. NYX Strawberry Parfait (P, $5.00) is less sparkly. NYX Merengue (P, $5.00) is lighter, less sparkly. Revlon HD Petalite (540) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a light-medium coral-pink with fine gold shimmer and a glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage (you can’t see my lip freckle for the most part) that goes on fairly evenly. The color wore well for four and a half hours on me. Dior Tiny Pink (269) (P, $35.00) NARS Stella (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, lighter. NARS Orgasm (P, $26.00) is sheerer, warmer. NARS Super Orgasm (P, $26.00) is sheerer. Revlon Pinkissimo (P, $7.99) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Revlon HD Smoky Topaz (570) Ultra HD Lip Lacquer ($8.99 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium rosy beige with fine white shimmer. It had rich pigmentation that covered evenly for the most part with very minimal settling. This shade stayed on well for four and a half hours on me. MAC Chic Supremacy (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Bardot Beige (P, $22.00) is much lighter. MAC French Kiss (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Maybelline Charming Cocoa (125) (LE) is less shimmery, darker. Maybelline Nude Illusion (060) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery. MAC Calypso Beat (LE, $20.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Petalite is really pretty on you!
Thanks, Ankita!
The colors are beautiful! But yes the brush applicator is very annoying.. and tacky? I don’t do tacky!
Stayyyyy awayyyyy from these for sure then!!
Smoky Topaz .. need to get my hands on..
I like how smoothly it covers!
Aw, I was hoping for solid A ratings! Petalite really is a pretty color.
One issue with these (as far as ratings went) is that they talk about how it’s not sticky at all, and it’s sooo not true.
I need Petalite. Need it.
Great for a coral lover!
love ping sapphire
Yay!
Disappointing. But I agree seeing them on. Not special. Too bad.
Bummer!
I wonder if HD Petalite is meant to replace the ColorBurst Lipgloss in Peony. They look similar enough (warm pink/peach-pink with gold shimmer), but true to the Ultra HD Lip Lacquer formulation, HD Petalite seems to be more pigmented from what I can tell.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was. There definitely seem to be some shades that look like replacements, but like you said, this formula is, generally, more pigmented!
I guess it makes sense in a way, since they have the Super Lustrous Lipglosses for those who like sheer to semi-sheer glosses. I did really like the ColorBurst Lipglosses, though, I like that they’re pigmented but still lets some of my natural lip color peek through.
These three colors aren’t my jam but I’m still interested in grabbing something from the line. I don’t really mind if gloss is sticky. I usually only wear gloss with a smoky eye and my hair up 😉
I don’t mind some tackiness myself, but they’re not advertised as such!
I hate brush applicators but I still want to try these. Especially Petalite and Smoky Topaz. They’re both really pretty. I like Pink Sapphire too but it looks like it’ll only be good for layering.
Glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t love brush applicators!
Petalite is very cute on you!
Thanks, Erin!
Hmm.. Thank you! 😀 I now know not to buy these! 😀
No prob, Lotus! xo
Pink Sapphire looks terrible but Petalite is SO pretty, love the gold shimmer. As for tacky, I kind of prefer some tackiness because my lips sunburn very easily, so I ALWAYS have to layer an SPF lip balm on top, and if the gloss is too slippery, everything starts sliding off. I already got 2 shades (Carnelian & Smokey Quartz) and they are SO pigmented and creamy, I’m going to be picking up tons more. At BOGO 50% off, they are like $7.50 each and outperform glosses that cost 4x more. Love!!
Happy to hear you’re loving the two you got! How tacky are they for you?
Carnelian is pretty smooth, not tacky. Smokey Quartz is tackier, but after I put Carmex SPF 15 lip balm on top, the tackiness disappears and it’s very smooth and creamy.
Very nice!
I thought these would get a much lower rating from you ! I’ve read some bad things about these ( like TOO thick and goopy and uneven application etc) but I really like the look of Smoky topaz here!
Some shades have performed poorer (like Pink Sapphire), while others have been quite pigmented!
Pretty, but they look like layering glosses to me. I’m not too impressed with how they look on their own.
Pink Sapphire is definitely one better for layering!
I literally just received petalite in a target beauty box today. I haven’t even gotten a chance to try it. I’m glad it received a decent grade, and I think it looks like a nice shade.
How fun! Hope you like it. Let us know!
ooh!! all 3 are pretty
Happy to hear it! ;D
Oooh, Petalite! Reminds me of MAC’s Nymphette lip glass.
On steroids!
I want Petalite to be perfect, dammit! 😛 All three of them have a nice opalescence to them, actually, but they had to go and dump white pigment in there. I wish they’d stop doing that – and it goes for other brands, and lipsticks too… (I mean, there are times when it can work, but 99% of the time it just seems to lead to streakiness, liplineyness and general mayhem).
It’s close, though! As long as you can handle the tackiness!
I saw these at the drugstore yesterday and it looks like you don’t get very much product. These colors are beautiful on you, Christine. I have dupes for most all the ones you showed, so I’m passing.
It’s the same amount as their ColorBurst gloss–0.20 fl. oz.–which is the average for most gloss amounts.
The ratings are disappointing, but if the big ding against them is tackiness relative to their claims, then I’m okay with that. There were 3 or 4 in the warmer colors I was interested in when you first posted this line and I’m hoping you’ll do those so I can see how they look on. I generally prefer not to use liquid lip items, but some of the colors looked so pretty in the tube! I’ve never used a built-in lip brush; seems like it would be easier than the doe foot. [shrug]
They’re pretty nice if you don’t mind a thicker, tackier gloss, which is more preference, I think, than necessarily a quality thing (except with respect to Revlon saying these aren’t sticky at all).
I’m not a big fan of brush applicators (DOE FOOT all the way!), but I have to say Smoky Topaz looks amazing on you, Christine!
Thank you, Kristen!
Dang, these are totally gorgeous!!! They aren’t even my usual favorite colors but they’re so pretty. 🙂
At least they are permanent and sometimes go on sale!
i also agree that pigmented gloss should have doe foot instead of brush applicators. otherwise the color just goes everywhere. i have a Tom Ford gloss that i almost never use because of this reason!
I just find it so hard to get a really even edge with a brush applicator with these glosses!
I picked up Pink Ruby over the weekend (and am trying to work up the courage to wear it, as it’s way out of my comfort zone), but I may have to go back and get Petalite. Even with “just” the B+ rating, I could wear that color all day, everyday. 🙂
It’s a gorgeous color! 🙂
I have three of these pink ruby, smoky topaz and tourmaline and I like them all they are much better than MAC’s overly sticky overpriced lipglasses I would repurchase these and look forward to trying more colors.
Yay!!
