OCC Synth Lip Tar/RTW

OCC Synth Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “true rose gold metallic.” It’s a brightened, medium rosy copper with warm undertones and a metallic shimmer-sheen finish. It had good pigmentation, though there was slight translucency so the natural lip color came through just barely. The texture was thinner and little more liquidy, but it didn’t seem to interfere with application, which was still quite even. It wore well for five hours on me, and it was a little drying after four hours of wear. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Dune (02) (LE, $55.00) is less pigmented (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Demsey (DC, $36.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Luca (LE, $36.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). shu uemura OB Dream Orange (LE, $30.00) is darker, glossier (90% similar). Too Faced Metallic Debutante (P, $21.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Calypso Shimmer (10) (P, $28.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Sunset Beach (LE, $23.00) is darker (90% similar). Dior Charm (068) (LE, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Skinny Dip (P, $55.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). Chanel Teheran (412) (P, $37.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Revlon Peach Me (P, $8.49) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Supermoon (LE, $19.00) is darker, less pigmented (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Lara (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Surratt Beauty Lili Doree (P, $36.00) is less shimmery, lighter, glossier (90% similar). Chanel Or Beige (107) (LE, $45.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar). Chanel Sari Dore (DC, $34.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Chanel Sari Dore (414) (P, $37.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

OCC Structure Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is described as a “concrete grey beige.” It’s a muted, light-medium beige with hints of pink and a cream finish. I see the gray cast to it, which gives this muted, neutral vibe (though I’d still say it is a warmer shade overall!). It had rich color payoff with a smooth, even application. It applied well, lasted for five and a half hours, and was neither drying nor hydrating. NYX Stone (P, $6.00) is darker (95% similar). ColourPop Choker (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). NYX Mirage (P, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Luxe Natural (P, $25.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Zenith (LE, $30.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Maybelline Nude Lust (920) (P, $7.49) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Bite Beauty Retsina (DC, $24.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Peachstock (P, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Oh Snap (P, $7.00) is darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA SUMMARY | OCC Lip Tar/RTW ($15.00 for 0.14 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a long-wearing, pigmented liquid lipstick. The formula is light-to-medium in weight with some shades with a thinner or thicker consistency. As you might expect, the thinner ones tend to have sheerer coverage, though the average Lip Tar is semi-opaque to intensely opaque (like the smallest amount is needed to get opaque coverage). The Metallic shades tend to be thinner and have more slip compared to the cream ones. The formula is sometimes drying, sometimes just not drying. The formula is mint-scented but has no discernible taste. The new Lip Tar/RTW comes with a doe-foot applicator, which makes it easier to apply from the tube than the original Lip Tars.

Damn, I usually don’t like Metallic but I think I have to get Synth – I hope he get it, Selfridges has OCC but the range seems smaller here and I’m not sure if we get LE stuff.
What’s the closest non-shimmery lip colour you can think of to Synth?

For me, it’s the same with a brush, with fingertips, or with the doe foot applicator – I really didn’t have an issue applying before, so that is probably why it doesn’t make a difference to me, lol! I think a brush is still a little easier for say, a really deep shade.

Brush doesn’t bother me except the mess it creates if your out in public or in the car. It gets a bit time consuming as well. May be worth trying a shade I don’t have in the RTW. I guess I could always whip a brush in there If I prefer it. Thanks!

Gorgeous neutrals on you! I’ve never tried this product, but I’ve seen people decanting these into empty lipgloss containers which I thought was an interesting strategy to make it easier to apply. Do you use a lipbrush? Maybe I’ll try it someday.

Omg I need Synth. A metallic rose gold lippy done well? Yay!

Structure is definitely not a shade for me, but that’s one of the best there-but-nuded-out lip looks I’ve seen on you. Blends so well with your skintone.
