Pat McGrath Xtreme Gold 002 Sublime Skin Highlighter Review & Swatches
Xtreme Gold 002
Pat McGrath Xtreme Gold 002 Sublime Skin Highlighter ($60.00 for 0.42 oz.) is a rich, deeper gold with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was quite pigmented where a little went a long way.
The texture was smooth, firm but not stiff, and blendable, though it’ll work best with a moderate-handed approach and/or a moderately-dense brush due to the gel-powder formula (which is inherently firmer in the pan but does this nice “melting” bit when blended out on skin). It wore well for eight and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Objectively this is a beautiful product. In use, how would this look good? What skin tones rock solid gold?
Medium-dark and darker skin tones are usually what this type of highlighter is designed for specifically!
Definitely people with deeper skin tones can and do rock gold highlighters and do it well. But honestly…anyone could pull it off with the right look.
While for many of us this would be just one enormous pan of rich, brilliant gold eyeshadow, it would look utterly AMAZING on really deep, rich skintones!
Right! I was thinking exactly that.
The colour itself is gorgeous, I think, just not for me.
Holy Moly! That is a bright gold!
So beautiful 😍 it has such a high fashion look. It does remind me of the bright gold shadow in the Mothership Divine Rose II palette though — if you had that you could probably get a similar look (though it’s not as finely milled).
What would I do with this???!!! It’s stunning, but I’d never wear it. Perhaps I could paint with it? Hmmmm…
