How I wish Stila's single powder shadows were still available. I have Wheat in the Eyes are the Window Spirit palette (which I purchased using Optimum points, making it a good value) but would have loved a full sized single. Wheat has the loveliest "sheen" finish in a brightening, easy-to-wear golden beige. I rely on it on mornings when I'm in a rush but need to look wide awake and bright-eyed, as though I've had a good night's sleep. A bit of something like Puppy or MAC Cork in the crease and my eyes are "done" for the day. I hope I can still get my hands on another Spirit palette when I finish the pan of Wheat in my current one.

I've loved Go Lightly for years but never bought it because it's so similar to the brown side of MAC's Illusionary/Burning Ambition MES from years back. But I purchased the Spirit Eyes Are the Windows palette recently and it contains this shadow and I am so happy. It is a lovely shade of brown that is warm and somewhat golden but not too warm or red toned. I have a weakness for these sorts of brown shades so I'm delighted with this. I like to apply it in the outer V with something like Stila Wheat, Bubbly or Chinois on the inner part of the lid. It's a nice all over shade as well.

Puppy is that perfect transition shade - a neutral light brown that works great to blend out just about any darker crease colour for a smooth transition toward the brow-bone. Also works great as a natural looking crease shade for daytime/workplace wear. Half a "star" off because it's not really the most exciting looking colour (so I often forget to reach for it) but it's a great basic to have.

As I was adding this review and having to choose adjective for colour and finish, I really struggled. Some might consider this a frost or "luminous" (it is both, really) but "pearl" seemed the best choice and while this is a light silvery taupe, "beige" seemed the best colour choice. Cloud is a shade I put off buying but it is such a lovely colour for the lid. It is a silvery shade but with enough beige in it to keep it from looking too garish. Pairs well with a wide variety of colours but I like it best with a matte grey or grey-brown (like Stila 349) in the outer corner and crease. Very pretty shadow and, if worn with a primer, it lasts all day without fading.

La Douce (I think it used to be called "Irma La Douce" years and years ago) is a beautiful, murky olive green/khaki that is a fabulous shade on brown eyes and for autumn. You can do the most amazing smokey eye with this shadow and get a result that is a lot more wearable than a traditional black smokey eye. This is also a wonderful colour applied on the outer V, with a light to mid-toned neutral shadow on the rest of the lid - makes for a somewhat exotic, elongated looking eye that still looks appropriate for any situation.

While Starlight looks quite peachy (and very much like MAC Naked Lunch and similar shades) in the pan, it truly does look like "starlight" when applied. This is what I had hoped MAC Shroom would be and it's a perfect highlighter or lid colour for times when you don't want a dramatic, smokey look and just want your eyes to look bright and fresh. Paired with Puppy in the crease, I get a quick and very pretty look that is foolproof. If I could only have one pearly/shimmery highlight shade, this would be IT!
