Editor's Review

MAC Rosy Cheeks Extra Dimension Blush ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool, fuchsia pearl. It had nearly opaque pigmentation, which was buildable to full coverage, if desired. The texture was soft, smooth, and just a smidgen dusty in the pan (but not applied); I felt like the softness made it easier to control and to grab less product, if desired, so it could be used as sheerer coverage levels without a lot of work. What was even more surprising was how blendable the color was on the cheeks--it melted and diffused as I applied it and I barely had to blend the edges after laying down the initial color. The finish was luminous but not emphasizing of my pores. The color stayed on well for ten hours before fading.

The Extra Dimension Blush formula is supposed to have "long-wearing colour with prismatic reflections" that wears for "10 hours." The formula is typically very pigmented with a soft, smooth texture that's firmer in the pan but not difficult to use--I had no issues grabbing color with even my softest brushes--and has no dustiness or powderiness in the pan. The blushes are usually blendable with a luminous glow on the cheeks that did not emphasize my skin's natural texture. With MAC's newly-added permanent shades, the wear time has ranged from eight to ten hours.

Claims / Ingredients

Oh my, oh my....this is my new favourite blush (among a whole bunch of "formerly favourite" blushes). I was waiting for my local MAC store to restock and was unsure whether to get this one or Wrapped Candy so tried one on each side of my face and Wrapped Candy turned surprisingly warm on me so the choice was an easy one. This blush is SO beautiful and natural looking on me and has the loveliest finish - not overly frosty or reflective but somewhat sheer and with a dewy looking sheen. I do plan to get 2 more of these (probably including Wrapped Candy, though I do have several dupes for that one, and certainly Into the Pink) but I think of all of the new releases, this was the best choice for me. I was planning on getting some of the Becca blushes but these from MAC are actually better colours for me and they're also a few bucks less costly so it's "win/win".
