Tom Ford Velvet Cherry (08) Lip Color Matte ($50.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted, reddish-brown with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had fairly opaque pigmentation, but this one seemed to have a little more translucency compared to other shades; I think if you had more naturally pigmented lips, that pigmentation might come through to a degree (e.g. pull out red tones in this if you had reddish lips). The formula had a little more slip, too, though it was comfortable to wear and applied evenly. It lasted for six hours on me, but I noticed slight settling of the color into lip lines after four and a half hours of wear. I didn't find it drying, but it wasn't hydrating either. NARS Sandra (P, $32.00) is lighter, warmer. NARS Charlotte (P, $32.00) is glossier, cooler-toned. MAC Hearts Aflame (LE, $16.00) is similar. MAC Studded Kiss (LE, $16.00) is slightly darker.
