Duo Eyeshadow

Quite difficult to apply. However it's the one kind of shade the I would like to own no matter what. ha

This isn't the most pigmented of Nars's shadow duos but I love it for a quick easy eye for work days or for lunching out, etc. The somewhat lighter/more glittery side doesn't show up amazingly well and works best over a base or primer that will enhance its colour (something like Sephora's Taupe Jumbo Pencil or, for a more complex look, MAC Constructivist as a base, which is how I wear it most often). The right hand shade is much smoother and more pigmented and very nice to apply and works great on the outer lid and in the crease with the lighter shade on the lid. The two shades are just a nice, easy combo for days when you don't want your eyes to look obviously made up. Black liner, applied just at the roots of my lashes, sets this combo off very nicely.

So it may not be the most exciting colour combo in Nars's range but Tokyo is such a great duo for mornings when you're in a rush, don't want to have to spend time blending and blending, let alone thinking about what to put on the lid or in the crease or in the outer V. While these aren't deep or vibrant colours, they still are highly pigmented so they do a lot to make my lids look better and more "done" than if I don't wear anything at all. And they will mix with just about any other shadows you own if you do want to work in a 3rd shadow to define your crease or deepen the outer V, etc. Tokyo is a simple and sophisticated duo and very versatile.

This duo is just as wonderful as Christine described it in her review. I was so delighted to find it available at Sephora. Both shadows are so pigmented and smooth so they apply beautifully. The pairing is very flattering and versatile too, which isn't something you can say about all of Nars's shadow pairings. The purple side is a beautiful, feminine clear purple (no "bruised eyes" look with this) but what I'm even more delighted with is the champagne side as it's identical to UD's Mauie Wowie but without the uncontrollable glitter fallout.

I went in to Sephora to look at 2 Nars duos - Nouveau Monde and Marie Gallante. Well, the latter was dreadful (I later read Christine's review and saw that it got a D rating - whew, I am glad I didn't just grab it based on how interesting it looked) but Nouveau Monde was fabulous! I got Habanera a year or 2 back and Nouveau Monde is like a reverse of that duo - it has a light lilac shimmery shadow and a dark, shimmery ivy green shadow (Habanera has a light, icy green and a deep purple). I knew I would love the unusual colour pairing and I absolutely do. Even at this time of year (autumn is just starting) the dark green shade is just perfect. And the lilac is so pretty for an evening look. Not the most "versatile" duo but really lovely and great quality. Interestingly, if you have the TooFaced Romantic Eye palette, you have a dupe for the lilac side of this duo and the TooFaced shadow is much smoother and nicer in texture than the Nars!

Having not tried Nars products before, I chose the Mediteranee eyeshadow duo as my shades for my Nars makeover with a make up artist. The duo consists of a light gold shade and an orange shade. I was a little worried that the orange would look weird but used together the combination is stunning. I was most impressed with the colour payoff. You don't need to use a lot and the formula is perfect for blending. Needless to say I bought the duo and cannot wait to wear it with the MAC all about orange lipsticks.

I would have given this four stars, but I believe this is way overpriced. The shadows aren't bad, but they definitely are not amazing. The two shades in this duo are a light champagne pink that is cooler tones, and a light, slightly orangey gold. Together for a really soft look, these are great, but even with a primer they tend to fade on me. These aren't the softest shadows, either, so that may have something to do with it. They're kind of sheer, but can be pretty if you like that. I like this duo, especially for travel, but again, these are so overpriced. Overall, for 34 dollars (I think thats what they are), you could get ten eyeshadows at the drugstore that work just as well.
