Natasha Denona My Dream Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
My Dream
Natasha Denona My Dream 15-Pan Small Eyeshadow Palette ($69.00 for 0.67 oz.) is a new, small-sized eyeshadow palette that released in September. For a Natasha Denona palette, the quality was inconsistent and not quite up to par with past experiences–there were some excellent shades but some misses for sure.

Formula Overview
-
The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.
The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.
Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Formula Overview
$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

That’s what I’ve been thinking as I sat watching YT videos of this palette being used in tutorials: INCONSISTENT. I’ve definitely jumped on the whole 90’s grungy eyeshadow train this autumn, as it just feels like our current world mood. This even led me to buy from a brand that after the fact, I found to be going extremely against my personal moral principles, and so it is a LAST purchase from them until they own it, give a meaningful, SINCERE apology, and replace their brand name owner. But I digress, sorry for that!
Anywho, there’s the upcoming Huda Beauty Em(POWER)ed palette, which has this same vibe. I’ll be quite excited to see how that one does vs this ND My Dream palette!
Nope! Exactly the sort of palette that totally does not work for me at all!
Have the palette: Edgy is more difficult to build, but I totally love the colour. With primer it’s easily manageable. Agree, it’s not her best palette, but I’m wearing it a ton because the warm/cool (berries and spice) combos in this palette are completely my thing.
Berries & spice is the perfect way to describe my favourite eye looks! I do love this palette. My favourite ND yet.
Thank you for reviewing this, Christine. I’ve been really looking forward to reading your review. I’d love to know what you think of the face palette in comparison to the Glam Face Palette (Light) blush and highlight. I’d also be really curious to get your thoughts on the lip products.
I really like all the shimmer shades in this palette, apart from Invention – not quite sure how the brand managed to miss how bad this shade is! I think it’s quite a versatile palette, but one that has ultimately too many matte and dark shades for me.
Sooo are we going to ignore the fact that spontaneous is misspelled on the palette? 👀🤣
It is way too orangey for me. Surprising pass for me.
Was on the fence about this palette and sorry for the makeup novella – hope my comment is helpful. Not sure if I had dupes, and red wine shades on my eyes are not my thing – that’s why I have ND Glam, and not Retro. After seeing Christine’s review I’m glad I have no dupes.
Unity, carpe-diem, nurture and familia are fantastic mattes, smooth and blend easily! Spontaneous (misspelling?) is gorgeous as an inner corner highlight and serenity is beautiful (rosy taupey bronze) both easily A+. Instinct and edgy work well with a smaller denser brush to place, then blend. Color payoff is very good. I like ND’s cream-powder formula, there’s a subtle sheen that keeps matte from looking flat.
Thrill, babies and vision are very pretty rosy metallics, different bases make them unique. Thrill-light base, babies-darker base, vision-even darker base, duo-chrome shift from rosy to olive green. All have the pink-gold-bronze thing going on and they’re lovely.
Black, aspiration and risk work great along the lash line or to deepen the outer V. No problems with patchiness or blending. ND’s formula is very forgiving of skin texture and layering, without having to spend all day blending. Except for invention. It’s a beautiful shade, but it’s a flaky, fallout, hard to stay in place mess. It’s like the binding agent is missing. Even with Inglots duraline it ends up everywhere.
Color story looks basic – formulas and undertones make the shades different enough yet work very well together. Colors are clear, saturated, don’t disappear or look muddy, even on my tan skin, a little goes a long way, longevity is really good. ND really gets layering, blendabilty, texture and color payoff well. : )
A bit all over the place! Glad for Aspiration, Vision (multichrome) and Babies, but let down by the rating of Edgy (boo hoo), Instinct, Invention, Thrill and Blacked Black (does the single of this one have the same rating? I’ll look back and see.)
Blackest Black, sorry.
This palette seem like the retro palette with an orange shade (which is the only shade I was drawn towards). And invention got an F rating! Pass for me!
I like that there were satins included. A pity they weren’t all that good.
I sort of imagined that I wanted this palette, but now I must say I’m happy I didn’t buy it. It’s a bit too warm for me and most of all, no shade should get an F.
As always I’ glad I waited for your review, a lot of $ saved!
The misprint of “spontaneuos” on the palette certainly seems to reflect a questionable level of consideration and attention to detail…
I am guilty of oh so many typos myself, but this mislabeling on the package would make me need to paint over the description.
I’ve been eyeing this one! After I lightened my hair color, I notice that purplish and reddish shades don’t suit me as well, so I will skip this one. I like where her head is at with the color story here though! I feel like she keeps doing really interesting things.
