OCC Synth Lip Tar/RTW
OCC Synth Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “true rose gold metallic.” It’s a brightened, medium rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic shimmer-sheen finish. It had good pigmentation, though there was slight translucency so the natural lip color came through just barely. The texture was thinner and little more liquidy, but it didn’t seem to interfere with application, which was still quite even. It wore well for five hours on me, and it was a little drying after four hours of wear. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Dune (02) (LE, $55.00) is less pigmented (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Demsey (DC, $36.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Luca (LE, $36.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). shu uemura OB Dream Orange (LE, $30.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Too Faced Metallic Debutante (P, $21.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Calypso Shimmer (10) (P, $28.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Sunset Beach (LE, $23.00) is darker (90% similar). Dior Charm (068) (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Skinny Dip (P, $55.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). Chanel Teheran (412) (P, $37.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Revlon Peach Me (P, $8.49) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Supermoon (LE, $19.00) is darker, less pigmented (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Lara (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Surratt Beauty Lili Doree (P, $36.00) is less shimmery, lighter, glossier (90% similar). Chanel Or Beige (107) (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Chanel Sari Dore (DC, $34.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Chanel Sari Dore (414) (P, $37.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
OCC Structure Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “concrete grey beige.” It’s a muted, light-medium beige with hints of pink and a cream finish. I see the gray cast to it, which gives this muted, neutral vibe (though I’d still say it is a warmer shade overall!). It had rich color payoff with a smooth, even application. It applied well, lasted for five and a half hours, and was neither drying nor hydrating. NYX Stone (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Choker (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). NYX Mirage (P, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Luxe Natural (P, $25.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Zenith (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Maybelline Nude Lust (920) (P, $7.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Bite Beauty Retsina (DC, $24.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Peachstock (P, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Oh Snap (P, $7.00) is darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
FORMULA SUMMARY | OCC Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a long-wearing, pigmented liquid lipstick. The formula is light-to-medium in weight with some shades with a thinner or thicker consistency. As you might expect, the thinner ones tend to have sheerer coverage, though the average Lip Tar is semi-opaque to intensely opaque (like the smallest amount is needed to get opaque coverage). The Metallic shades tend to be thinner and have more slip compared to the cream ones. The formula is sometimes drying, sometimes just not drying. The formula is mint-scented but has no discernible taste. The new Lip Tar/RTW comes with a doe-foot applicator, which makes it easier to apply from the tube than the original Lip Tars.

Damn, I usually don’t like Metallic but I think I have to get Synth – I hope he get it, Selfridges has OCC but the range seems smaller here and I’m not sure if we get LE stuff.
What’s the closest non-shimmery lip colour you can think of to Synth?
Hard to say – I don’t think you can really get the rose gold color without the shimmer? It’s kind of like gold without the shimmer is really yellow, so you’d just be looking at a darker peach shade.
Wow! These are looking really good! I have to say I am honestly surprised. Is the application easier with the doe foot compared to the brush? Your edges look pretty clean.
For me, it’s the same with a brush, with fingertips, or with the doe foot applicator – I really didn’t have an issue applying before, so that is probably why it doesn’t make a difference to me, lol! I think a brush is still a little easier for say, a really deep shade.
Brush doesn’t bother me except the mess it creates if your out in public or in the car. It gets a bit time consuming as well. May be worth trying a shade I don’t have in the RTW. I guess I could always whip a brush in there If I prefer it. Thanks!
No on Structure (will be concealer lips on me) but Synth is very pretty , looks like a metallic peachy brown to me
Synth is one of those shades that I feel like has five shades in it, so it is harder to describe!
They are both really pretty colors! It makes me want to pull out all my lip tars and play. I lost Hush :/ I think I might get it again
Poor Hush!
If Synth was not or less metallic I’d love it! Such a lovely color. And the formula sounds wonderful.
Aww!
WOW, Synth is gorgeous. I am a sucker for rose gold anything. Have never owned a OCC product but I may need to pick this up from Beautylish once it comes back in stock.
Haha! I do enjoy rose gold as well.
LOVE Synth! ?
Yay!
Looooove SYNTH!!!! looks fantastic on you.
Thanks, Bonnie!
Synth is SO pretty! You’d never think how flattering that color could be until you see it on. I’ll definitely consider getting it.
It is a really lovely hue!
All indications are; frosty, shimmery lippys are back! Or so it seems. Synth is a stunner! Something I would be down to wear during summer and into autumn, because of that molten copper look it has.
Structure reminds me a bit of MAC Spirit or VG II lipsticks? If it’s close enough, then I’m good having both of the latter.
It does seem like frost and shimmer are a-coming!
Ooh, I like Synth, it’s an unusual colour and very wearable!
It is fun! 🙂
I didn’t think I wanted any of these, but Synth is really pretty and I like the look of Structure as well. Might have to snag Synth, at least!
I liked Synth’s color a lot!
Gorgeous neutrals on you! I’ve never tried this product, but I’ve seen people decanting these into empty lipgloss containers which I thought was an interesting strategy to make it easier to apply. Do you use a lipbrush? Maybe I’ll try it someday.
They now come in a tube with a doe-foot applicator!
I see that in your photos after I post this comment… LOL. Cool – thanks!!
Synth is so pretty, I wish it was a shade that looked good on me!
Awww!
I’m loving this collection so far!
Yay!
Synth is so pretty and unique!
It is a cool shade!
Synth looks really great on you. I think I’d prefer Structure on someone very dark skinned or very pale skinned more than mid toned skin. I feel like it would have more impact.
Thanks, Erin!
Omg, omg, I love Synth and I love that name!! (anyone else playing Fallout 4? 😉 )
Unfortunately, I have Too Faced’s Debutante and that looks so, so bad on me, so I probably shouldn’t waste my money…
They both look gorgeous on you, Christine!
Maybe if you can try in person? But I agree, if Debutante was really bad on you, then it may make sense to skip this!
Omg I need Synth. A metallic rose gold lippy done well? Yay!
Structure is definitely not a shade for me, but that’s one of the best there-but-nuded-out lip looks I’ve seen on you. Blends so well with your skintone.
Thank you, El!
