Paul & Joe Beaute Glossy Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Paul & Joe Beaute Carnaval (06) Glossy Lip Color
Paul & Joe Beaute Glossy Lip Color ($29.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) debuted recently, and it’s a formula that’s supposed to offer the glossiness of your traditional lipgloss with the “vivid color” of a lipstick while being moisturizing. It’s new and permanent, and it is available in ten shades. The consistency of the shade I had to try was light-medium in thickness/weight, mostly non-sticky (totally non-sticky initially, slightly tacky towards the end), and has a sweet melon-like scent and slight flavor. I found it nicely hydrating, and it wore well for three hours. It also has a curved applicator that felt like silicone/plastic to me.
Carnaval (06) is a brightened, medium pink with subtle warm undertones and a cream finish. On lips, it appears more muted than it did when swatched on the skin. It had semi-opaque color coverage with noticeable translucency all-over. I wish it had applied more evenly; because the color isn’t quite as bright or as opaque, some of the unevenness is less visible from a normal viewing distance. Maybelline Blush Essence (095) (P, $8.99) is shimmery. Maybelline Mauve Mystique (025) (P, $8.99) is cooler-toned. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) is similar–a little less pink. (P, $8.99) Edward Bess First Kiss (P, $30.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches.

I’m so glad you’re reviewing Paul & Joe products! I’ve been really curious about them for years, but I’ve never seen them in person and I’m a little too afraid to order makeup (especially expensive makeup) sight-unseen! 😀
They can be really hard to get for sure!
The packaging is really cute! I like the color and applicator shape too. Not too sure about it feeling like plastic though lol
It doesn’t feel sharp, but it is interesting!
Aw, I expected more of this to be honest 🙁
Same!
I was intrigued by the case, but I think I’d go with your dupe suggestions instead. Not quite enough color.
Hope one of the dupes works for ya 🙂
I have the Posietint from Benefit, and it looks almost identical. Really love the soft baby look it gives to my lips for a daytime no-makeup look.
Interesting! Posietint has such a different texture, I didn’t think it would be a dupe!
I don’t have this one, so you’re possibly right. Maybe I’m just happy I have something that slightly looks like this color on the lips lol. Although this is darker than posietint 🙂
Ah, if only it were a little more pigmented!
I know!
That’s lovely!
You look so lovely in that picture! Can I ask what foundation or other face makeup you’re wearing?
Guerlain Tenue de Perfection I think!
I’m glad you’ve started to review their products! They have a counter at the Duty Free shopping mall in Oahu that I sometimes get to visit but I’ve never bought. I think the next time I’m on that island I’m going to have to get a few things to try! 🙂
You’ll have to let me know what products you like!
Very cute shade! It reminds me of springtime. And I love the packaging!
