What makeup products do you use that feel most luxurious?
Sara Happ’s The Lip Slip feels that way for me–it’s super soothing and thick in a glass jar. That might be semi-skincare, though. I consider them makeup products for the purpose of this question, since they are used to apply it all for me, but my Sonia G brushes are always a lovely experience to use.
Definitely my Sonia G and Rephr brushes. Whenever I use a ND palette it feels like luxury, as well as a PMGL Luxetrance lipstick and my single Tom Ford lipstick. Oh, and whenever I use a Clionadh shadow, it’s heaven.
I see makeup more in an utilitarian way, so I don’t necessarily associate it with luxury. I would choose like Christine a semi-skincare step, applying a serum like primer, with a wonderful texture.
Although there’s something really luxurious about using good quality brushes, with a nice feel on the skin.
Oh, there’s a few that do that for me!
Chanel Empriente du Desert quad, Tom Ford Seadragon Lipstick, and PML’s Luxetrance Lipsticks (especially She’s Heaven and Strangé) plus the Midnight Sun Mothership palette.
Guerlain Meteorites and pressed Meteorite powder, and Dior blushes and highlighters always make me feel a little fancy.
Pretty much anything I have from Dior – foundation, primer, shadows, highlighters…the products I do have from the company are all really stellar and I feel quite “luxe” when I use them. Also, Guerlain Cruel Gardenia face powder. I dread finishing it up because it’s so gorgeous.
Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes are always a luxe treat, Chanel highlighters and Tom Ford cream color duos and creamy eyeshadow quads as well.
Always my Laura Mercier Candleglow #1. It makes my skin feel and look perfect. No primer, just the powder. Skin care and only twice a week, Guerlain Midnight Secret is pure luxe for my type of sensitive leaning oily skin. I’ve been using it weekly since 1989. Now, that’s faithful 🤍
For me, the luxury products that I own that make me feel luxurious are some of my favourite eyeshadow palettes: ND’s Glam, By Terry’s Bonjour Paris, CT’s The Rebel 2020 and my all year round favourite Dior’s Bonne Etoile.
For skincare, whilst my products are not expensive per se, I do love the feel of A’kin’s Day and Night moisturiser on my face.
Definitely all of my Victoria Beckham Beauty makeup. The packaging makes me think I’m Elizabeth Taylor and so glam and lux. Most luxury brands have super cheap ( sometimes also tacky) packaging ie Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford, Natasha Denona that it’s hard to feel that luxurious feeling using their products . The quality is often there but it’s not an experience imo.
Becca liquid highlight in Pearl. The packaging isn’t luxurious – but that formula? It’s perfect. It makes me feel so high-end when I use it. No sparkle, no shimmer, no base colors, just pure, unadulterated glossy light. On pale aging skin, that’s very precious.
I don’t feel luxurious using my most expensive makeup, funnily enough, I merely feel as though I’d been scammed when I pick up my UD or PMG palettes. Quality of ingredients and technology put in to formulations are what make them luxurious, not a name printed on the side. I’m dying to have *something* beautiful and precious and “valuable” in my collection, but still haven’t got there yet. I even side-eye my PMG luxtrance now because they’re in shades that I initially thought were flattering, but actually maybe aren’t so much.
1. Hourglass brushes -I recently replaced the makeup brushes (from a variety of brands) that were in my daily rotation with all Hourglass brushes when Sephora had their last VIB sale. They have made such a difference in application, and look and feel luxurious.
2. By Terry (latest release) eyeshadow palette which has 9 neutral shadows in a square palette that is beautiful and I use quite often when I get ready for work each morning and want to feel fancy lol.
3. Pat McGrath Decadence palette (last but not least) feels like luxury to me.
I have other products I could list because I love makeup and collect it but these are the ones that come to mind as luxury to me. Truthfully though, luxury/packaging is not a priority for me. It’s how the makeup performs and makes me feel when I am wearing it. Are the ingredients quality ingredients and don’t irritate my sensitive skin and do they withstand a full work day? I usually go all out during the Monday- Friday work week and go natural on the weekends/evening which may be the opposite of how others typically wear cosmetics?
