Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack Nail Lacquer
One Sultry, Smoldering Mix of Green, Blue, and Teal
Rescue Beauty Lounge Jack Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a mix of “greens, blues, [and] teals.” It’s an inky, not quite murky, green with a flash of teal and blue-teal iridescence that looks like it’s swirled in the green base color. Urban Decay Mars is similar but lighter and much, much more sparkly/glittery. MAC Deep Sea is darker, less green, and has a cream finish. Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal is blue-teal and has a cream finish. Illamasqua Viridian is more shimmery and less green (more teal). Butter London British Racing Green is greener. MAC Jade Dragon is darker and greener.
Totally opaque after two coats and nearly opaque after one, this is a really rich, intensely pigmented color. I did experience staining with this shade after wearing it for a week to test the wear. Jack had a good formula, a smidgen thicker than your average polish, but the right consistency for the brand overall. It’s thick without being problematic–it’s almost like richness than thickness (which sounds bad). The shimmer in this is very subtle under most lighting conditions, and I wish it was just a bit more amplified. When I wore this, I had very minimal tip wear after eight days and no chipping.

Now THIS is the type of polish I wouldn’t mind splurging on. I usually only buy drugstore polishes, but the color of this is SO unique and beautiful that I think it warrants the extra $
I am loathe to spend more than $5 or $6 on a polish, but I’m so glad I bought this one. It really is an astounding and unique color! My favorite so far of any polish, including others by RBL.
Gorgeous!
This color does seem the most unique of the collection. Your swatches of it are gorgeous. I’m just fearful of dark green on my fingers. I may have to try this though.
Okay, this type of nail drama is right up my alley! It’s soooo sexy! I have not yet tried this formula, but this particular little number may just be the ticket to get my hot paws on a bottle. First much check to see if they ship to Canada before I get too excited..eek! I love also that this is a dark colour which doesn’t appear to go black when you apply two coats. Raise your hand, who also gets annoyed with that??– Colours that look mysterious and wonderful in the bottle only to go blackish after applying two coats–grumble grumble.
wwendalynne I do! NARS Night Porter was like that for me and was a disappointment as a result. Such a shame, because it looked like such a gorgeous colour in swatches but on me, that green undertone was almost invisible.
Kafka Hate HATE when that happens 🙁 .. For me it is a Dior Midnight Blue..can’t remember the darn colour for the life of me, but when I apply 2 coats..you cannot see the blue nuances. I layer it over a much lighter blue and success!
Kafka Because we were discussing this last week, I thought I would add this colour which reminds me of Thunderball with perhaps a smidgen less of green. http://www.rescuebeauty.com/nail-polish/nail-polish-360.html
wwendalynne It’s pretty! A very blue-aqua though and I’m not sure how I feel about that. I think I’d prefer it if it were actually the colour of Thunderball. For me, somehow, darker is always better. LOL!
I like the color, but it’s not for me. I have a similar one in my stash and it just doesn’t work. It makes my hands look…old :-/ Must have something to do with my skin tone.
Kiss and Makeup well crap..I hope I don’t have the same problem. Hey, K&M, what type of skintone do you have just for a reference point. Thanks!
wwendalynne Hi Wwendalyne, well my skin tone is medium with yellow undertones, but my hands don’t necessarily match. If that makes sense, lol. They’re relatively pale, and more neutral. There are a couple of nail polish reviews on my website. Maybe it’s easier if you check those out and have a look at the pictures of my hands? 🙂 I’m not gonna add links to avoid spamming, but you can find the blog through my profile here. Hopefully this will help a bit! And if not, there’s no harm in just giving this color a try 🙂
Kiss and Makeup Absolutely worth trying! Thank you and I found your link 🙂
Whoooooah that is gorgeous!
Is it just me or have their prices gone up?
MIRIANV She raised the price from $18 to $20 a few months ago I think – I know she made a big blog post about it.
Christine-Temptalia I just read the bit about the legal problems she had with this line and it makes me very sad 🙁
MIRIANV yep..to $20 smackerooos
That’s my kind of nail color! Thanks for the photos, I’ll be looking forward to picking this up soon!
Hm…it doesn’t “wow” me enough to spend $20 on it! I could get some interesting Zoya colors for less. 🙂
I dare say this is the most gorgeous, beautiful, and amazing teal-green shade I’ve ever seen! I want it!!!
Ouch, I just realized that they only sell online and with the shipping cost, that’s almost $30 for a bottle of polish… that hurts 🙁
It’s pretty but, honestly, I prefer Viridian which is so much more “me” and one of the most complex, lovely shades I own. I lurrrvve Viridian and it goes on like a dream. It’s odd but I actually see more green in Viridian than in this. Maybe it’s just my monitor or the fact that I haven’t put on Viridian in about a month, but I see more blue in this one’s blue-green than in Viridian’s which reads a wee bit more emerald-teal to me. Maybe I’m crazy. Either way, I prefer Illamasqua’s colour, not to mention its $14 price tag!
I have cuprum. It stains as well. My fingers and nails are all blue when I remove it. Heh.
I have been seeing a lot of beautiful green NP for Fall. I spotted Sally Hansen`s Jumpin Jade at my Dollar Tree a couple weeks ago, thinking I might need it for Fall and now I am so happy I did!
Oh my god, what a green! *swoons*
Oh gosh, this is so, so lovely. I hate staining, though! I don’t have the patience for it, to be honest.
*SWOON* !!
This color green is just magical! The base actually reminds me of YSL’s Wintergreen, but with an awesome blue shimmer instead.
Reminds me of the Essie “Trophy Wife” polish. I am such a sucker for tealy blues and greens.
