Rant & Rave: Doe-Foot Applicators

Share: Tell us what you love and hate about Doe-Foot Applicators!

my answer: Generally, I’m fine with them, but sometimes they’re not fuzzy enough and it almost feels rough/sharp, and then I’m not keen on them. I like the ones that have some flex, too.

I hate them, I dont know why, but I really dislike them. I dot have something in particular that bothers me, but I hate doe foot applicators generally.

I somehow feel that they’re unhygienic, but maybe that’s just me. I usually wipe off the applicator after I put on some product because of that reasoning.

They’re fine enough for lips. I hate them for applying anything else though. Concealer goes on far too heavy and ditto liquid/creme eyeshadows. I always end up applying to the back of my hand and then picking up with a brush.

I don’t have a problem with them, but I really do prefer that sort of applicator for lip products. Sometimes I find that with eye shadows or concealer they can apply too much product or be unhygienic.

I thought I liked brush applicators best, but lately I am enjoying all the new plush doe foot ones much better!! I agree some can be sharp and not good, I don’t like those either.

I like them. I haven’t come across one yet that I don’t like. I’ve only seen them in lip gloss products that I’ve used so far and for that purpose, they work great for me and I prefer them to the traditional lip gloss applicator.

I only use brushes for eye and face products. When it comes to glosses, whether it is a doe foot or a brush, I wipe it with a cleansing wipe after each use before putting it back in the tube. The thought of introducing dead skin, saliva, and other debris into the gloss is repulsive. When I’m out and about, I carry a small container with a few wipes that have been cut into smaller pieces perfect for wiping a gloss wand. That probably sounds a bit nuts, but I have chronically dry lips that chap easily so the last thing I want to be doing is slathering them with dirty product.

i like them for lip products. for blushes not so much i usually put it on the back of my hand and then use a brush to apply. it really depends on the product and i have such a light hand that i dont usually have an issue with applying too much product

I’ve often paused at the deviations in form of the “doe foot” applicators. It’s a quizzing thing, not quite hygenic, yet handy, and although sone have holes, reason unknown, and are relentless for being useless, at least there is something to use. Some are auite wonderful and I prefer them to any other method while others take away from the effectiveness of the product. 🙂

I don’t generally find much to complain about with them, if we’re talking lipgloss and it’s my own tube. For stuff like eyeshadow primer and concealer, they feel kind of strange however.

In terms of shape, I prefer the ones that Lancome has in its color fever glosses or that YSL has in their glosses (has a hole in the middle) to the trasitional stiff ones (like Revlon’s ) but at that point I think we’re splitting hairs… 😛

I’m totally with you on this one Christine : Like ’em if they’re fuzzy enough, don’t like em if they’re hard and scratchy!

I have a problem with them getting firty very easily – and although this is gross to say – I’m a little of a germophobe and the idea they can easily pick up dry patches of skin and drag them into the lipgloss tube freaks me out so much!!
If they’re in things like primers, eyeshadows, concealers.. I just don’t buy them cause I hate not being able to use products up 😀

I think I’m the only person on the planet that liked the old UD PP packaging, I really liked the doe-foot for that. Now, in order to put on the tiny amount of primer I use each day, I have to carefully squeeze out the tiniest amount on a finger, press a finger from my other hand onto it, and that gives me the right amount, one finger for each lid.

However, I don’t like doefoots for lip products like gloss. I really, really prefer brushes for that sort of thing. I guess a distant second are the applicators in all the glossy stains that remind me of the world’s tiniest toilet brush, the spade-y shaped applicators with the holes in the middle. XD
