Pat McGrath Adore & Divine Romance MatteTrance Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Amour
Pat McGrath Amour MatteTrance Lipstick ($40.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a brighter, medium coral that leaned slightly pink paired with a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had more slip and creaminess to it than most MatteTrance shades, and it felt that way, too, which resulted in a less-than-ideal application.
There was visible product that separated along my lip lines and a touch of streaking. The color coverage was opaque in one layer, while the color itself stayed on well for six and a half hours (but had a bit of additional settling over time) and felt non-drying. I’d recommend blotting gently, which helped to reduce some slip and improved the evenness/settling of color.

Formula Overview
$38.00/0.14 oz. - $271.43 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with “”supreme hydration” and “opulent matte opacity.” The consistency was smooth, velvety, and dense without being too firm for one-stroke, glide-on application (I found the original shades to be slightly firmer compared to more newly released shades). They had nearly opaque to opaque coverage in one layer and most were buildable.
They had a subtle sheen--more satin-to-cream in finish--that wore down to a natural matte finish within an hour or two of wear. The formula lasted between four and eight hours on me, and while most weren't drying, they aren't "supreme[ly" hydrating either. They are, however, comfortable to wear over a longer period of time and reapply well. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

Amour
LELimited Edition. $38.00.
Divine Romance
Pat McGrath Divine Romance MatteTrance Lipstick ($40.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a rich, brighter plum with subtle, cool undertones and a satin finish. It had intense color payoff in a single stroke, which adhered evenly and applied fluidly across my lips without dragging or tugging. The consistency was lightweight, creamy and smooth without being slippery. It wore well for seven hours, left a faint stain behind, and felt non-drying over time.

Man, am I bummed! My PML holiday order JUST arrived and only 1 of my 4 items was inside! Tracking said everything had been dispatched. I received only the megapalette. The highlighter, Amour lipstick and Fleur Fantasia quad were missing.
Going by comments on IG, I’m not the only person who’s experienced this. I’m getting really fed up with PML delivery (or lack thereof).
Amour would be a pretty shade for spring/summer! Even with having to blot it a bit, I’d wear it just for the color. But I never wear these lighter or medium coral shades during my more moody hued “winters”.
And Divine Romance is literally heavenly! It is perfect! The only catch is how alike it looks to PML Executive Realness. Don’t know that I need both? 🤔
I didn’t expect to like Divine Romance, but the shade looks really nice on a warm medium skin tone!
Loveee how the first shade looks on you! That colour look georgious.. unfortunately not the best period for kipstick
Wow, Amour is gorgeous! I just checked her site and it seems these can only be bought together 😕
You can purchase them separately! They’re listed under the MatteTrances on Pat McGrath’s site, and they are listed as Celestial Divinity MatteTrances (sold separately) on Sephora!
Oh, I didn’t see that! That’s great, thanks!
Divine Romance is a beauty ….I usually go to richer deeper tones in Fall/ Winter
…This this would work for Spring though.
My eyes must be failing me as I still see a different shade in the full bullet of Amour as compared to what it looks like in the swatches. I am not a coral shade lover so this is an easy pass. I am still drawn to Divine Rose and might cave and get it but I am still thinking about my purchases and trying not to just shop and buy as a remedy for boredom, in lockdown!
Divine Romance is absolutely gorgeous. If the mattetrance formula worked for me I would absolutely buy it, but after trying two of PMG mattetrance lipsticks and having issues with both, I’ll just get another MAC Craving when I’ve used up the one I’ve got.
I find it so annoying that this formula sort of crumbles on my lips and dries them out so much they feel like raisins, and look like that as well.
Has anyone else had this problem with these lipsticks, I wonder.
Oh no!! 🙁
Craving is beautiful shade, though!
That was quick 🙂
Someone, I can’t remember who, talked so warmly about Craving that I had to get it, and now it’s one of my most used lipsticks.
The community here is so awesome, I think. I love reading all comments. I get inspired by everyone.
It’s also a wonderous little corner of brightness in a dark and sometimes confusing year.
Thank you for all the hard work, and for hosting us all here.
Always my pleasure, Helene! <3
Long-time visitor, first time commenter. I just received Amour this week and it has a distinct metallic smell. Did you happen to have any similar issues with your lipsticks? This is my first time trying Oat McGrath. I’m concerned that it’s gone off. PML customer service hasn’t responded yet. Thanks!
No, I don’t recall a metallic smell!
