NYX Powder Blush Swatches (Part 2)
NYX Powder Blush ($5.99 for 0.14 oz.) comes in 27 shades (at least, that’s what I counted on their website), and I recently purchased 12 shades to swatch and (possibly) review. Not sure when/if I’ll have a chance to review all of them, but I know I’ll have a few reviews, at least. I can, however, promise you photos and swatches. 🙂 You’ll also find these have been added to the Swatch Gallery/Dupe List features! Now, let’s take a look at the last six… (I you missed the first part, check it out here!)
Desert Rose is described as a “matte burgundy pink.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark, pink-berry with a soft, pearly finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Dusty Rose is described as a “matte rose pink.” It’s a light-medium, rosy pink with neutral-to-warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Flamingo is described as a “baby pink with blue tone.” It’s a brightened, cool-toned, pinky-lavender with a matte finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Mauve is described as a “matte light mauve.” It’s a medium, rosy pink with subtle warm undertones and a matte finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Taupe is described as a “matte taupe.” It’s a dark, cool-toned brown with a satin-matte finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Bourgeois Pig is described as a “dusty pink with slight blue undertones.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark pink with a subtle, satin finish and cool undertones. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I want Taupe!
Hope you’ll have a chance to check it out, Rikki!
Not a NYX fan at all, but Taupe is a really nice contour shade.
It’s nice to have an option at this price point for contouring!
Taupe looks like it could be a good contour shade!
Definitely 😀
I love Taupe as a contour. It’s perfect for fair cool-toned ladies.
Yay!
I like Taupe as a contour shade on my skintone.
That is so great to hear, Phyrra!
The Taupe “blush” looks more like a powder contouring bronzer than anything else (most bronzers are a little too muddy on me), so I might look into that!
And Bourgeois Pig looks good enough to be a nearly-exact dupe for my Tarte Amazonian Clay blush. :3
I’ve heard a lot of readers recommend Taupe as a contour shade!
I love NYX blushes! I have Desert Rose, which I love for winter, and I want to try Bourgeois Pig!
Nice! Glad you have Desert Rose!
Flamingo and Taupe are both amazing for pale skin! Flamingo looks quite scary in the pan, but applied it looks great and gives an amazing effect. Taupe is THE contour shade for pale skin (NW 10). Sometimes it can go a bit patchy on me though.
So glad Taupe works on you as a contour!
I love NYX blushes:-)
Must-have shades?
Bourgeois pig has to be my favourite name for a blush product ever 😀
Haha 😉
Flamingo really excites me! x
Yay!
I *love* desert rose! I’ve heard a lot of raves for taupe as a contour for pale, cool toned rogues, and Bourgeois Pig is such an unexpected and hilarious name for a blush! 😀 must try and get my hands in some if these…
Hopefully not at horribly inflated prices though!
Taupe is a great contour shade. A tad too warm for my NW10 skin, but it’ll work well on my more neutral NW15 summer tone.
Thanks for sharing who you feel it’ll work for!
Taupe is actually a tad too cool for my light/neutral skintone, and applies a bit “rosy”. It’s a decent contour shade, but not among my favorites…
I would agree that it’s definitely on the cooler side, so I don’t think it would be particularly good for NC or even light-neutral skin tones. I’m just very, very cool-toned in the winter, nearly ivory in undertone, so anything even a tiny bit neutral pulls warm. My summer skin is more neutral but still predominantly pink, so it works well for that demographic.
Taupe was my makeup staple as the perfect contour for fair skin in winter months. I still use it just under the cheekbones since it is SO cool-toned. Lately I’ve been favoring the Sleek Face Form kit, though. I use them both together and they’re my perfect contouring shades. <3 Can't say either make it through my 9-10 hour work day, but it's nothing that a touch up at lunch can't solve.
If you didn’t touch up, how long do they last for you, Erin?
NYX is the Shix 😉
Glad ya like the brand!
Dusty Rose and Taupe have been on my wishlist forever. I don’t know why I haven’t tried them yet, I need to. Especially Taupe
Taupe is one I hear about a lot!
I love these blushes, especially Bourgeois Pig. I really want to try Flamingo and Taupe, but I cannot find them in store. I think I’m going to break down and order them.
I bought all of these from Cherry Culture when they had a 50% off sale!
I’m going to try some of these… I don’t have them locally so I hope they’re worth ordering! 🙂
For the price, yes, definitely! I’ll still favor formulas like Burberry’s and Tom Ford’s, but it’s decent!
How would you compare them with the high end ones in general? I’m liking all the pinks here 🙂
They’re more powdery, just in general, and they don’t wear as long sometimes.
I have dusty rose.. and i like how pigmented these are and stays so well.!
Bourgeois Pig and desert rose looks nice too.. may be one these are going to be my next! 🙂
Woohoo!
Yay for more NYX reviews! I have taupe (my go to for contouring, I’m NC15, I really don’t like bronzer on myself very much), mauve (one of my favorite blushes ever, it reminds me a little of MAC tenderling), and Dusty Rose (works better on my fair-medium skin toned mother, it’s to her what mauve is to me. it also reminds me a little of MAC mocha blush which is more pink). I recently ordered Flamingo from cherry culture and I’m really excited to try it.
I’m not a huge fan of bronzer as contours on me either, Shelley! I find they’re just too warm.
I received Mauve in an Ipsy bag last year and it’s probably my most used NYX blush next to Cinnamon. It’s the perfect fall/winter shade.
Wow! What a great find in a monthly box/bag 🙂
Bourgeois Pig is beautiful! Taupe looks like it’ll make a nice contour shade too. I need to add a couple of these to my list
Definitely worth trying ’em!
How does Flamingo compare to Milani’s Delizioso Pink?
Flamingo is cooler-toned!
Hi Christine! Thanks for reviewing the NYX blushes.
Do you think Taupe would be a realistic contouring shade for warm skin tones? I’m NC20/25.
I know many cooler-toned ladies rave about it.
Hey!
I find it a little too cool-toned on me – not quite as bad as Chanel Notorious.
To add to my previous comment:
I’d like your take because I’m worried Taupe will clash with my skin tone or appear as an unnatural contour.
Did you ever end up swatching bourgeois pig next to illamasqua hussy? I swear they are almost identical 🙂
No, I haven’t!
